Hmm, kinda sucks that the MadCatz drum kit isn't wireless, but never mind. Suppose you can't complain for a tenner.

UK most likely has far more unsold stock.coopolon said:Holy crap. On Amazon UK it's equivalent of ~ $10, on Amazon US, it's 40!. First time I've ever had a major price disparity issue.
Probably because the Rock Band distribution over here was terrible, so third parties probably expected the software to have sold much better.Drkirby said:UK most likely has far more unsold stock.
Had to order this one :lol It's ugly as hell, but the d-pad seems awesome. Price was pretty great too! Gonna play Futari and other shmups with this.jarosh said:let me tell you straight up: this thing is bloody fantastic! i just blasted through galaxy man's stage in mm9. it was glorious! controls are pitch-perfect. the dpad and buttons are super responsive. it's like night and day compared to the 360 controller. holy fuck... and all that for ÂŁ12.

thanks for the tip, radarscope1!

brain_stew said:The Saturn USB controller works with the PS3, just buy it, nothing else comes close.
Yoritomo said:Is there a reliable place I can order one? The only ones I can find are made by retrolink. Looks like Ebay is it. Ponying up for 2 genuine saturn usb controllers.
brain_stew said:Sadly Ebay is pretty much your only option. Have a search here and at some fighting game communities to see if you can find any links to trusted sellers that are shipping the real thing. They should be manufactured by SLS and have a silver sticker saying so on the back, its a hassle, yes, but the payoff is definitely worth it.

I had a sticky A key with a standard controller, I resolved this by banging the pad on a table. I wouldn't recommend that course of action, obviously. But it seems to work for most people when they just open it to let the keys settle, then screw it close again.Pandoracell said:Slight problem here.
I just picked up a SFIV pad used because I found it for only $14. After purchasing it and getting it out of of the packaging, I found out WHY it was probably only $14: The 'RT' button sticks slightly. I have no option of returning it, so I was wondering if there is any way to get it to stop sticking? Like if I were to take it apart, what would I do?
Ultimatley it's not THAT big of a deal since it was so cheap and i'll probably never use the RT button anyway with the games i'll use it with, but any help in fixing this problem would be nice.
Unscrewing, then pulling the thing apart a bit. Not enough that it falls apart though. As soon as there's space, the buttons should settle.Pandoracell said:When you say 'open', do you mean taking the pieces of plastic apart, or just loosening the screws?
How long is the cable? I'm so excited to get mine!Foxix said:So I caved in and bought one of the mad catz drum kits from game crazy for 30 bucks after reading this thread.:lol For some reason or another Amazon didn't wanna ship to my address.
HOLY MOLY! One word: Responsive.
Really that just about sums it up, it's bloody responsive, I'm really surprised. I really wasn't expecting something this awesome to be a dorky pack in, or is the drum set the dorky part? Diagonals are a little hard to hit but I'm sure it'll wear in. Everything is nice and clicky for the most part, although the right button feels snappy there's no audible "snap".
I don't buy Arcades games but it's absolutely wonderful for the genesis collection. Something about the 360 pad just didn't feel right for playing S&K but this held up marvelously, especially on the bonus stagesI just popped in BlazBlue on a whim and I practically shit myself. I can actually do Tager's 720 (well provided I link it into something) which I still can't do on my arcade stick :lol
I've tried the street fighter pad and promptly returned it. The rubbery feeling on the pad combined with it's large size and mushy feeling made short, quick or sliding movements almost impossible to for me to pull off compared to how quick and feedback friendly this is.
Seriously, if anyone is out shopping and finds one of these drum kits on sale pick it up asap it's just phenomenal, and the headphone jack is a nice bonus too. It really feels so much like an NES pad that I keep accidentally hitting B instead of A out of habit. The only real downside is the lack of shoulder buttons. But I wonder if it's possible to make some sort of clip on buttons that plug into the drum jacks. Would buy in a heartbeat.

Thnx. That logo could have fooled anyone.Foxix said:to answer dak1dsk1's question it's just the microphone jack, sorry lol. I just wasn't expecting it to have that.

Where do I find this?
brain_stew said:It seems the best contender may come from the most unlikely of sources. The Mad Catz "portable drum kit" includes a very spiffy NES style control unit that can be used as the perfect XBLA controller and its said to have the best dpad of any 360 controller. Detailed impressions in this post:

It can be had for<ÂŁ12/$20 delivered worldwide from these two sources:

brain_stew said:Wow another super positive set of impressions. Mine shipped on Wednesday so it should be here tomorrow. I don't think Mad Catz realise what they've hit on here, they could make a killing selling a repackaged version of this minus the drums.
Azure Phoenix said:What baffles me is that when they try to create a good D-Pad they fail spectacularly and we are left with an unresponsive mushy lump. Yet this ultra basic controller which is only for designed for menu navigation has an amazing D-Pad and was probably thrown together with little effort and the most basic of parts.
All they have to do is redesign this to look like the old PS2 RetroCON and they are onto a winner.
