The lack of dual-core and 1Gb of memory, along with no microSD card and non removable battery make for a pretty "Meh" phone. New stuff is coming out really soon so the S is just another phone IMO.f0rk said:People seem to be a bit disappointed/underwhelmed by the Nexus S. Is this from people who were looking to upgrade? Not sure whether to go with a Nexus S at launch or get a San Francisco and wait for the next big thing, whatever that is.
Basically, is it good as a "jump on" point?

You must be from the future if you know that the LTE data plans for phones will be metered!Jamesfrom818 said:Eat shit Verizon and your metered LTE data plans.

Rrrgh dealing with my Droid Eris is becoming a huge struggle. Even rooted, overclocked with a custom ROM it bogs down regularly. Trying to tell myself that it'll be worth it because the phones in a year when my contract is up will be that much better.Ephemeris said:You should be good to go. Personally I had to use a new sim card since mine was "too old".
But even if that problem applies to you (had my sim for 3+ years), you can get the sim for free to take advantage of HSPA+.
Made the jump from the Droid Eris so it was a bigger leap for me. :lol (Miss my Sense widgets though..)
I feel your pain. I think just wiping and flashing a new ROM regularly, like every couple weeks really helps. It seems to slow down over time.TheEastonator said:Rrrgh dealing with my Droid Eris is becoming a huge struggle. Even rooted, overclocked with a custom ROM it bogs down regularly. Or maybe I'll just switch to Sprint then.

I'm guessing that it will be marginally lighter than the iPad in final production. It'll be interesting to see what the iPad 2 weighs in at though.Charred Greyface said:he was holding it comfortably with one hand though... Maybe it's very light?

Jesus it's like a never ending circle of excitement and greener grass with this damn Android.

Jamesfrom818 said:I'm beginning to wonder if I should get an Android tabet and just get a Chrome OS laptop instead. Between the 100 mb of data free from Verizon and being able to tether with an Android phone (N1 or G2), I don't think I'd need much else network wise.
Plan on keeping it? Selling it?Jamesfrom818 said:I forgot how slim the N1 is. I've had mine in an otterbox for the past few months. Such a nice phone.
Keeping it. My Google account is engraved on the back. I think I might use it as my mini ereader. Google Books works offline and the AMOLED on my N1 is great in direct sunlight.Ephemeris said:Plan on keeping it? Selling it?

Ephemeris said:That too crossed my mind when I read up about it yesterday. I currently have a 12 inch windows tablet which made me fall in love with the whole tablet formfactor but its current downsides (weight, battery life, stylus) makes me crave something sleeker. I played with Chrome OS a while back and it definitely has potential (plus the 100mb monthly is a NICE perk), but I - *personally* - would prefer a new tablet over a new netbook. (Google called it a notebook numerous times but come on! It's a netbook!:lol )
I'm sure I can speak for Google when I say: You can't go wrong either way. :lol

Im 6'0" and the X fits perfectly in my hand. My only other gripe was battery life and that seems to be fixed with a program called juicedefender. Im only rooted btw.btothekw said:hey gaf,
about to switch over to verizon with the family, stuck between the droid x and the htc incredible, leaning more towards the x, but hear bad things about it being huge and brick like. i would love to have the big screen, just dont want to over time start to hate its hugeness.
any thoughts?
I've had the Droid X since it came out back in July the phone is pretty thin other than the little hump at the top for the camera but even that isn't bothersome, I love the phone and because of the aspect ratio the phone is more narrow than wide compared to the EVO.btothekw said:hey gaf,

You should go to a Verizon store and check both the Incredible and the X out but to me the Incredible felt a tad small and the X was the perfect size for me.
Its not that big. Some people really hate screens over 3.5/3.7. People with Xs love them. If you like it at the Verizon store then you'll be fine. The big screen and camera are so damn awesome and next gen feeling.btothekw said:hey gaf,

Why? The browsers are extremely similar and aside from iPad's Apple bookstore, which is nothing special, they both have Kindle and the other usual apps.Bit-Bit said:I'm still playing the waiting game on see android tablets.
