People were so hungry for new consoles. The games didn't even matter they just had to replace the shit they had had for so many years.

I got caught up hard in all of this and bought a ps4 and a Wii U not to mention a few games lol.

Seeing as the demand is still sky rocket high in Europe and US this is going to climb even higher in January and then they are releasing in Japan in February.

So, 2.1 million sold by early December, and they're at 4.2+ million as of Dec 28th? Holy fuckballs, that's impressive.

PSP was pretty impressive despite the fact it stood next to the DS. Doing well in the face of an incoming juggernaut is plenty.

I think that thanks to the supply constraints, there are probably a good number of people who still would like to buy one in the next two months just for the games that are already out (or just to have one for no good reason). Sales might drop a little bit, but we're still too close to the launch hype for software availability to be the most important driver of sales.

I think both consoles sales are very impressive. Shows you how thirsty the world was for a new generation.

I believe that the bad PR on the XBO and all the goodwill Sony did up to launch ( by keeping the same policies they always had besides the addition of the PS+ paywall) actually convinced me to get a PS4 at launch day. Word of mouth travels through fast and when I saw the preorder phenomenon with the PS4, I realized I may have to get one. Canceled my preorders later on but when I realized just how terrible GTA online was I realized it was now or never to ditch it. Just to support where I think the industry should head. This and the WiiU are consoles worth supporting IMO. I don't want some wishy washy stuff with unclear policies made until the last minute. Even if the product is in the clear by launch, it makes me lose confidence in the manufacturer.

I know alot of people who thought that there would be no PS4 and sony would exit the console race. What happened to those people now? I'm going to go through alot of backtracking finding these people and asking what they think about it now, haha.

What will the ratio be once stock is readily available and the console is launched in Japan? 2:1? 3:1?

The ps2 outdid GC+XB a bit over 3:1. I could see the same for ps4 vs WU+XBO.

The thing is MS has Halo 5 to bank on later this year. I can only imagine that it will take multiple IPs from Sony to draw the same size of crowd (inF:SS, Uncharted and GT).

if sony could push the magic stock button, i'm sure they would. I'm curious to see the availability in Jan... I have a feeling its going to be pretty barren as they front shipped gear and are building for Japan.
