I wouldn't play Theatrhythm nor Project Mirai DX without one.
I am waiting for the protectors to arrive before setting up the 3DS.
Bottom screen will get a bunch of tiny scratches from basic use so it is recommended. Hori brand makes excellent screen protectors and they are also the easiest to install.

Yes. Years ago I had an original DS and it had several scratches on the bottom screen. Most were shallow but a few were pretty deep from playing games like WarioWare Touched and Feel the Magic too aggressively.

Yes, the screens that changed were the regular New 3DS.
You just plug it into any random USB plug (like an unused phone charger)?You guys should look into getting this. Been using it for years on my old 3DS with no ill effect.

I bought the USB cable I use now back when the DSi first came out and I'm glad that the ports haven't changed since then lol. The cable also has hookups for the DS lite and and the DS phat (and the GBASP by extension).

If you find an XL with an IPS screen, such as a display model in best buy, target, etc, the Super Stable 3D works impressively well. You can tilt the screen laterally to surprisingly large angles and the 3D still works great and the image stays the same. Sure, there are limits; it doesn't work so well in longitudinal directions and you can't do it too fast, but it's impressive.
In the TN screens, the 3D tracking works, but the image still gets messed up. On the O3DS, you may recall that tilting the 3DS causes a shimmering effect, in addition to the 3D losing focus. For the N3DS with TN screens, the 3D remains in focus, but the shimmering effect remains. The shimmering though, is a bit less intense and occurs much more rapidly, which reduces it's effect, yet it's still very noticeable.
It's kind of why I was disappointed in my N3DS. I was hoping it work work like the display XL models I had played with.

No one is playing them at odd angles, that is just a way to check which one you got or easily demonstrate a way to do so.
The fact is that even when looking at the screens straight on the IPS have more vivid colors and a more pleasant look overall. As for the 3D, yeah there might not be a difference if your hands and your head are fixed in position 100% of the time, but realistically that's not achievable. Just a moment ago I was playing the second boss in level 20 in Gunman Clive and the 3D kept breaking up because I was tensed up from the difficulty and quick reflexes needed. So the more stable 3D of the IPS would have been welcome there.
And if you're not playing in 3D, the IPS will look a whole of a lot better if someone has a friend/wife/sibling sitting next to them watching.
We get it, you don't think IPS vs TN is a big deal. But I wish you'd stop trying to push your opinion on those who feel otherwise.

For those still waiting for Amazon deliveries, here's my anecdote. Amazon first listed the delivery date as Tuesday (free Prime shipping), and then early yesterday updated the delivery date to yesterday (Sunday). Sadly it did not actually arrive yesterday, but now says it's out for delivery today (Monday). I can't complain, as this still beats the original estimate, and Amazon did give me a free month of Prime on top of it. 
I am near a major city on the east coast of the US and definitely within 50 miles of an Amazon distribution center, so take that as you will.

What's the best way of swapping my n3DSXL's 64GB card to my n3DSXL, without losing any of the saves/installs?
The hinge on the n3ds DOES NOT CRACK like the nXL does. The nXL was impossible to pull out stealthily late at night, in bed, because of the awful sound of tortured plastic. This feels much better.

Seems like more of a pain than it's worth. The AC adapter is already much easier to pack away than usb cords.
Just do the transfer and tell it you are gonna swap the card when it asks. It's super easy.

Thanks for this, I was looking at different screen protectors since I grabbed the Black one and my girlfriend has the Pokemon one. Can't really argue with $1 and change for 2 sets of screen protectors.
This is a weird question but I hope someone can help. Can I transfer my account from my old 3DS to this one without necessarily transferring all the games I have on it.

Was the first in line and got the Black New 3DS and the dude behind me got the white. Sold out in seconds. Also I got Corpse Party!! c:

The only game I couldn't transfer was that Wario Ware DS game that was a Club Nintendo reward. Do I need to call Nintendo to have that redownload? It isn't on the eShop..
Edit: Got it, it was sitting at the top of my 'redownloadable software' in EShop, I guess it put all the titles there that couldn't be transferred normally. (Demo's included)

It surprises me that it's so hard to get ahold of in some places. I went to Best Buy about noon on Friday (here in Canada) and they had 4 or 5 black N3DSs on the shelf, grabbed one for myself.
