The main reason I bought an Iphone was cause it's browser handles pages with no trouble, making it fairly effortlessly to browse them.... not to mention post on them.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/20/i-engadget-com-engadget-for-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch/For obvious reasons, we're not really big believers in optimizing Engadget for individual devices or platforms. Despite the unrelenting number of requests for an iPhone-optimized version of Engadget, we thought we'd let Apple stand by its whole "the real internet in your pocket" thing. And then we ran the numbers. We could hardly believe it.

I tried to download a single page from a thread and see how much bandwidth it would spend and with all the avatars and not many images in the thread it was about 3MB... For 1 page! With the 100 MB a month download limit I have, that is pretty limiting.
So maybe there could be a version with no images at all, another one with just the avatars disabled and another one with everything?![]()

Totally forgot about that lolckohler said:No. Non-logged in users can't read that forum so neither can this.
You should check out what that "Settings" button on the first page of the site does.joaomgcd said:I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but would it be possible to do a version with no images?

FYI, Firmware 2.1 has added full screen support for web apps.ckohler said:Update:
- Tap on photos to open them in a new window where you can pinch/zoom/pan
- Added Help, Tips and About information to Main menu
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;" />
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />
<meta names="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black-translucent" />
Welcome, just thought I'd pass the information on to one of my favorite webapps.ckohler said:Thanks. I need to look into this some more. This may not work in full-screen mode because my webapp doesn't make ajax calls.
I would need to know what the browser user-agent is.sp0rsk said:Hey, so I tried using this with the new DSi browser, and it just forwards me to the regular forum, is there any way you could allow the DSi browser to view the forum using this app? Regular gaf is a little too hard to read with all the pics and stuff.

Er...you could always do this. Clear your cookies and viola!DaCocoBrova said:The real beauty of this app is the ability to view GAF when you're banned.

A dedicated app for the iPhone or G1 would be amazing, considering how much Safari crashes on the iPhone.Ignatz Mouse said:Mine too, but a dedicated app would be pretty slick.

I don't think banning is intended to keep you from reading the site.

Any chance of a Blackberry version ?dfi said:Just got an android g1 and this is awesome. Thanks!
Any plans on adding a search feature? That would make it perfect.

Reading GAF on a phone is easily the best with this app, but I agree with the posting point.Meier said:I wish GAF would make a mobile version of the site natively. Rivals wireless = godly. This is pretty sweet but I've never found much use for it without the posting ability. Great implementation though.
