It still could happen. The bigger test is 2014 sales.
No it couldn't. These systems are going to get flooded with games throughout 2014 to keep the sales up. It's not going to be anything like Wii U.

I'm already laughing at the people who said that PS4 and Xbone will sell as poorly as the Wii U. Realistically, it was never going to happen.
Holy shit point me to this thread, I need a good laugh.

nah wii u had the massive preorder craze thing going as well. it shut down immediately in January, before the "no games" set in.

I think its just wishful thinking on the part of some Nintendo fans.

Yeah because people like paying more money for a weaker console.I wonder how many transfers from PS4 to XBone they got after MS pulled the DRM plug?
Yeah because people like paying more money for a weaker console.
Yup, cos that's the only reason why they'd do such a thing.

You're talking about Titanfall, aren't you?

PS4 has won so far.

I wonder how many got cancelled when people found out Apple set a controller standard for iOS....
Edit : so many of us not getting our next gen fix this year
Eh, launches aren't something consoles usually have a problem with, sales-wise. It's everything post-launch that can kill systems, publishers, and developers.Damn, breaking records everytime, and some people said that the gaming industry is doomed.

Wii U will be steamrolled at the end of the year.
Most people base their purchases on the games for a gaming console. Every console gen is historically dominated by the weaker specced console, anyway, so that shouldn't surprise anyone paying attention.
Oh shut up.
Why should he shut up? It's a valid concern. We like to act like it's not true but price is the biggest factor in determining how well a console sells especially in America. $399 automatically looks better to a consumer than $499.
Why would that make someone switch? PS4 had no DRM either.
Is this a thing on Amazon - people who preorder just to preorder without any intention of completing the purchase?Since Amazon does not charge until shipped, these preorder numbers don't mean a whole lot.
Yes. No reason not to. I've got both preordered so I can decided later which one I want at launchIs this a thing on Amazon - people who preorder just to preorder without any intention of completing the purchase?
This is what's important. Not which console sold more. It's practically in everyone's best interest that they both sell as much as possible, especially now. There's always money in the console stand.
But that's not really the same thing. You do intend to make a purchase.Yes. No reason not to. I've got both preordered so I can decided later which one I want at launch

Anecdotal, but three people at work have switched back from the PS4 to One after the news about no DRM broke. They seemed very happy that it will be business as usual. Very happy.
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens on a larger scale as the news slowly disseminates into the mainstream.
When was the last time the weaker console was also significantly more expensive?
Won what.
Oh shut up.
If they are undecided, its like three clicks away from throwing their name down on a unit. At any moment before launch, they can cancel. This is why you see a lot of Special Editions come back in stock.
Won what.
