There are too many variables to consider. Who's going to pay for travel if they live outside of the area/country? Who's going to act as the intermediary to make sure that they're not talking mess? Who's going to protect the commentators if the players go for a Spanish Announcer's Table Spot? It's a lot to handle.

Smash commentator duo are very good

Prog and D1 managed to be something I wanted more than Yipes on mic all weekend long. They both have the fun and the technical knowledge and really flow off one another well.
I think last year was like 18k, but that is just off the top of my head

Better than just spurting out random numbers, IMO, it will at least move the needle towards doing it in a more comprehensive manner.
Metaknight's ban was an MLG thing. The old Unity ruleset gave tournament organizers the option of banning him, but MLG is the only one that did it (IIRC).
Having interacted with D1 in person and interacting with Prog through Twitter, I've come to like both of them a great deal, and the commentary is just top notch.
I did put this little gem together for Twitter based on the GIF that was posted earlier when they reacted to aMSa's Red Yoshi play:
BTW, they both dress crisp as fuck when they commentate and are such a pleasure to listen to.
I admire them both a ton.
The shame here is that it was splintered among four streams. But topping off at 33K on Grand Finals Sunday is a really great showing.

Depends on the major. CEO last year topped out somewhere around 60K, and that was the largest of all of them.
TFC had somewhere around 11K
ETC was somewhere in the 20K-30K range.
UFGT was in the 30K range.
I'm going by memory, so I could be rusty here.

If I had the time as well as the idea, I definitely would have.
On a related note, the original PSD I had for the banner in this thread corrupted to a pretty significant degree and fixing it before I can edit it would mean I would have to tinker with all of the frames individually and re-domost of it, so I'm dreading going back, but there are a lot of cool things that I can see for the SF2 character select set up
