The cheaper seats sold out. The pricey ones are those in the lower part of the stadium.

The bad weather didnt help either. Lots of places without electric energy and some blocked streets by fallen trees.

I'm gonna be there in 4 years, personal goal. Japan is my second home country, and will be great enjoying the olympics without fear of muggings.

I think you should stop believing your sensationalist media. Or maybe you can provide some links about all these muggings?

You are talking about Rio de Janeiro, a huge global city. There are muggings in every big city in the world.

It's embarrassing because the organization committee thought $900 tickets would work in a country like Brazil. The general population is a little to blame for not filling the rest of the venues but it's on the organization the overpricing.

This is the first thing to think, I guess, but to be honestly, it is very common here on Brazil that things costs so much. IMO, the economic system that is currently implemented here (high taxes + bureaucracy + low economic freedom) inflates the price *a lot*.

So while there's a lot of greed by the committee, at the same time it has a lot of risk for not getting enough revenue

Rio is a dangerous as fuck city though, I wouldn't live on it hahahaha

But I'm glad things worked really well, fuck, I'm going to miss these games :P

I have been there 2 times and never have any problems, walked a lot of places at night, even in the downtown, always feeling safe. Anedoctal, I know... But if I could choose one city to live today in Brazil, Rio would sure be my pick, the energy of the city its incredible

I have relatives that live on Rio, been there several times. They live in Bangu though, quite far from the attractive places. (the factory shopping is quite beautiful though)

Doesn't seem like there are as many athletes. Do many return home right after their events?

Yeah. Swimming people are usually gone. I think it must feel weird to be in Rio for a week with nothing to do; lots of these people have other stuff to do I imagine.
