$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

My top screen protector has a weird smudge under them that almost looks like moisture but I can't imagine how it would have gotten there. It's invisible when the screen is on or when you're not in direct sunlight so it doesn't bother me as much as it should.

Plus if I removed the protectors to reinstall them I'd probably just make things worse. (As what happened on the bottom screen, which is a different story entirely.)

Does anyone know if Amazon sells the "Zero Air" screen protectors from Hori, or will I have to go to Nippon-Yasan or Play Asia for those/

I was really tempted to buy the XL yesterday when amazon had them for $170. But I don't think $70 is worth the slightly bigger screen, so I'm just going to keep the Mario Black. After playing for a while, my worries have decreased substantially.

It does look better than my original 3DS. The bigger screen amplifies the double image effect, but the original also had it on Lugi's Mansion, but it wasn't as pronounced. Also I do like the fact that you can change plates. It essentially will always look new.

I'm thinking about getting a decal sticker for my white new 3ds. Would putting a sticker on a textured cover plate be a bad idea? Do I need to buy smooth cover plates first?

edit: Bought the Kirby matte cover plates instead.

Did you buy from Nintendo America's online site? or is there another place to order these things from?

It looks like NoA sold out of the Kirby cover plates >_> ...

It was dipping in and out of availability but it looks like they completely pulled it from their site selection too.

Also, about the Super Stable 3D on IPS and TN:

If you find an XL with an IPS screen, such as a display model in best buy, target, etc, the Super Stable 3D works impressively well. You can tilt the screen laterally to surprisingly large angles and the 3D still works great and the image stays the same. Sure, there are limits; it doesn't work so well in longitudinal directions and you can't do it too fast, but it's impressive.

In the TN screens, the 3D tracking works, but the image still gets messed up. On the O3DS, you may recall that tilting the 3DS causes a shimmering effect, in addition to the 3D losing focus. For the N3DS with TN screens, the 3D remains in focus, but the shimmering effect remains. The shimmering though, is a bit less intense and occurs much more rapidly, which reduces it's effect, yet it's still very noticeable.

It's kind of why I was disappointed in my N3DS. I was hoping it work work like the display XL models I had played with.

This is 100% true.

Have used both types of screens (old IPS NXL, TN Nsmall).

Just ordered over weekend guaranteed Nsmall Mario dual IPS on EBay (paid premium), but the IPS is worth it, to me.

I've hated the TN - I only hope the one ordered will have sturdy hinges (no wobble AT ALL), like my current AC NSmall.

How do I tell if my n3DS XL has the 'good' screens?

damn i really want to catch one of the n3DS... not sure about white or black though. any negatives to the white after long usage?

also where does one buy these outside of the deal? I'd even consider picking up the animal crossing bundle. i really want a smaller n3DS!

I got one of each color for my nephews but have opted to get them a xb1 instead so if anyone wants to buy them off of me + shipping before I return them at the end of the week, shoot me a PM

edit: both gone!

Didn't realize the XL doesn't have faceplates.

LOL Nintendo you crazy. Its like you dont like money

and shit yall ruined my bliss. Really annoyed that this IPS vs TN stuff is a thing. I didn't think I would mind the difference, but its something that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I was about to order these after seeing your post, then I thought to google "XtremeGuard hi-def review" and there seem to be a lot of complaints about them. Think I'll pass. The non-Dry Install ones might be better?

Damn wish I'd thought to look them up. Oh well, $1.12 isn't something I'm gonna fight them about since it already went through. I just won't put it on. I know that with N3DS they do tend to scratch the top screen if they are put in a case that's too tight. Any other recommendations for Screen Protectors.

I have the white one, but the backlight on the touchscreen is actually visible through the plastic on the left hand side of the screen. It shows up as two spots and is only visible when playing in the dark. Anyone else have this?

This happens on my white PSP. Cost of doing business on the white, I suppose.

I wanted the black one but I was nice and let the other two people who had been out all night for BF have the 2 black ones. Either way it's not much of an issue for me but just wondering if others had this as well.

Amazon Japan does and they're $4 a piece.

I ordered those on Thursday (when I ordered my 3DS), they were shipped on Friday, and it will arrive tomorrow. Shipping is very fast. You should get it in 2-3 days.

How do you order form Amazon Japan to the US?

Just go to the website and order how you would normally do on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/?tag=

It's the same setup. It's got an option for English language so you can navigate around. It'll tell which items can or can not be shipped to the US. Third party stuff (even when it's fulfilled by Amazon Japan) can't be shipped to the US. It may have changed now since I set mine up 2-3 years ago, but Amazon Japan also requires you to set up a separate account.

On Amazon's other foreign sites like UK, Germany, etc. you don't have to do that. You can just sign in with your regular Amazon US account and order. You can try it with Amazon Japan, but like I said, it wouldn't let me sign in with my US account 2-3 years ago, so I had to set up an account specifically for their site.

Thanks, I wish I could use my US prime for Amazon Japan.

No problem. Yeah, it would be nice if you could use US Prime. You have to buy Prime for Amazon Japan specifically instead. And even then, I think you only get the free 2 day shipping if you live in Japan, so international orders are out of the question.

Even though you have to pay for it, shipping is super fast internationally

Hmm... If I understand what you are experiencing, then I just checked my white N3DS (Pokemon bundle one) and I don't see any light visible through the plastic on mine in the dark. I took it into a pitch black closet to double-check, and no light showing through.

This is exactly me right now. Except I ordered on Wednesday. Super annoying. I'm on hold with customer support right now. No way that's getting shipped to me in two days.

Yeah, let me know what they say. I paid a bit extra for shipping to get a shorter turn-around, but I'm not very optimistic at this point.

I received by black one and it is Dual TN panels. Here it is compared to my Pokemon anniversary one. which is dual IPS.

Got mine in early today from amazon. Black and tn screens I assume. I'll post pics later. Foam wrapped around it if that means anything. I might have an ips on my bigger monster hunter new 3ds xl and might just keep it need more time to dick with it.

I did too. I waited 30 mins for a rep to get on the line as they counted it down. "A representative will be with you in approximately 15 minutes." Once it got down to under a minute, it went back to "26" minutes. Fuck Walmart.

I talked to someone in the customer service chat feature on their website. They said it's quite possible it has already shipped but wasn't scanned at pickup or that it's just stuck in processing due to the holidays. Basically told me to wait a few extra days and see.

Had to cancel my Toys R Us order. Thing was stuck on Item(s) Located in Stock for 5 days now.

This whole promo has been a shitshow.

is $130 something fair to ask for this? i put mine up for sale cause the screens are way too small. I dont want to profit on anyone, i just want to cover my total cost + shipping

Did you check your credit card to make sure you were charged? I made two separate orders, but, I just checked mine and was only charged for one. I guess I'll wait until Wednesday.

Charges pending (I ordered a black one that's supposed to be in on 11/30 and a white when they briefly popped up on Saturday, which is supposed to be in on 12/27). I think that's a goodish sign?

It surprises me that it's so hard to get ahold of in some places. I went to Best Buy about noon on Friday (here in Canada) and they had 4 or 5 black N3DSs on the shelf, grabbed one for myself.

Same. Here in Seattle, we drove to Frys for a little window shopping thursday late evening and they had like 10+ n3ds just sitting on a table by the video game section. One of the employees told me he was surprised they didn't sell out quickly.

damn then my XL is TN then. I was already liking the super stable 3D but that IPS description of it sounds way better

Any portland oregon area gaf, looks like I will have a second black unit if anyone wants to meet up, say washington square or downtown or something. If nobody local wants it, I would ship it. Purchased in oregon, so no sales tax.

I never bothered with screen protectors for my gaming handhelds... *shrug*

Me neither. Keep seeing talk about them and getting the urge to order one, but I used my XL for years, even playing touch heavy games, and traveled with it, and I have no noticeable scratches.

Snagged a white one at Target yesterday just after leaving the movie theater. My GF had to run into Target for something so I went and checked...I thought my eyes deceived me! They only 2 on the shelf and had been in stock about an hour. When I was checking out another guy came and got the other.....and gone!
