So true. I was checking Nest thermostats over Sunday and had stores that was listed in stock, but when I went to the stores, it was sold out.

This happened to me too. I assume it was just employees keeping them. A store near me was showing as green "In Stock" (not yellow "limited stock") at night around close of the store. When it reopened in the morning it was out of stock. You would think that the website inventory wold be tied to point of sales transactions. With all the modern inventory tracking tools available I doubt that normal procedure is physically counting them at night and then typing the number into the website inventory manually. The other stores seemed to have a realistic inventory patterns.
I am probably just be being paranoid. I need to step up my bot game before the Switch preorders start.
Ah ok, I ordered mine around noon CST on Thanksgiving (24th) so maybe that's why mine hasn't cancelled [yet].
Smart. I waited to order mine until last week and from what I hear the prices on the Amazon marketplace have gone up, especially for the Zelda plates. Luckily there are only a few I would be interested in picking up

Opened up both the white and black ones that showed up today, set them up for the kids for Christmas with their names, etc. and put on the face plate. Slick little systems. I'm sure I got the TN screens, though they look fine so I wouldn't have noticed since these are my first 3DS systems.
The black one had a slight yellow tinge when power save was OFF. Turning it ON made the screen get a bluer tint.
The white had less of an effect, as the screen was less yellow to begin with. Neither was severe.
I think I like the white more, but that one is going to my daughter. I'm sure I"ll be playing more then either my son or daughter however.

Such a good look. I just wish the base plastic was black instead of white. The edges really stand out on that plate at certain angles.

Anyone who ordered from Gamestop has got their 3DS shipped? I ordered mine last week, and they shipped the charger but not the console. I'm not optimistic about this, but they still haven't shipped the Skyrim I bought with the 3DS and charger so I'm hoping it's just a delay caused by the holidays.
Dumb question but...how long can one expect to play upon first boot before it dies?
Edit, second dumb question: if I want to preserve the opportunity to homebrew this thing when/if the proper software is released in December, should I never connect this to the internet, or is it ok to do so but make sure not to update?

Didnt work out so well for me. Chatted with Walmart.com support and they were pretty much just like "still pending since it's out of stock, you'll be notified when more arrive" that's fine and all, I just would have appreciated some communication because it still says pick up tomorrow. If it doesn't look likely they could shoot me an email saying wait for restock or something like 2 days before. Ah well...

I would fully charge it the first time before using it. It shouldn't matter for modern batteries but Nintendo still says it in the guide, so I'd do it just in case...

I ordered from Gamestop on Sunday and mine is arriving tomorrow. If you ordered last week no idea why it wouldn't have shipped yet. This whole thing is a bit of a fiasco.
I'm glad they have that too... would be really annoying to use the nub if it wasn't there.

Got home late last night and setup my white new 3ds model. I liked my 3DS XL it was okay, this model is fantastic. The screen is crisp and I love the size of it.
Best part is I went to use my micro sd to sd adapter to do the 3ds xl to new 3ds transfer and found a 32gb micro sd card in it.

So I finally opened up my new n3DS and, based on what I heard and comparing with my current XL, it looks like I have dual TN screens. :/

Just saw a commercial for this system tonight showing the $99 price. Can't believe they would have a commercial when these things are essentially sold out. Unless they are going to keep stock trickling in. Still, the commercial was overkill..no need, these things are selling themselves.

My black N3DS finally got sent out for shipping. Christ.
I contacted them and referenced both orders that were late and didn't even ship the day they should have arrived. In the email I pasted this link for reference:

And asked if I am eligible for a free month since my guaranteed delivery date was wrong. They responded apologizing and said they would give me a free month of Prime extension.

Thank you! Yeah, I wasn't even expecting to find any 3ds systems. I had saved a couple on eBay, thinking I would buy one if I couldn't find. Being it's a small town though... check everywhere, and anywhere if you're still looking.

Moved my old faceplates over to the black n3DS. I do really like the Mario ones, though.

This usually only applies if they send the item out but there is a delay with the shipping service. Like if they mail it and it takes three days instead of two because of some shipping error.

My guess would be it has about half a charge, so about 1.5 to 3 hours.
You can connect to the Internet and it will automatically download the update in the background and pop up a nag screen once a day asking you to update. As long as you hit Cancel every time and don't let it update you'll be fine, but it's annoying.

YW7010 and 7011. 7012 is a crapshoot with a good chance of at least 1 IPS either top or bottom. 7013 and on are all mostly TN.

Thanks, I'll check my local stores this Friday. The plastic backlight bleeding, poor quality control and potentially worse 3D effect have kinda scared me off the $99 3DS.

Definitely look. But at the same time, if you end up not finding one and aren't willing to pay the exorbitant price for a dual IPS on ebay, I'd still recommend getting the $99 3DS as an alternative. It's not as good but it's still useable.
