Achieve Trophies | August 2012 Thread | Hakooma Matata

No, the trophy system is not ruined. The PS3 trophy system is - with the exception of online server stat based trophies and performance based trophies that won't pop with manipulated saves, every PS3 format software (retail and PSN) are vulnerable. It's only a ticking clock until Little Billy gets his "platty save" for a game to fall. Vita is pure only because of how it handles backup.

Jetset, did you read what I said a few pages back about trophies/profiles, etc.? I feel like I'm talking to a wall here, lol! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on what I had to say.

Anyway, just to reiterate. Let the cheaters be cheaters. There seems to be no way of stopping them. No matter what policies or "systems" that are put into place, hackers who want to hack will find a way. I think people who enjoy trophies just need to take solace in the fact that they have earned them legitimately.

Also, as I've mentioned in my previous post, start playing BEYOND the Platinum, if there's content/things to do that aren't trophy related that is. Play for SAVE FILE/GAME Completion, not PROFILE Completion. Take my Bayonetta example. Trophy hackers aren't getting Pure Platinum Ranks on every stage, because there's no trophy for it! But who's the better player? The guy who pulled every ounce of content/gameplay out of their game or the guy who just hacked their way to a Platinum that consists of 30, maybe 40% of what the game has to offer? Now, I understand that not EVERY game has as much gameplay and content as Bayonetta does, but look at completing each title on a game by game basis. I'll say it again, cherish and take pride in your SAVE FILE/ACTUAL PROGRESS completion, NOT JUST what your PROFILE shows.

Yeah, from when I last checked nobody has been able to get 100% on either PS3 or 360 yet. Even with the PS3 version with thousands of Japanese players on the leaderboards alone. Apparently it's not just Challenges that are the issue, but "ALL Score Attack" and a few others.

I do wonder what Arc System Works will do for GGXX PSN/XBLA and BB: Chrono Phantasma in terms of trophies/achievements now. After BBCS:Extend it looked like they toned it down, but then with Persona 4 Ultimate/Arena, it's all amped up. I'm not asking for easy trophies/achievements at all, but P4A looks to be taking it a little too far. Not sure if we can chalk this off to no methods being known yet. To be fair when BB:CS first released I don't think anyone had 100% until a few weeks later, mostly due to the online ones (which are do-able just with time).

I honestly want to know who had the bright idea to make Score Attack in P4A be what it is. Unlimited Mars was terrible enough in Extend, but they didn't tie trophies or in-game unlocks to it. I can see tying the navigator unlocks to it in P4A to push DLC, but why punish players with such an asinine requirement for the trophies?

Yeah, I'm aware that it's just the Score Attack one. Challenges one is also pretty bad though, since none of the BlazBlue titles ever required you to do ALL of them for a trophy or the plat. Just grinding out online plays like in CT and CS isn't quite the same. It DOES make me scared of Chrono Phantasma cause I had thought they'd become lenient on those for the people who did go for it...

Sorry, I didn't take a look yet, only just went back to this thread and checked the latest posts. I'll reply to the stuff on past pages soon.

Wait, what are you trying to say exactly?

Remember when we were without PSN for a month+ in April 2010

They found ways to get onto the dev parts of PSN and put unlimited funds into their account and went on shopping sprees, had how to do's and everything

They were doing for it weeks before Sony even caught wind, by the time they did, damage done, Sony pulled everything down, and built it up again

That website was one of the culprits
Same place where I found out about hacks and trophies, and how they became prevalent

What is this about hacks and cheats? Trophy system is rock solid right? I know you can cheat your way to trophies with cfw but why would you have trophies when you cant even sign in to psn?

Snip.

Like so. Works for a lot of games that don't have performance-checks for trophies or stuff that's tracked server-side.

And Steve, PLEASE remove that stuff about how to cheat and the link to the cheat forum. Believe it or not, lots of people are lurking this thread and cheaters will be bred.
Wow, I was aware that such people/sites existed, but to see these threads is just sad... and disgusting! What's the point of having all Platinums without playing the game? Of course, boosting or glitching a trophy is sad already (I did both), and even trophy hunting sometimes feel like a hamster spinning in its wheel, but this is just... bleh.

Anyway, picked up Need for Speed The Run on the cheap, not trying to get the Platinum but making nice progress (lots of Silver trophies) even though it's lacking that Criterion touch I love so much.

I believe you need cfw to do all that. They cant reach psn so its all good.

But damn those guys are sad, they're trading and selling trophies lol.

Devil May Cry 2
34 of 34 Trophies
June 21st 2012 (Completed in 2 hours, 25 minutes)

Devil May Cry 3
34 of 34 Trophies
June 20th 2012 (Completed in 4 hours, 17 minutes)

Devil May Cry
34 of 34 Trophies
June 20th 2012 (Completed in 1 hour, 7 minutes)

Yeah OK!

Each of those game requires 20+ hours, multiple playthroughs, how is that even possible

I had a friend who used to hack the trophies, but he was smart about it, he popped the trophies are certain times, spacing it all out so it could look legit.

He fucked up one day and asked to be removed from the leaderboards, he also purged everyone on his friends list for some reason including me.

Steve:

For MGS 3 you can save in another slot for the trophy that requires kills, Cloud Link it over and the trophies still unlock when it transfars all the Cloud Link-ed saves. As LiquidSolid said, only the Ocelot Paradox needs to be done on the other system itself, so have a save right there.

aside: what the f on the hacks. Its as if all the hardwork put in by legit guys are just flushed down the drain.

So those are the jerks making the BattleFantasia trophies less rare.... And lol, DMC2 in 2 hours. You can't even beat the normal mode in 2 hours, let alone get the Plat.

"Gap 41 years, 9 months, 2 weeks"

Looks legit.

Just got my platinum in ICO.
Still working on MLB12, which only needed 1 trophy before even starting ICO......grind grind grind, stupid baseball bat breaking, so damn random.

Finally done with the core collectibles (a LOT) and all the core achievements from Alan Wake.
I've never done so much collecting, but it was kind of fun and Rooster Teeth guides are pretty funny too.
Going for the DLC achievements now.

So motorstorm looks like a simple plat, but I have to collect things.

Anyone here have the dark souls plat and don't mind if they let me hold some armour and weapons I'm missing?

Loved Alan Wake! Hated the collection achievements!! Have you played American Nightmare? It's great too!

I wonder why people even do hack: you can only compare Trophies with your friends (so to get a better score than their friends) or at sites like YGC with a lot of strangers. It is one of the reasons why I just ignore stuff like that, I don't have to look at people with hacked Trophies.

I dont mind. I made them all up from scratch and they arent really any use to me now i suppose.
Usually on at about 11pm GMT

Yeah one of my favorite games this gen, it's really time consuming, but it was bearable with the Rooster Teeth guide. No, but I plan to after I'm done with Alan Wake.

Ugh I keep getting an error whenever I sync my trophies to restore them to my account, can i still play games like SFxT and get the same trophies again+new ones and when I sync (successfully), PSN will keep the new ones I got?

If you had a lot of trophies, that's actually fairly common. It will error out a bunch, but just keep going at it and it will eventually sync them all and be fine.

Has anyone reported these types of profiles to Sony and gotten any type of response officially on it?

Finally Platinum'd Jak II and Jak III. Yeah, I did the orb glitch in getting the final trophies for those two. Sorry.

Working on Devil May Cry. Good lord, I am reminded of how bad I am at it when I played it the first time on the PS2. Worthless, I am, worthless.

Loved Alan Wake! Hated the collection achievements!! Have you played American Nightmare? It's great too!

I loved Alan Wake too and I enjoyed American Nightmare's campaign but I hated the arcade mode. I'm very satisfied with 120/200 there because I have no intention of investing any time in arcade.

Just an extreme plant playthough of MGS2 to go and the plat is mine.

Not looking forward to the bosses on extreme at all.
knocked out hard start to finish today. Only the harrier gave me trouble but had him on the 4th go. kept making stupid mistakes.
Multiple gear fight is gonna be brutal though on extreme. Ill be running 90% of the time.

I didn't find arcade that bad actually. There a quite a few guides out now on surviving 10 mins and getting high scores mostly dealing with safe spots and funneling the enemies into one area. It was a bitch during that first week though. Arcade mode made my Nightmare difficulty easier on the original as I was used to evading larger groups in the XBLA version.

Remember to spam x (like getting a trophy lol) when you do it. I heard (and have now seen for myself) that it helps the system from erroring out everytime. I don't know why but I guess it helps the system stay active or something versus leaving it alone.

Looks legit.

They had a DeLorean and went into the past. They met Al Gore. Gave him the internet idea and are millionaires.

You're probably right, but it wasn't for me. It was too difficult for me and I just couldn't get into it. Funny because I invested tons of time getting 1500/1500 in Alan Wake but I gave up pretty quickly with American Nightmare after getting all its campaign achievements.

Also, August progress:

1025/1655 in Fallout New Vegas

I beat the Mr House quest line to finally get every single one of the original 1000 gamerscore points minus the 100gs for beating it on hardcore. And since I already have the GRA DLC done I'm up to 1025gs instead of just 900gs.

I researched the DLC and I'll be doing them in the following order:

Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road.

Hopefully I don't fuck up missables.

Except for the bounty grinding....or do you live in an area where everybody has a Vita with Near? :D

Still, story wise probably my second favorite Uncharted after 2.
You don't need to live near people with a Vita to collect bounties, just have a lot of ppl with the game on your friends list.

Interesting, I'm not sure I'd heard that before.
Maybe people just don't mention the story quality because they're too busy saying something like: they force some of the vita controls on you during certain times and they don't work all that great.

Does the game overcome that problem, if so, I might have to give it a go. Have platinums on the 3 PS3 games.

I really liked the story, but the gameplay is indeed not up to par with the PS3 versions because of the touch stuff. Then again, if you finish the (touch) puzzles one time you don't have to complete them anymore on subsequent playthroughs. It's just jarring how they decide to break up the flow of the game to introduce that stuff.

The shooting and platforming is still great though.

Golden Abyss is my favorite Uncharted, touch requirements be dammed. I'd LOVE more UC games on the Vita for the tilt aiming alone.

Knocked out most of the trophies in Sound Shapes, but got frustrated with one of the death levels so I'm taking a break.

I wasn't that impressed by Golden Abyss. The story takes ages to pick up and the motion/touch controls stuff is AWFUL. Probably my least liked game in the series.

Same here. People who say they prefer It to 3 are having a laugh. It doesn't get going till about chapter 13.

Chase was an interesting character to say the least. I like her more than Elena and Chloe.

Can you get 2 plats on Sound Shapes(ps3/psv)?
