Anyone else using K-9 Mail having issues?

I'm on the Nexus One and the past two days have been plagued with Force Closes. It seemed to happen almost everytime it tried to poll for new messages.

that should be it honestly.

kinda late on finally getting around to this but my x doesnt seem to want to see png files. i can copy them over but they dont show up in the folders on the phone. i noticed the same for some video files as well. any way to fix this?

Okay, seriously Google. Seriously. Fucking animated GIFs, how do they work? :lol :lol

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3422

It's ridiculous that my Droid X with Froyo still doesn't have animated GIFs enabled by default in the stock browser. My fucking shitty 4-years old Windows Mobile phone can show animated GIFs using the shitty Internet Explorer Mobile browser which otherwise can barely render an actual web page without doing a choke and die. It's not as if the animated GIF image format has been around since 1996 since the release of Netscape Navigator 2.0 or anything. WHAT THE FUCK, GOOGLE?

They work fine on mine and i'm using Froyo plus Nexus One....Not that link on the first post of the issue, but all other gifs seem fine.

I had the same problem with the Photos app but they show up fine in the 2.1 Gallery app. But then after a restart they showed up in the Photos app.

I know CyanogenMod has them enabled by default.

It needs to be enabled by default in the browser, or geniuses like Motorola will forget to enable it. It's properly enabled in the Froyo build for Droid 1. This is 50% Google's fault for not enabling them by default, or even allowing them to be enabled by users without modifying source code and re-compiling the whole browser. It's 50% Motorola's fault for not figuring out that that Google doesn't have them enabled by default and they need to set the flag before compiling their Froyo build. Which you think they would know about since they did it right with Droid 1. :lol

It should not be this complicated to get animated GIFs! It's not as if iPhone has had animated GIFs in their WebKit-based browser since day 1 of the original iPhone's launch or anything.

While I'm busy bitching, I should also put in a shout out for the complete lack of effort made on the stock Android music player. This shit should be fundamental, Google. You should have a team of programmers who do nothing but think of new ways to improve the stock music player and who release new versions regularly. The state of music players on Android reminds me of my Windows Mobile days when there were 10 players and all of them were shitty. Apple only needs 1 music player because they are always working hard on improving it. And I don't mean make it run faster either, because iTunes for the desktop is a bloated piece of shit, but the iTunes player on iPods and iPhones is the standard by which all portable music players are judged, and Android falls miles and miles short of that mark.

hey man, sorry for the late quote, but if you're still looking for the icons they're called Tenuis Neue-Petit.

the og link is dead now; i had to go through some pretty dastardly digging to just find a working link. i'll see if i can get it for you though.

edit>here you go!
for the core set:

I was curious because lots of people report it working fine. So I looked more closely, and here's what I saw. For reference, I used this page:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22783030

It takes a million years to load, even on a desktop computer with a fast broadband connection (for obvious reasons). What I found was, when I'm looking at a static page after first load, GIFs are animating. If I scroll SLOWLY, GIFs will pause and then when I stop scrolling, animation resumes after a few seconds. If I suddenly whip the page at a high speed with a finger swipe, animations pause and do not ever resume. I can "force resume" animation by turning the phone and changing the orientation or by zooming in or out, this seems to reset whatever is making it stick. This behavior is fucking bizarre.

Anyone know a simple way of redirecting someone on an Android phone to a mobile version of a website?

If it's you're website? UA sniffing/checking. But always give the option of using the full site if they want, UA sniffing is far from fool-proof.

Thanks. Giving it a try now.

Hmm, is there a way to easily highlight multiple images in Gallery (using Froyo) other than "Select All"?

Download ASTRO (File manager) and flip to your DCIM/Camera directory etc.

i think this is what the gallery should be doing, at least this is how it works on mine:

long press a photo thumbnail, and then it'll change to checkboxes in the corner of all the pictures, then just tap to check/uncheck a photo

Perfect, thanks!

womp, thanks for the suggestion. I was looking for how to do it in app :)

Yeah, I was just throwing in another option. I find I tend to use ASTRO for a lot of my photo managing these days - Just seems more functional to me at times. :)

BTW, speaking of photos...I just bought Picsay Pro and OMG is it amazing. I highly recommend anyone who plans to use their phone for pictures, picture taking etc to pic it up for simple edits, red eye correction and decoration. Awesome app and extremely polished.

If you don't want to pay, you can use Photoshop Express. It's free. I don't think it has red-eye correction though.

I wish Adobe would seriously try and port a version of the full Photoshop Elements to iPhone/Android. That would be totally fucking badass.

I just downloaded and installed the google listen app so I can just download my podcasts on my droid 2...but when you download a PC, where does it save the file? I can't find it anywhere on my SD card

Specifically, how do you have media player stuff on your lock screen?
That's WidgetLocker for sure. Let's you put widgets on your lock screen as well as customise the lock style.

Just make sure you follow its instructions. You make WidgetLocker your default Launcher and then select your actual Launcher when WidgetLocker asks.

hi guys, i know this not be the place for my question but i need some help with my Galaxy S browser.

every time i visit my forum the browser just shutdown and bring me back to the home page of the phone, am running on Android 2,1 and i need you all to try this page and is't working for you or not: http://www.true-gaming.net/boards/sh...ost#post679696

if not how can i fix it (already tried all the browsers).

For those Galaxy S owners having problems with the browsers go to your browser settings and disable plugins. That fixed it for me.

Also +1 on Guns and Glory. Awesome tower defence style game

Red-Eye correction is one of the reasons I grabbed PicSay, I take a lot of pictures of my son and it really helps. Personally I found Photoshop very underwhelming in comparison in terms of features but obviously you get what you pay for. That said while I thought the stickers and effects included in PicSay would be a bit hokey, I have to admit that they are fun as hell when I want to make photos just a little bit more personal for my family members.

Great stuff.

On LauncherPro plus is it possible to resize/crop widgets from any other corner than the bottom-right?
no....but just put the widget to the far left and crop it to the right size you want.

potentially dumb question but on my droidX when i change my background, my lockscreen background is just black and I can't find an option to change it... anyone?

Whats the name of that settings widget and clock widget? Man, those're nice; sweet setup!

Tajm and I assume it's Extended Controls, both themed.

Nd7Xw.png

So far, this is what my lock screen/home screen look like. I'm not done customizing it yet. There just something off about it though. Maybe it's the white status bar that's throwing me off :(

Also, the font is called, "Comfortaa"
I got it over at XDA in this thread somwhere. Search for Comfortaa_font-signed or Comfortaa

For those with Samsung Galaxy Spica (i5700), a hacker already managed to make a multitouch driver (it will be released soon, need some polish). With that and the incoming propper 3D driver and Froyo port, this phone is going to be really overkill with a ridiculously low price.

Looks like Samsung wanted an entry level phone, but had to build it with stronger hardware (sometimes this is cheaper for manufacturers) and then software-cap it with shitty drivers so it wouldn't eclypse the Galaxy S. Now the hackers are getting its real power to the surface :D

Heck, just the basic Samdroid firmware + ARM optimization package make it perform like 50% better, and not just benchmarks: real life usage and battery life are much better.

The settings widget is switchpro, themed under ultralinx's minimal matte grey theme. The clock is "digital clock" the background is in the options for the clock.
