$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

I just bought the Hanafuda, and Wood Print, and 3D Mario cover plates just because it seems like that stuff will become rare soon enough due to the push for the Small New 3DS finally.

And best buy sells a charger that will work with all the DS family I believe.

There are no grips for the small NN3DS besides the cheap piece of plastic there is around.

lol realized each set of screws is one screw and one holder. So I had to order 3 more.

Went and checked if the plates were still in stock to maybe cancel the original order and found out there was a 6% off 24 hour special.

Cancelled it and reordered the 3 cover plates with 6 screws while paying the same price as the old order.
 
Setting up my repair was relatively painless. Just hope they don't think the physical damage was caused by me and have me pay...Ugh.
 
So is this deal over? I wanted a white one, but they seem to be sold out every where with the exception of endless scalpers. I was hoping I'd be able to get one online after Christmas for the same $99 price.

In what context? Like a "hey you just bought these but FYI they're messed up, still want them?" Kinda context?
 
So these seem to be pretty much identical to the official plates. Gotta love China and their mass production and general shadiness. Shame that even the plastic film couldn't protect them though.

I would say the reason things on Aliexpress are cheap is mostly because you're cutting out a lot of the middle-men between you and the manufacturer. The official/retail ones are mass produced too and in China non the less (they might even come from the same factories), but instead of them going through the regular QC, packaging, distribution and retail stores, you're buying them from "shady" (using your word) dealers that don't have the overheads and profit margins that get piled on when the same product goes through the official supply chain.

Incidentally I watched a documentary earlier today that covered this topic of copy/knockoff products (called "Shanzhai" in China). I found it very interesting and recommend it if you have an hour to spare: Shenzhen: The Silicon Valley of Hardware (Full Documentary) | WIRED

Interesting, I'll give it a watch. Nintendo can't be too happy about these much cheaper plates though. There's even PlayStation ones lol
 
I can check them more when I get them, but I wouldn't be surprised if these are from the lots that don't pass QC, so they may be the ones with imperfections that won't get accepted by Nintendo.

Is there any indication that this price will return? Even for a plain n3DS. Wasn't super interested at the time but now I'm wanting to upgrade my 3DS XL for XC and those SNES games.

There's a store selling the pokemon 20th anniversary version for $200 but I'm not ready to pay that much lol.
 
I think I'm going to return my black unit to Amazon. I saw a New XL in person the other day, and I just can't go back down screen size. My dual IPS Animal Crossing OG XL is enough for me right now, I'll take a chance later on a New 3DS XL when price permits.

Unless anyone would like to buy it from me and pay shipping ($5-15? I'm not sure. USPS probably cheapest, maybe $5?). So $105-115 total.

Disclaimer - I am a collector and keep everything - manuals, bags, inserts and I keep them in mint condition. I did open this unit to look at it. I did update the firmware. I did this to be able to login to the web browser to test the screens with that image to determine it was a dual TN screen. If this doesn't bother you and you are still interested - please PM me. I can provide pictures packing it back up in the condition received. There is no play time on this unit.

Otherwise, I understand, I will return to Amazon if no one is interested.

lol so mine now has the scratches from the lower screen bezel on the right side of the top screen. just like my old old 3DS. i thought this got fixed.

At this point I'm just looking forward to being done either way.

If Nintendo doesn't want my money, I can throw that into the Steam Sale.

Got no issues chilling with my launch 3DS waiting for a real $99 price point.
 
I know there are a good number of us that have 12/16 as the delivery date for our Walmart BF orders. No sign of life or movement from the order status screen.

Thanks for the links! I have been trying to find this Zelda plate for a while after the one I ordered for $25 was cancelled by the Amazon seller then re-listed for $60 just as the craze hit.

I have been looking at cases but really like to see them in person to pull the trigger, but for less than $5 I will take a shot at these. They look the same as the ones in store with the added bonus of having a bump for the charger.

Now to wait ...

Yup same boat. I am going to be really pissed if they cancel my order after making me wait for 3 weeks.

Me too. I haven't made all necessary purchases but I picked up DQ7 since I had a visa gift card that was gonna start losing value and I really don't want to have to return it.
