Just to be clear. He had a four year ban.
Just to be clear: he had a lifetime ban, which was reduced to eight years, which was reduced to four years, which should have stayed at lifetime.

Why is India so weak at every sport (except cricket)?
Not a sporting culture, not putting funding into sport to change that.
Very exciting for 2020. Japan showing they will challenge the US in the medal counts the way they sent athletes to Rio and the money they are spending on athletics now, just like China did.

He's been banned multiple times, you don't get 8 year bans for minor infringements, he's unrepentant and he generally seems a bit cuntish. No other sprinter is (known to be) on the same level, nothing arbitary about it.
Russian swimmer still competed. He's not the only one.Just to be clear: he had a lifetime ban, which was reduced to eight years, which was reduced to four years, which should have stayed at lifetime.
As a Jamaican I am heart broken at the thought of no more Bolt livening up the Olympics
Like I said, you don't have to like him but he's been running clean for like 6 years. The hurricane of boos, the people reveling in his failure. It's so excessive. And honestly, the vast bulk of the field has cheaters. The extent of people hating him is basically based on "he's a cheater!!", hey guess what most of the field has at some time. If you don't like cheating that's fine bit the level is just too much.

Incidentally, the guy who ran anchor for Japan is half Jamaican. If it wasn't for Bolt Japan would have had the gold. Can you imagine that?
Maaan Russia struggling in volleyball match
Lol no they won't challenge the US
China made huuuuuge strides in 2000 and 2004 before they broke through in 2008.
Japan's not there yet. They'll have a good showing and end in the top 4 in medals, but that's a long way from challenging the United States
I've a nagging feeling they've got some skill at squash, too. Or am I misremembering?
Yo, why is India so weak at the Olympics?

That's crazy.

I think the world is heartbroken at this.
Eliza McCartney was a good story from tonight. Only 19 years old and gets Bronze! I think she even surprised herself.
Russian swimmer still competed. He's not the only one.
Edit: it's hilarious to think how people were whining that nobody would give the US dopers crap when they get far more flak than any other nation here
They just beat the US in 4x100m relay mens sprinting. 'Challenge' means that in a lot of events, they will challenge the US for medals. I didn't say they would top the podium. But you could theoretically see them be 2nd in overall medal count. They are third right now for Rio with a fraction of the money and support they will get over the next 4 years.
I just hope we don't find out in x number of years that an old sample from Bolt tested positive.
I've read the articles and know the ridiculousness of his times and that they only compare to known dopers, but I really just want him to be a complete freak of nature that is just that much better than everyone else.
The gag is even if he dopes, he's still a freak of nature and that much better than everybody else.
Yeah, but much like Armstrong it will be a huge disappointment. Much moreso, probably.
That seems like a decent amount. My country has four medals total...
I think Lance is "disgraced" much more because he tried to ruin the lives of those who accused him of doping than the doping itself

lol being dense? They're two totally different words and the letters are not close to the same order.

One country that used to be really good at the summer olympics is Romania. 53 medals in LA; 26 medals sixteen years later in Sydney; 4 medals sixteen years later in Rio...
It always takes me a second when I see Brazil to realize that his avatar is not Jermaine Clement.
