China is gold medal. Congrats, played great and deserved it.
China within just 1 gold of team GB. China currently has more overall medals than GB which will only come into play if there's a tie for numbers of golds.

Don't most outlets just do 5-3-1 for the point total and rank by that?
I thought GB has more silver so even if China need one more gold than GB.

6 bronzes will never be better than a gold
I don't understand why NBC just count medals than the number of golds then silvers if a draw. Isn't like the US needs help to be at no 1. BBC has always gone by that system. In the US they go by totals, at least NBC does.
The IOC has not released any official ranking format, so it's all up to however anyone wants to do it really.
Great game by China. So is the men's basketball final the biggest event tomorrow, it seems like the athletics only have the men's marathon left?
Well, not quite, she won gold in the 4x200 freestyle because she competed in the heats.Maybe. But you never know in swimming. Missy Franklin won 4 golds last olympics and this time she didn't win anything

It's pretty much the only one aside from wrestling. No track or field - stadium is put out of its misery now.
The pinkest of pink elephants.
NBC has sorted by total medal count for decades, so it's not really a change. Besides, back in the '70s and '80s, the Americans usually ran behind East Germany and the Soviet Union, so it wouldn't make any sense.look up 2008 medal table, China cleaned some clocks in gold medal count that year.
Boo this table![]()
If team USA doesn't fuck it up tomorrow in Basketball I think we'll end up 2 golds short from 2012, but 14 more in the total.

During the live final soccer game NBC chose to instead broadcast the water polo gold medal match between Croatia and Serbia. Why would they choose that over Brazil vs Germany. I don't care what Americans say about soccer but water polo is not more popular than this sport.
Now NBC chooses to broadcast the penalty shootout.

Feel bad for Mo Ahmed in this interview. He's only 25 - hope we see him in Tokyo.
Boo this table
NBC did that tonight, too. I love it because I get to see a lot of moments -- like the two women racers who collided with each other and helped each other to the finish line -- that I just can't catch.Tomorrow is the final ceremony correct?
I think the one thing I always loved from the olympics surprisingly enough is the closing montage of the country they were in. Gives you a few mins to see the landscape and kinda rethink the past monthish of sports and everything that happened. then NBC does the whole storyline portion of it that shows highlights and everybody crying and shit.
anyway the final credits montage of the country is always my favorite from the games
I should've been more precise. I meant regular over the air NBC. I know the game was live on cable on NBCSN. I'm just puzzled why NBC chose Waterpolo instead. It was definitely broadcast on one of the NBC channels. I was at a restaurant and the game was live on TV.
https://www.quora.com/Why-are-two-bronze-medals-given-in-Olympic-judo-competitionsCan someone explain to me why There's generally 2 bronze medals awarded in almost all the fighting sports (Boxing, Taikwando etc )
