Sexy, but they should have priced it at $250 and skipped the built-in wireless.

They should have launched at $250 or lower and nick the 250GBs and HDMI cable.

Yeah you can fill up a harddrive fast by installing a ton of games, but not everyone installs a ton of games. I play 2 games at a time, tops, and I have no problem deleting a game I don't play anymore.

Really disappointed. I just can't justify that price in my mind; the principle. It's 4 year old hardware, the price needs to be lower. It's a little insulting imo. Between this and Kinect, how much of my money does Microsoft think they should be getting? I'm getting Sony vibes here; PS3 prices, PSPgo prices...price high! Why? BECAUSE WE CAN IS WHY.

Um... so I called my gamestop and they only offer $80 for an elite +$25 bonus trade in credit? That's a joke right?

Might not be getting a slim after all....

Ebay? I sell and buy tons of stuff on ebay. Get some awesome prices selling when people get into bidding wars.

I have a falcon elite and with games installed it's whisper quiet. Everybody with a drive larger than 20gb should install their games, noise becomes a thing of the past.
Need gaf detectives to figure if we can transfer our current files!

Yes, I need to know if I can get my data onto this bad boy from my current 360. Once I get the okay on that, and I find out how much the Kinect version runs, I'm in.

PS. This is a lesson in why you ALWAYS buy your console at Costco. Just saying.

And off course no EURO info I'll bet its not THIS week for EU and the rest of the world because the biggest webshops in EU I have not seen it yet.
I already posted the Euro info from Graeme Boyd's twitter. £199/E249 RRP and launched on July 16th.

The new packshot from Engadget.

And they're doing an unboxing. More pictures to follow.

It is as it says it right there on the spreadsheet.
It says "smaller and more efficient". So it's a 100W PSU instead of 150W and, well, smaller. Look at the picture of the motherboard. There is no PSU.

The only thing I didn't like about the original PS3 was the shiny surface, though it looked cool - that thing was a dust magnet. Way to copy, Microsoft.

Wow, that's even uglier than the PS3 Slim. I didn't think that was possible. Not that you'd care a day after you bought it I suppose, but still. Nice to see they actually made it black this time though (As opposed to dark grey like the Elite), and the new features are decent.

Of course it's still $50 too expensive, but I'd expect to see that change in the fall. They were surprisingly mum about that new port though, so I'm curious to see how the Kinect works with both the new and older models.

There's a picture of the back on majornelsons flicker. But anyway, it still has the same AV connector as the old 360s. It just adds in HDMI standard.
It sounds like it also adds an optical (audio) output. On the current 360s, getting that output requires a "special" AV cable or dongle. Cables like that are only 6 bucks on Monoprice, but still, this is an improvement.

The only downside is there's no word yet on what a user with a current hard drive can do to move the data over to the new unit.

I'd also like to know this since I have Xbox 1 DLC on my current HDD that isn't available for download anymore.

Best comparison I could do with the shots we have;

Though now that people are ahold of them i'm sure we'll see IRL comparisons soon.

Details on this?

There aren't really any details beyond: its 250gb, you can't use your own drive since it's still proprietary, it is internal though, so it's not clipping on to the side.

Fraull said:
yea just like how the ps3 works. Well thats what would make sense anyways...

Nooope. Although 250gb, you probably won't need beyond that.

Javaman said:
Custom natal port? Why on Earth would that be needed.

Kinect requires more power than a standard usb port. When you buy Kinect it will have a breakout with an extra power slot included for usage on legacy consoles. The custom port provides all the necessary power so you don't need to plug in extra crap.

You can use a transfer cable or any USB stick/drive to copy data over. Then use the license transfer tool on MS's site to transfer the licenses for your downloaded content over from the old console to the new one.

Nice. I'm waiting to see what the power brick looks like.

How in the hell were they able to keep this secret? They must have killed everyone that worked on it.

Oh nvm, the qoute you had was talking about the HDD. So confused on that.

360 slim looks nice.Interesting that Xbox was launched with an internal hard drive, Xbox 360 with external and now it's internal again.

Spreadsheet again;

honest question:

Why the onslaught of "omg why no slot drive?!"

Biggest reason is probably because people like to complain. Other reason would be the other two competing consoles on the market have them.

Proprietary?

Anyway, nice bump in design, the original 360 is second only to the original Xbox for me in terrible aesthetics.

I don't get why there is still a brick.....no new news to anybody, but the original 360 hardware must have been worst designed consumer device ever.

I mean 5 years later and we still have the damn power brick and are barely smaller? FFS

Its got to be a different disk drive though, right?

Right now I have a functional Elite with a drive that can't recognize a disk to save its life. So, basically its a drain bamaged unit now. I'm hesitant to replace it with a unit with the same cheap drive though.

The spec sheet lists the slim as "whisper quiet". Didn't a lot of the noise come from the drive? So, could I expect at least new drive hardware?
