This may sound off topic, but why is it usually GOG that gets these classics first, versus Steam? Is it easier clearance or something like that?

Oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

I loved mega drive Aladdin. how was the PC port?

GOG go out of their way to help make it happen. Steam don't do any lifting generally

Okay, so, this is a personal and somewhat complex web of nonsense involving a highly unstable individual I was friends and briefly FWBs with, but I can only assume there will be a never-ending clusterfuck on gaf now until the end of time, which inevitably involves you guys and gals on the mod team in some way, so I'm an open book here. The woman in question ended up being completely psychotic and held a grudge against me after a bizarre love triangle situation developed a few years ago between me, her, and another girl (the other girl I ended up in a long-term relationship with shortly thereafter). This NOLA story she apparently just put up on social media is a delusion of a deeply disturbed person who had a total psychological breakdown as a result of me and the other girl getting together, because she (phew, yeah...) became obsessively infatuated with the other girl (she's bi) on sight when the three of us met up. I wanted to just stay friends with the girl making the accusation and made it super super clear ahead of time that me and the other girl were interested in each other romantically and that could play out as such when we met up. Supposedly this was not a problem for her from accusation, but in reality she uhhh wanted me to die painfully after seeing me and the other girl interact. Plus she became infatuated with the other girl simultaneously to this (she's bi), which created the aforementioned bizarre love triangle that ended up causing her to implode and have an apparently very intense and long-lasting grudge. The whole story about how that love triangle thing played out is, frankly, nuts and scary, and involves this girl bringing us to a compound of dangerous scientology spinoff cultists on that same trip, who roofied us, attempted to recruit/scam me and attempted to abduct/rape the girl I ended up dating, in what was a fucking scary situation that resulted in me and the other girl and the rest of my friend circle never speaking to this girl from the accusation again.

Yeah, CDP reaches out and, if necessary, offers to do the heavy lifting in exchange for temporary exclusivity. Valve's much more passive vis-a-vis old games.

fuck those games tortured me as a kid, especially lion king.

Day one

THIS TIME I WIN,

That reminds me I went back and completed the OG toy story as a teenager

as it kicked my ass as a kid, I had the last laugh though.

Shame it's the genesis version of Aladdin. I don't remember much about the two from when I was a kid, but I DO remember having a much better time with the SNES game.

DOS Aladdin was just like the Genny version but had better music to some. I dunno. Sounds a bit weird.

Edit: SNES Aladdin is fine, but it's easier, the level design is less intricate, and the gameplay is very slow.

That music on the first stage of The Lion King was so beautiful. I remember booting up the game just to listen to it.

And for some reason, they're not available on Virtual console.

Can someone suggest me a PC controller to play those?

aladdin snes can't even hold a sword

Sword combat in the genesis version is a fucking death sentence because enemies attack quick and do a lot of damage if youre right up in their face. Using apples is the best way to kill things on both SNES and Genesis.

Also the platforming detection on some parts of the genesis version is flat out broken compared to SNES.

For one the MD version has better aesthetics, the animation work is amazing

Yeah, they had disney animators helping I think. Shame the PC version doesn't look as nice. Is it missing animation frames?

I always wondered how two totally different dev teams came to the decision to make apples such a big part of the game. It was only one scene of the movie lol

I'll never forget Aladdin's Genesis cheat: ABBAABBA would skip a level. This is a welcome addition, I'll probably pick it up.

Also Jungle Book is not a good game im sorry, doesnt matter what system you play it on. Its floaty as fuck with questionable level design.

Real talk though, when's Hercules?

The "Play Sega" USB Saturn controllers that Sega made a while back are pretty good. They were going for super cheap recently too.

It's weird to see so many people surprised about which versions of the games are being used here, but then I guess GAF tends to be pretty console-oriented overall. I knew of these games on PC long before I learned they were on consoles too.

My sister and I played an absolute ton of Aladdin and The Lion King on our 486 PC back in the 90s. Great games.
