Adam Boyes is Leaving Playstation - Returning to Game Dev

He always came across as genuinely excited for the news you brought us on stage. That made the announcements he made believable and exciting at the same time.
Good luck Adam, you will be missed!

Gio Corsi, Nick Suttner and Adam Boyes are all Developer Relations people. Two of them are gone, and Gio apparently switched positions. Wonder what's going on.

Likely explains why the E3 presentation had so few presenters.

Dude WTF :O

Seriously you had an amazing run and PS is foolish to let you go.
Don't really understand because at Sony he prop head more of a future then game dev witch is more unstable..
And if its an SF thing I understand that city is just insane to life with.
But if he stays in SF that seems crazy to me.

Anyway good luck I was lucky enough to have met you twice (not that your dead or anything) but at Playstation events.

I wonder what kind of a game he will be sharing with us?

Nick and Gio were never on an E3 stage, and Adam left after E3.

I don't see how this explains anything. -_-

Gio announced Shenmue at E3 last year. I forgot that Nick did his thing at PSX, but he did have a big hand in all the indie presentations in recent years, which were conspicuously absent on stage this year. Adam has recently been announcing third party stuff so I was a little surprised not to see him on stage with, like, Kojima or something.

It's all speculation obviously, but it might indicate some sort of internal shake-up in the Developer Relations/Third Party Productions divisions.

No, Gio did not. It was Adam.
Everything to do with Kojima had been handled by Andrew House directly. Not Shu , not Shawn , but Andrew.

Adam Boyes has been a great contribution to PlayStation. Since he unvieled Grim Fandango Remaster he's had a special place in my heart. It's a great loss for PlayStation. I do however think that all people need to change jobs. On average most people change their job every five years so I'm guessing his time has come to do something else. Great luck to that. Will love to see what it is he got planning.

Oh, you're right. I'm remembering the Yu Suzuki interview with him afterwards.

Just thought all these changes with these dudes might indicate some change in direction in dev relations. We'll see!

Pretty much this.

Adam will be missed. I always looked forward to seeing him onstage during Sony'a conferences, and Grim Fandango is such a special game for me. The remaster just came out of nowhere. It was almost as big a deal for me as bloodborne being announced earlier during the same conference. Will keep an eye on whatever he is working on. Hope when it's eventually ready to show to the public, they get him up on a Sony stage to do the presentation.

Not saying there definitively isn't, but I'd sooner assume this to be your average "looking for new opportunities" job change /upgrade/different challenge/etc.

Besides, it's not as if Adam is the big boss man of Dev Relations. Phil Rosenberg is still there.

Nooooo, Adam! Damn. It was always so great to see him announce things at E3. All the best to him making games, and thanks for all the awesome at Sony over the years.

Sad to see him go. I think a huge part of PS4's success can be attributed to Adam considering he was instrumental in getting huge third party partnerships. And he had the best announcements I've ever seen at E3 with (closer to my heart) Kingdom Hearts III/Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake/Shenmue III. I wish him the best with game development and he will be missed at PS. I hope PS have an amazing replacement.

Damn, one of the most likable console space personalities there is, that's a big blow to Sony.

Best of luck Adam, hoping to hear from you again soon.

That's a real bummer. He always seemed genuinely excited about the stuff that he talked about and that made the announcements a lot more fun to watch. Also, he seemed to be the bridge between Capcom and Sony, two companies that I have fond memories of.

Best of luck to you Adam. I hope you have a joyful future ahead of you.

Adam was the guy behind a lot of the PS4/PC announcements. It is sad to see him go.

I will always remember him for announcing the FFVII: Remake. Best of luck to him.

Big blow to Sony and Playstation. Good luck to you Adam in the future of game dev and remember Johnny V still needs a job or a travelling companion in his Winnebago.

Fuck, no more GiantBomb E3 funny. :(

Nah, he'll be there. Have to get old Midway gang back together and then everyone instantly regrets it. The worst part is if John Drake is filling that role. I mean...nightmares.

oh no

man, he made e3 way better

everyone on stage this year was a 'suit' by comparison.

Isn't that weird? It's funny that we know to expect suits telling us to buy things at E3, but somebody like him or the triple O.G. , Jack, Who came before him m, made it at least feel somewhat charismatic. Wonder who'll they have becoming the next pretty face on the stage.

Big loss for Sony. I love Adams personality. Good thing he is friends with the Giant Bomb crew so should not be the last I/we hear from him.
Best of luck Adam!

Ouch. That's gonna hurt PlayStation. Adam is incredible. What is going on around there at Sony? They seem to be losing people that helped push the PS4 to greatness.

Sad days

John Drake putting in work.

People leave in business. Happens more often than you think. Especially when someone leaves for a completely different sector. It doesn't neccesarily mean anything is wrong or anyone is fucking up.

I cannot even begin to imagine how hard that decision must have been. All the best Mr. Boyes. Looking forward to your games. Please share them with us #badumtss

I wonder if this impacted the set up of the E3 presentation. He seemed like a natural fit to host something like that.

Still, Sean is getting better at it.

Have to wonder if any of these departures are related to the SIE reorganisation. Some people might have been offered a new role and decided to jump ship instead.

SONY plans on killing all the developers.

Nothing is going on. LOL

Well now I'm genuinely anxious about Sony's third party relations strategy changes and what not. Shahid, Nick Suttner and now Boyes all within a year, they won't find replacements as good as those guys.

That's a shame, he was a charismatic personality in Sony's PR portfolio, hope they find an adeguate replacement.

Still, best of luck!
