I won't settle for less.
i will fucking LOL so hard.
I imagine depictions of any religious leader are probably banned though, on the premise of 5th Cell not wanting to be suicide bombed over a family game.

That's the way it is currently, according to the interview. Once you play a level once with a certain item, you can't use it again for the rest of the times you play that level...unless you play it in free play mode, which is currently unlocked after beating a level 3 times. Therefore, I bet it keeps a counter of the times beaten in normal mode, making what you suggested possible.EatChildren said:You guys should include a challenge mode where the word usage does not reset. In 'Challenge Mode' once a word is used in a puzzle it will be impossible to use it again.
That way people could have epic competitions to see how many times a particular puzzle can be solved, slowly but surly grinding their way through all the possibilities.
I'd be interesting to see how creative people get when ideas start running thin.

This would be awesome if it covered the entire game. Trying to go through without ever using a word twice the entire way through would be insane....then you could unlock Ission Mimpossible Mode, trying to do it without using any of the words you used for your entire first run.EatChildren said:You guys should include a challenge mode where the word usage does not reset. either way this isnt really anything that can only be done on the DS..
you can do the same damn thing with the PC (keyboard), the 360 (Voice command, chatpad, keyboard) or PS3..
thats a good question :lolxfactor said:Is there a spellcheck feature in the game?

Don't you see? Any game that can't ONLY be done on the DS should really be released on a REAL platform. Like the PC or Xbox, not a dumb little kiddie Nintendo system. PSP version would more graphix!freddy said:....who cares?

Thank goodness copyrighted stuff can't be in the game, or else copies of Ubisoft's crappy titles would start pouring onto the screen...xfactor said:"this game suckz! teh other day i wrote 'dogz' n 'hamsterz' but nothing came out!!1!"

The obvious example here would be to call the Sun to shine heavily (but could also make ice melt or whatever). Or rain to put out fire, put weight in a barrel or whatever by filling it with water. Or an earthquake to make cracks in the ground (and make the tree like in the movie fall down). Or the wind, etc. That would be pretty awesome if something like that would be in the game. Sorry if it's already asked.

I don't really see how it's Molyneux syndrome at all. They have a clearly defined specific goal here. And Molyneux syndrome is repeatedly promising shit that you never deliver. I think 5th Cell has earned a bit of trust, based on their track record. They don't have to model every object in the world, but hey - you obviously didn't read the interview, or possibly you didn't understand it, so I doubt I'm going to get through to you here.PseudoKirby said:because its Molynuex Syndrome

Neomoto said:PseudoKirby does have a point though. Hell, it could even be done in a browser flash game, basicly you have a gigantic inventory with items that you show in the world by typing (or writing) it's name. Making the game so that you can do all kinds of different things in a level to get the same endresult is more impressive to me (from programming point of view).
But yeah, because it is possible on other platforms as well (duh), doesn't mean it itsn't awesome and very innovative. And maybe touchscreen writing is more fun then typing. If I was 5th Cell, I would think about doing a Wii(Ware) version as well. I mean, at the end of the development cycle you have gigantic amounts of data and models and the game engine, for a WiiWare you can literally re-use all data from every model that you already made (and perhaps make the models in 3D). Return of investment should be pretty high, not to mention that a WiiWare version would rock as well, it would also use the Wii remote instead of stylus.
Btw, when I saw this screenshot, I was wondering if you can use nature elements as well? The obvious example here would be to call the Sun to shine heavily (but could also make ice melt or whatever). Awesome. And about the first part of your reply. Yes I know, I merely said something about how the game works. I didn't follow anything of the discussion with some posters and PseudoKirby, I just read that one post about that it could be done on other systems. Which is correct, but indeed doesn't mean anything.xfactor said:Thing is, there's no meaning to his point at all. So what does it mean if the game can be done on other console? Nothing. The "how is that possible" isn't just the creation of the things alone. There's also the interaction between the things that you create too.
btw, Jackson have confirmed that you can create fire with a torch, and that Tsunami can be made too. Water and stuffs should be included too.
I'd like a big company to publish it so 5th Cell could use their copyrighted characters. Nintendo would be pretty awesome because we'd possibly get to summon Mario or ride on Yoshi.jesusraz said:Anyone got any thoughts on who'd be the ideal publisher to help push a project like this? Might seem obvious, but after seeing how well Nintendo promoted Prof Layton here in Europe, it'd be great to see Scribblenauts get the same sort of coverage, since it's like to appeal to the 'training' casual audience as well as mainstream gamers.
Nonono, about 25 kilobytes for 50,000 Animal Crossing designs. If each Scribblenauts item took 5,000 times as much space, that would come to about 125 megabytes.Galactic Fork said:and 25KB for each item? if you had 50,000 of those, that'd be 1.25 GB. Each item would need to be well less than 25 kb to have a word count into the tens of thousands.
Still, offering many things to do won't cover every conceivable thing people might want to do with a combination of items. I'm sure we'll still have plenty of options, but perhaps not everything I see on MacGyver will be possible.charlequin said:Er... why would it? If every object has its own unique properties and physics, everything should be solvable in multiple distinct ways (and Jackson even mentions the idea that you can solve every level 3+ times with different objects.)
If it works out it should be something like the Incredible Machine, where many of the puzzles can be solved in numerous different ways.
I envision high sales for the Scribblenauts strategy guide:xfactor said:Is there a spellcheck feature in the game? I don't want bunch of 8 year old kids spreading negative words about this game just because they can't get the things they want due to them misspelling the word.
