No release date set yet for Dark Souls 2 PC

Wait... Black Armor edition for PC? I thought Amazon was just selling a download code for PC?

That sucks on the release date :(

US Amazon hasn't begun selling the Black Armor Edition as there is no official release date as of yet.

I noticed that Amazon Europe has already had them up for a while.

Clueless publishers scared of PC piracy, as usual.

I've gotten used to waiting for the best port but it's going to be especially painful here since the early days are so closely tied to the community.

If the community is anything like previous souls games, people will be playing this for years.

After seeing what comes out in March(South Park, TitanFall, MGS: Ground Zeroes, inFamous Second Son) I wouldn't mind the delay if it means a better port.=O

Well i actually had in mind

-Dark Souls 2 in my room all day (took the day off in advance)
-Titanfall overnight when my folks are sleeping

i might actually get a ps3 copy if the delay is confirmed, then get it back for the pc C.E. mmmmh

Man, the number of people reading the thread title and getting the wrong idea...

It's the limited edition physical PC version that's delayed. Which affects how many people??

Dammit I hope not.

Bummer for PC players. Part of the fun in the Souls games is getting in early and seeing everyone discover shit together.
Not for me at least, I wouldn't want others spoiling all the little cool surprises and discoveries, I liked going in mostly blind and figuring out everything I could by myself in the previous two games.

If a retailer like Amazon lists a game to release on a specific date I think it is because the publisher told them.

They know it has been delayed, but they are not aware of the specific date. Amazon.de is just covering their asses, other Amazon retailers are listing March 31st.

Just went ahead and pre-ordered the PC version on Amazon and it applied a $5 off promotional code for some reason. I'm wondering if it's a $5 code from the Editor's Choice program in December, can't think of any other reason I would have had a $5 promotional code to use towards DS2.

Regardless, kick ass.

I am going to be so fucking pissed if I have to wait an additional 2 months just bc I don't want to play the game on crappy hardware.

Exactly, we already knew about the delay (but still within the "release window"), until we get actual news I don't think we should be drawing conclusions from a single retailer.

According to From Software, Dark Souls had sold 2,3 million units as of spring 2013. Wonder how many of these were PC sales (not illegal downloads)? That ",3".

It really is no mystery why they're treating that version with the lowest priority. It will probably be another cheap port to be fixed by a poor player who's not getting any money for doing their job anyways.

That's a lot of bullshit you managed to fit into that little post.

damn you really sound sure about how much the game is being pirated and what FROM's reasoning for a PC delay might be

could you pull some more insight out of your ass please, I'm really curious

It may be the lowest priority, but I think FROM is probably very happy with their PC sales.

Looking at that picture, from April 2013, assuming I'm doing my math right, Dark Souls PC is about 43% of the total Prepare to Die edition sales worldwide. Of course, there was no PC release for the original version, so obviously it'll make up a larger chunk of PTD edition sales, but it goes to show that it's done very well on PC for a cheap port. I'd also guess that since April, with Steam summer sale and winter sale, the PC version probably sold just as well as the console versions in the same period, and it'll continue to sell during sales due to PC games' longer tails.

You realize spring 2013 was almost a year ago right?

Wow a version that had been out for half a year sold fewer than two versions that had been out for a year and a half, whodathunk!

What? Why would they purposely delay a version to make you buy another version when they are a third party dev?

Also its not they are trying to increase the console sales to ensure the console communities aren't small , since the PS3 sales and even 360 sales are probably much much higher than PC sales.

Well, before I answer that, let me ask you this.

Ubisoft very clearly does this. It is extremely obvious every time they do this. They even like to pretend the PC version will launch simultaneously and then delay it a few weeks before release.

Would you like to speculate on why they do this?

Yea that's why I used the past tense.
Do you have links regarding PC sales?
The image was posted already.

Refer above. No need to be bitter though.

The sales data is accurate, the lowest priority is more than probable since they're releasing the game later and people downloading the game illegally (not only on PC) is a fact. I fail to see the bullshit part. If you want to display your anger send it to From, Atlus or whoever by mail, don't be mad at people stating facts that you might not like.

I know, I was talking about them putting the release date on March 14th before. If they did that it's because they were told so.

I'd rather wait an extra month to play than drag the HD twins out of storage. Honestly, even looking at a PS3 makes me kind of queasy now that PS4 is available.

They would have sold even more if it wasn't on GFWL, or if was a good port in general.

I ain't even mad. Lets the community spoiler everything on the wiki for me for minimum playthroughs for 100% Steam achievements. :3

I'm wondering if some of this is Steamworks Japanese translation issues that Treasure has ran into with the licensing for Ikaruga from Greenlight.

Till April, when GFWL dies and the game becomes unplayable :( , there is no patch anywhere in sight :(

Wut? Thats incorrect.

PS3 sales in Japan: 80 000+
PC sales in Japan: <57 000

PS3+360+PC sales rest of the world: 555k

How did you reach that conclusion?

I have no doubt PS3 and 360 SKU's would have outsold the PC version by a notable amount.
