All New Skyward Sword Info from GI + Nintendo

Soooooo that means the giant cloud dome is over Gerudo Desert/Valley....doesnt exactly make me feel good about the chances Ganondorf wont be appearing in this game in some form.

I know that this game is supposed to set up the events in OOT, but do we really need the same dungeons?? I know that they will have different designs, but I want different themes....

I doubt Ganondorf would be in this, given the prequel nature. It'd be far more likely that we'd see the Gerudo, and maybe learn about how their whole "one man in 100 years" deal started.

That's probably the mass of clouds we see on the map. If it's really Gerudo Valley, I wonder why it's closed off like that.

I still think it's going to be a type of tower... Like where Ghirahim resides or something.

Thats what Im hoping and seems most reasonable and rational, but never underestimate Nintendo's ability to fuck things up and randomly throw Ganondorf in their for some unnecessary reason.

You never know, maybe you can unlock it later in the game or something

Just give up. You won't convince them, even though Nintendo never trolls. Until someone who beat the game says otherwise, they'll be sure that this game will end with a battle against Ganon.

Aonuma clearly stated that Ganondorf won't appear in the game, but the game itself touches on the reasons why he's who he is or something like that.

That would be cool.

But I could totally see Ghirahim getting shafted near the end of the game and Ganon being the real final boss.

or Majora resided in Gerudo Valley hundreds of years before the events of Majora's Mask HYPE

Yes, I could see GANON or some variant being in the game... perhaps as a demonic force. The type of black magic that Ganondorf eventually gains.

If the red and green dots with white outlines mark the location of Eldin Volcano and Faron Woods, it does correlate with OoT's map

Align Skyloft with the Hyrule field they match up pretty well. so we should see Lake Hylia to the south west and Gerudo Desert to the west in SS.[/QUOTE]
but what if the green (light blue?) circle is Sky temple and the dark green circle is Faron Woods?

I like how the swirling vortex of evil is hovering above Gerudo Desert :D

Because of that crazy sandstorm. Remember Wind Waker's motivation for Ganon to become evil: Gerudo Desert is plagued by harsh violent winds while Hyrule has calm nourishing winds. This is probably what Aonuma meant by "you'll see why Ganon becomes the way he is"

It matches up quite well. I wonder where the water temple will end up being. They could either got to the right of the red marker for Zora's Domain or go south for lake hylia.

Are you talking about the dark green dot north of the red one? I'm pretty sure that's a floating island, as it's dark outline is like the one surrounding Skyloft.
Though, I have no idea what the deal is with the Sky temple and the forest.

I can't imagine this game without Lake Hylia. It's been in pretty much every Zelda game that takes place in Hyrule since A Link to the Past.

Remember the rumors about Link being in school? That was funny.

It turns out Link, Phi, Zelda and Ganondorf all were orphans who went to same school as children and Ghirahim touched their bums, but thanks to the Tri-Force those memories were forgotten, but Ghirahim ran off and took Ganondorf before he could get his piece of the Triforce and went to the Gerudo Valley where there was sand and he didnt like sand because its coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere, not like Hyrule or Zelda. So now hes the only one who remembers what happened and they all forgot, and thats why he became such a colossal prick and is always trying to ruin the world and be a complete tosser who keeps kidnapping Zelda.

On closer examination you are correct. It's a sky island with a lake or forest or something on it.

Lake Hylia will probably be Lanayru Lake in this game.

Now I'm fairly certain, with the symbol on the door and the unreachable clawshot target near a door higher above, that this "return to dungeons later" thing is true. You'll eventually return to the Fire Temple and Volvagia is going to be a the boss that time.

:D

:D

I like the idea of the player not getting to fight the dungeon boss the first time they go through it.

I'm confused, are the areas like Eldin Mountain, etc. part of the underworld or the sky? Because it seems like there's a bunch of contained areas in the sky which includes areas like Eldin Mountain and the distance Link drops doesn't seem to be much. And why does Link have to go inside through those rock things instead of seeing the mountain down there anyway?

According to Game Informer, there definitely was a boss in the fire temple. It was that giant walking fireball thing.

Do people have this issue yet? Suscribers? In-store?

I subscribed a week or two ago for this issue, still haven't gotten it in the mail.

The sky is essentially the overworld, and has various floating islands you can seamlessly travel to by dropping in, landing, or whatever (as seen in the latest video). There's also the underworld, which you can only access through unlocked entry points/landing zones, which trigger than short cutscene of Link falling through the clouds.

We don't know if the underworld locations are linked in any way (I assume they're not), but consider each a separate 'loading zone' to the main overworld, unlike the mini floating islands which are part of the overworld.

You do. It's that fire spider thing. But I think you'll come back to this dungeon later with more items and this time the boss will be Volvagia.

Screenshot gallery is up with 30-some new shots -- some from the magazine, some brand-new. Enjoy it!

Very nice indeed.

I've been wondering is there any particular reason why you guys are putting up the video preview before all the exclusive videos are up? I know you said the preview would be showing the clips already released but since it comes before video 5 does that mean it won't be shown in the preview?

It looks great, reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy even more now :o

But not a single fuck was given by Nintendo's texturing department that day

Honestly, it was just a scheduling thing. We didn't want to push the video preview until the very end of the month. The preview will probably show some snippets from video 5 but not the whole thing.

A lot of it reminded me of Super Mario Galaxy, but these two stood out

The giant skeleton above looks like it could belong to a volvagia type creature. Perhaps there were MANY Volvagias inside of death mountain.

I'm not sure why but I find the fact that a tree is growing in the middle of where lava flows amusing.

They all attack you at once.
(I could swear they normally take turns in the other 3D Zeldas)
I was shocked that there were that many enemies surrounding you all at once as well. Although spin attack seemed like the obvious way to go about it. Finally the spin attack will be useful again. Also kind of figured that you would get mole mits in the same area as the mogma were in since they are mole people.

This game will be SO amazing. *o*

Anyway...... I'm sure that THIS...

...Becomes THIS:
Didn't the latest footage on GI show Link killing it? The Mogma warn Link about these creatures apparently when/before you enter the dungeon.

I've had this feeling since the first real info, especially with the success of the Galaxy-ideas. It'll be interesting to see how Nintendo incorporates those ideas into a Zelda formula, the pacing and exploration could benefit a lot from this as well as new ideas.

This might have changed (and moreover, even if it hasn't, it may not be indicative of anything), but the E3 shots of Skyward Sword from last year had this

It looks like you can see Death Mountain from the forest.
