240p is the gold standard for Virtual Console games
Your line of reasoning doesn't apply to everyone, and your attitude is condescending. Just because the only available options are varying degrees of bad doesn't mean some people don't want to get the least bad ones of the bunch, especially when they love the system and the games on it and plan to hold on to their systems for years and years to come.
Despite its flaws, the New 3DS is very special to me (and it's my favorite system of the current AND past generations combined), because not only does it have a fantastic library of exclusive games, but also perfect, near-perfect and better-than-original (in the case of Sega/M2) ports of 8 and 16 bit and arcade classics, in
portable form. And for someone like me who absolutely loves auto-stereoscopic 3D, and seeing that the Switch doesn't have that (nor does any other system for that matter), it makes me all the more inclined to try my damnedest to procure the best version of this hardware possible, because I will be cherishing it for years and years after its no longer in retail or supported.
Even if you don't care for 3D, but are a gamer and a collector who doesn't sell off their games and system the day a successor is released, then the 3DS is the last of the DS-line and that makes it special and something a lot of gamers will hold on to, since we know Switch will not be backwards compatible.
