In terms of shaders and effects, no, the PSP doesn't even come close.
In that regard, it's closer to the 360.
Really? We'll I'll believe it when I see it, I don't want to overhype the graphics which already look amazing.

You can "see" it now. He never said the graphics are close to the 360's, just the effects/shaders which are clearly displayed in the screenshots.

huh, Nintendogs + Cats has fur shading, which led me to the the PSP could at least do that

Errr, what?
Nintendogs+Cats is a 3DS game.
If the 3DS is more powerful than the PSP, then why would the PSP be able to do that?

don't know. just though it could do some basic fur shading. don't have a reason why I thought that

PSP has come a long way graphically since launch, maybe you think too much of it.

But these alpha 3DS games already crap over it.

Ok 3 things.

1) Yes it's an entirely new one.

2) Get it on VC and finish man. The game is seriously amazing.

3) Get TTYD if you haven't. One of the best games of last gen. It's amazing.

So is it confirmed there's no US conference on 9/29 as well?
No, there definitely will be a US and European conference too. There is every year. Though, like usual, the invitations are going to be sent out a bit closer to the date.

Actually as far as I'm aware, the invitations to the Japanese conference haven't been sent out yet either. The only reason we know it's happening on the 29th is because Nintendo made that off-hand comment.

What possible use would capacitive touchscreens be? The only way you get the sort of precision you need for gaming on a touch device is via a stylus. Capacitive touchscreens mean that you simply can't use any old piece of plastic for the purpose and you'll get screwed on that cost.

I'm sure there will be at least a NA event on the 28th/29th, since they'll have to announce that it's coming out on November 14th.

Exactly. What I'm personally waiting for confirmation for is whether or not the quality of the touchscreen has been improved over the DS's. If they make it more sensitive and smudge resistant, then we could also be using our thumbs on the thing, just like on an i-device.

Also killing the elephant in the room, all Resistive touchscreens are in fact capable of multitouch. They're just not natively as accurate at it as capacitive touchscreens are, so they are much more dependant on the quality of the algorithm.

Why would you want Mutlitouch on such a small screen, anyway?
Seems silly.

And didn't Iwata say at the E3 conference that they've greatly improved the touch screen?

Two styli? Honestly, whilst I wouldn't want it to be overused, it could still prove to have it uses in the right instances.

I don't think so or at least I don't remember him saying that. Though given how much resistive technology has improved these past 6 years, it's probably a given.

Ice Age was pretty good.

Not Dreamworks.

And the only good one was the first one. The next two were offensive.

I hate Dreamwork films. Pixar on the other hand are great.

Kung Fu Panda, while not Pixar quality, was a really great movie.

We still haven't seen the systems UI, right?

Nope. Seeing how Nintendo wants to upgrade their online system, a new OS could be a possibility.

Nope.
We've seen nothing outside of a few movies and tech demos.
We have no idea how the OS will work, how the online works or anything like that.

The 2nd was great. The 3rd was offensive.

I just think capacative is much more accurate and responsive. You can get a stylus for the capacative screens too I think it just has a tiny bit of metal on the end.

I was just about to ask about that elephant. While multitouch isn't a critical need on a system with, you know, buttons, it does great things on iOS/Android devices and could be useful to Nintendo if they designed around it. I don't hold out hope, but I really would like it if they did have multitouch on their 3DS screen.
