Thanks, started the process. This is scary as hell! What if I lose my sweet, sweet Animal Crossing village?!
You'll be fine, I've upgraded at each new version of the 3DS (OG>XL>N XL>N) using that process and never lost a thing. :-D
I'm thinking about getting a decal sticker for my white new 3ds. Would putting a sticker on a textured cover plate be a bad idea? Do I need to buy smooth cover plates first?
edit: Bought the Kirby matte cover plates instead.
Also, about the Super Stable 3D on IPS and TN:
If you find an XL with an IPS screen, such as a display model in best buy, target, etc, the Super Stable 3D works impressively well. You can tilt the screen laterally to surprisingly large angles and the 3D still works great and the image stays the same. Sure, there are limits; it doesn't work so well in longitudinal directions and you can't do it too fast, but it's impressive.
In the TN screens, the 3D tracking works, but the image still gets messed up. On the O3DS, you may recall that tilting the 3DS causes a shimmering effect, in addition to the 3D losing focus. For the N3DS with TN screens, the 3D remains in focus, but the shimmering effect remains. The shimmering though, is a bit less intense and occurs much more rapidly, which reduces it's effect, yet it's still very noticeable.
It's kind of why I was disappointed in my N3DS. I was hoping it work work like the display XL models I had played with.
Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I was about to order these after seeing your post, then I thought to google "XtremeGuard hi-def review" and there seem to be a lot of complaints about them. Think I'll pass. The non-Dry Install ones might be better?
I have the white one, but the backlight on the touchscreen is actually visible through the plastic on the left hand side of the screen. It shows up as two spots and is only visible when playing in the dark. Anyone else have this?
I wanted the black one but I was nice and let the other two people who had been out all night for BF have the 2 black ones. Either way it's not much of an issue for me but just wondering if others had this as well. This happens on my white PSP. Cost of doing business on the white, I suppose.
Does anyone know if Amazon sells the "Zero Air" screen protectors from Hori, or will I have to go to Nippon-Yasan or Play Asia for those/
Amazon Japan does and they're $4 a piece.
I ordered those on Thursday (when I ordered my 3DS), they were shipped on Friday, and it will arrive tomorrow. Shipping is very fast. You should get it in 2-3 days.
Wal-Mart order from Friday hasn't shipped. Expected delivery is still 11/30 though
How do you order form Amazon Japan to the US?
Just go to the website and order how you would normally do on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/?tag=
It's the same setup. It's got an option for English language so you can navigate around. It'll tell which items can or can not be shipped to the US. Third party stuff (even when it's fulfilled by Amazon Japan) can't be shipped to the US. It may have changed now since I set mine up 2-3 years ago, but Amazon Japan also requires you to set up a separate account.
On Amazon's other foreign sites like UK, Germany, etc. you don't have to do that. You can just sign in with your regular Amazon US account and order. You can try it with Amazon Japan, but like I said, it wouldn't let me sign in with my US account 2-3 years ago, so I had to set up an account specifically for their site.
Does this have a similar battery life to the new 3DS XL? I hope it's not of the og 3DS variety.
Thanks, I wish I could use my US prime for Amazon Japan.

This is exactly me right now. Except I ordered on Wednesday. Super annoying. I'm on hold with customer support right now. No way that's getting shipped to me in two days.

Yeah, let me know what they say. I paid a bit extra for shipping to get a shorter turn-around, but I'm not very optimistic at this point.
I did too. I waited 30 mins for a rep to get on the line as they counted it down. "A representative will be with you in approximately 15 minutes." Once it got down to under a minute, it went back to "26" minutes. Fuck Walmart.
I talked to someone in the customer service chat feature on their website. They said it's quite possible it has already shipped but wasn't scanned at pickup or that it's just stuck in processing due to the holidays. Basically told me to wait a few extra days and see.
Did you check your credit card to make sure you were charged? I made two separate orders, but, I just checked mine and was only charged for one. I guess I'll wait until Wednesday.
It surprises me that it's so hard to get ahold of in some places. I went to Best Buy about noon on Friday (here in Canada) and they had 4 or 5 black N3DSs on the shelf, grabbed one for myself.
damn then my XL is TN then. I was already liking the super stable 3D but that IPS description of it sounds way betterAlso, about the Super Stable 3D on IPS and TN:

I never bothered with screen protectors for my gaming handhelds... *shrug*
Any portland oregon area gaf, looks like I will have a second black unit if anyone wants to meet up, say washington square or downtown or something. If nobody local wants it, I would ship it. Purchased in oregon, so no sales tax.
