No, the trophy system is not ruined. The PS3 trophy system is - with the exception of online server stat based trophies and performance based trophies that won't pop with manipulated saves, every PS3 format software (retail and PSN) are vulnerable. It's only a ticking clock until Little Billy gets his "platty save" for a game to fall. Vita is pure only because of how it handles backup.
Jetset, did you read what I said a few pages back about trophies/profiles, etc.? I feel like I'm talking to a wall here, lol! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on what I had to say.
Anyway, just to reiterate. Let the cheaters be cheaters. There seems to be no way of stopping them. No matter what policies or "systems" that are put into place, hackers who want to hack will find a way. I think people who enjoy trophies just need to take solace in the fact that they have earned them legitimately.
Also, as I've mentioned in my previous post, start playing BEYOND the Platinum, if there's content/things to do that aren't trophy related that is. Play for SAVE FILE/GAME Completion, not PROFILE Completion. Take my Bayonetta example. Trophy hackers aren't getting Pure Platinum Ranks on every stage, because there's no trophy for it! But who's the better player? The guy who pulled every ounce of content/gameplay out of their game or the guy who just hacked their way to a Platinum that consists of 30, maybe 40% of what the game has to offer? Now, I understand that not EVERY game has as much gameplay and content as Bayonetta does, but look at completing each title on a game by game basis. I'll say it again, cherish and take pride in your SAVE FILE/ACTUAL PROGRESS completion, NOT JUST what your PROFILE shows.
