I dunno man, Mass Effect, FFXIII, Super Mario Galaxy, GTA4, MGS4 ... non-disappointments generally get the love they so deeply deserve.Russian Steve said:I think it's pretty funny how the majority of a forum's population are almost always "disappointed" with every game they see.

Brobzoid said:there is a very visceral response to the cancel, so maybe there is a system where you give up a bar to cancel out of a super/special?
1UP said:Example: Player One uses up one slice of the Revenge gauge by launching into a Saving strike but then halfway through the attack animation interrupts the move by dashing forward slightly, to cancel. Using another portion of Revenge gauge Player One further confuses his opponent by letting loose with an EX fireball, with a quarter-circle forward plus a medium and strong attack. Cancel that attack as well, as your opponent weeps loudly and attempts to dodge what he views as a fireball wind-up by backflipping in the air. Whip out the classic 'Z' formation with your joystick and the two strongest punch buttons to wreck his world with an EX Dragon Punch. Cost: One Revenge gauge bar. With one section of Revenge left, feel free to interrupt your foe's landing with an EX fireball, which will almost surely K.O. him at this point. This was also designed to ensure that no player, even one with a sizeable advantage in health, should ever feel safe, so long as their opponent has a full Revenge gauge at his disposal.

Graphic w*****
Gameplay isn't mainly criticised, it's graphics, graphics, graphics. GAFics.

Also, do people even know what a game being in Alpha stage even MEANS? When a game goes Alpha, it means that pretty much the whole game is in playable form and all the art is DONE, with pretty much only bugs and emergencies to handle. Street Fighter IV is a long long way from Alpha (Im not buying that the game is only 2 percent done though, thats just silly)
Oh yeah and the fact that this game is called SF IV but takes place before III. Does it matter? You may remember a little series called METAL GEAR SOLID that did the same thing.

NeonBlade said:I'm still sticking on the stance the game looks absolutely vile and atrocious. Even the way the jump looks nonsensical. Ryus mix up jump kick FAILED because of the horrendousness of the engine, the entire camera view, large in your face models. Its terrible.
Looking at the actual combos and fighting system barring Kens mid-air "combo" it reminds me of freaking Art of Fighting 2.

brendanrfoley said:I'm limited in what I can post, so I will keep it short. That said, I'm stunned at the hate in this thread.
When I first saw the gameplay clip, I wasn't floored. I'll admit it, I was a bit disappointed (and I've actually liked the screenshots). I thought the whole thing looked a little awkward. But the more I watched, the more I liked. There are tons of little details in there.
As the animated GIF illustrates beautifully, facial expressions are over the top. Personally, I like that. To those who don't, please remember SF2 had guys throwing up when they were hit in the gut. So the series precedent is set. Clothes animate, the fire effects look pretty nice, and there are a lot of things going on in the foreground and background. It 'felt' like Street Fighter, though a bit different.
The gameplay also clearly has a 2D vibe going for it, and it looked like pure Street Fighter to me. To me, gameplay (with the taunting, etc.) kinda looked like a 3D Alpha. That's a good thing, IMO. But to all those saying it's EX all over again, STOP. The 1Up guys who played it say (in the video) it feels NOTHING like EX. They even say hate at the game is misdirected, and people screaming "EX!" are inaccurate. So take your trolling elsewhere, please.
That said, my concerns seem to be the same as the 1Up panel. I hope this game does not turn into a simple 3D remake of SF2. I want some type of advancement, not just in gameplay (which we are getting), but in story as well. I don't want to buy SSF2 HD Remix and SF2 3D Remix in the same year, if you catch my drift. New characters are coming, which is nice. But I'm still (slightly) concerned.
But in the end, I'm optimistic overall. As I've said earlier in SF4 threads, next-gen (now-gen?) games always improve visually between early videos/screens and final release. There is a LOT of time to optimize the game, add effects, increase artistic effects, etc. I'm confident when the game releases, it will look pretty darn slick. And right now, the gameplay looks pretty darn good. And fun!
I understand the love this series has, and deservedly so. And, I understand many are unhappy with the direction Ono is going. But I'm tired of every SF thread turning into "3D suxors -- 2D pls" rants. SF4 is what it is, it's 3D.
There are many of use here who want to talk the games strong points, weak points, etc in a non Game-FAQs like manner.
