Titanfall on 360 delayed to Mar 25th for "finishing touches"

Yeah, it's kinda sad too. I think I can predict the score from one particular site.

"Titanfall is a game that borrows a lot of elements from Call of Duty, but it's not Call of Duty. It sort of feels the same, but hey! Jetpacks and Giant Robots!" 9/10

I'm not saying Titanfall might not deserve it for those who are into that sort of thing, but it's just that nobody should worry if it will review well. It will review well. It's written in stone.

I trust Bluepoint, but don't trust Microsoft. I can equally see this being a marketing tactic to encourage impulse purchases of Xbox One, but I can also just as easily see this as being exactly what they stated -- a little extra time to get the 360 version in tip top order.

So true. I think the only thing that can put a wrench in this is server issues on launch. It is EA afterall. ;)

2 possible reasons for this.

Realistic version and the tinfoil version. Realistic version is that there's a reason we haven't seen this game at ALL on 360 and that's because it's a fair bit inferior to the One version DESPITE the talented studio working on it.

Hence the delay too.

Tinfoil version. Bluepoint are too good at what they do, made the 360 version on par or better than the One version and MS don't want to have people buying the 360 over the One version for those that have the choice.

Delay fruther removes that option

Either one is interesting truth be known.

No, if it was the realistic version, they'd delay it longer. Two weeks won't do much if the game is a mess. More than likely, the game is looking great on 360 and MS want's to avoid opening that can of worms as much as possible. Seriously scummy, it's like they Want to be hated. I wonder why MS didn't just outright pay for them to also cancel the 360 and PC version. They may as well have while they're at it.

What's worse is the victim in all of this is Respawn. It's obvious they care about the game a lot and MS just completely stifled their chances of having the next huge franchise. Then again, their first mistake was trusting MS.

What can of worms? It wont look as good on 360, i think it will be 60 fps but sub hd.

Two weeks isn't going to move the needle that much. If someone was going to buy TitanFall on 360, waiting 14 more days isn't going to go make them spend 500 dollars more to play it.

I'm just happy (and surprised) the PC version wasn't also delayed, even though I expect it to be bare bones in terms of PC functionality.

MS will hype TitanFall like its the biggest and best game ever. We know their marketing. It will push people to get a bone even though it will come to 360 in 14 days.

People were paying up to £100 to get black ops 2 one day early. Gta V was selling for £90 one day earlier.

Wouldn't an "upgrade option" be better than trying to milk more XB1 sales right off the bat?

(ie: Release it on the 360 first for a month, then offer a $10 upgrade option to the XB1 version???)

Kinda like how EA did with all their last-gen multi-plats leading up to the Next-Gen launches?

This way you sell more consoles, rather than trying to sell the console and the game at the same time.

(Basically, make it $60 for 30 days on the X360 and then + $10 + $499 for the Next-Gen leap, as opposed to asking people to pay the the Next-Gen $60 + $499 all at once; presuming you already have XBL Gold also...)

People bought 360 for nba 2k when it first launched as opposed to getting the original xbox versions.

True, but if the X1 version is indeed 720, the differences might not be as great as they should be (at least, not when comparing a 8 year old console vs a brand new one). I think bluepoint is going to surprise a lot of people and I don't think MS likes that.

Yes MS delayed the game a whole TWO weeks to sell more xbox one's. Wow you guys are super smart nothing gets by this crafty bunch.

Two weeks is enough time to get some extra sales in. Plus, it'll continue their narrative of the 360 version not existing at all. You really think that if there's some issues with the game (that couldn't be fixed through a patch), two weeks would be enough? Had they delayed for at least a month, then maybe, but this reeks of MS.

PvZ Garden Warfare was delayed by a week, do you think that reeks of MS too?

It's always great to learn who Microsoft is keeping fat and happy.

If they really wanted to sell more Xbox ones they'd cancel it or delay it for months. 2 weeks isn't going to make someone spend 500$ if they weren't already going to spend it, The tinfoil hats are certainly out in force logic be damned.

They wont cancel it,that's not how things work. Also people cant wait these days so of course 2 weeks is enough to push people to get a system.

Doesn't take a lot of tinfoil hats to know that some people are very excited and impulsive to buy this game. I was going to analyze opinions between the 360 and One, but now I'm just going to get the One version. No way I'm missing out on two weeks of multiplayer. Fresh multiplayer is always a lot of fun.

Because it's more difficult to develop for 360 than the one, right?

Around Tax return season when people are sitting there with possibly hundreds of dollars and gamers are the most impatient group of assholes ever devised and are basically a wet dream for these publishers and have been for years. Get out with this tinfoil hat nonsense. Its common sense.

What do you mean by this?

As for the poster saying they don't want to miss out on a fresh MP experience, it's going to be fresh to the community on 360 when it drops on 25 March as well, IMO.

Yea but its first on xbox one, people always want things as fast as possible these days.

Or more likely. Respawn ran into a game breaking bug that they've fixed, or will have fixed before release. But Bluepoint hasn't gotten enough time to port the fix over to the 360 version. So Bluepoint is still working on it and can't guarantee that they've got it fixed before the original release date. Hence the delay of the 360 version.

To play devil's advocate, what if the XB1 launch of Titanfall is loaded with server issues and crashes? You'd essentially waste X days/weeks waiting for them to patch it. If the launch on 360 was in better shape, you'd be burnt, I think.

PC version is not delayed. Also not the same, why would ubi delay the pc version, they aren't involved with MS or owned by them.

Wha-...I think you missed his point/reference. :p

Ubisoft typically comes up with some excuse to delay the PC versions of their games so the console versions come out first because they think piracy is responsible for 99% of their sales being lost, and by putting it out on PC last they can get more sales on consoles.

Like-wise he's saying Microsoft is delaying Titanfall on the 360 because they want to get their sales on Xbox One(mainly) first and PC(secondary), and maybe get some of those 360 owners to convert.

Well, we might know if this is a ploy or not if they keep the embargo up for the 360 version. (ie can't compare for 2 solid weeks).

I really am beginning to wonder how much different the 360 version can really be.. I mean, even with different developers.

If the Xbox One version is 720p, 60fps, 6vs6...

What will the 360 version be?

Not like there is a ton of graphical features to tone down. I mean, the textures will obviously be worse, but what else?

Seeing how they are using a dated engine for the game, I don't see why the 360 version needs all this extra polish. The orange Box ran great on the 360, unlike the ps3 lol. I really think that they are trying to push the X1 version harder for obvious reasons...Of course this is just an out of the box opinion.

I mean when the news that Microsoft secured Titanfall 1 lifetime exclusivity broke, the tweets coming out of Respawn employees were quite clearly laced with an undertone of regret. It was actually kind of sad to watch, because they had walked into a very similar trap as to one they originally left to pursue this project and that company.

Quite frankly, I don't see how one can be sad/sorry for them. You don't walk away from Activision to join EA and expect it's all gonna be good and different. I don't know how they didn't see that one coming (they did but just wanted the monies is my guess).

Why do they even bother trying to give a cover-up reason?

Everyone who would even see that Tweet knows why they're really doing this.

I dont see it being 720p on 360,sub hd i think. Also thinks like textures,AA,etc will be less i'd imagine.

As an aside. I see that a bunch of journalists are in Vegas now. Has it leaked what the event is? I assumed it was for this game.
