i believe it may have been locked for you (and king and the other new people) because when we advance to this week from season 1 those teams were either auto piloted or CPU and the CPU already handled that :/

It may be locked due to the CPU already doing the signings already.

as for your resignings, i believe i found the issue to be the fact that when i advanced to the offseason the owner of the cards was the CPU.... so they automatically did it right away :/

all of the stuff moving forward when i advance will be your own doing though!

Ah, well I've always found computer management in Madden to be the pinnacle of intelligence, so I'm sure it will work out fine. (Plus, looks like the Cards were 2-14 last year so it can only get two games worse)

if you have a chance to re-sign them right now then they will be a free agent if you don't. only during the season will you have a chance to "extend" a player who has another year left.
