I think the dev cites the iPhone music player as his influence. The only thing stopping me from taking the plunge is audiobook management, does anyone know if its on a par with the iPhone music player? I rely on it with all my audiobooks



Also thought I would mention SlideIT, which is a replacement keyboard similar to Swype and is available on the market as a free trial and a paid app. I actually prefer SlideIT to Swype (and the fact that I don't have to jump through stupid beta signup hoops to get the .apk file...) Works on all Android versions, give it a shot.

Don't forget to go into your Settings > Language & Keyboard menu and turn the keyboard on, then when you see a text box long-press and select Input Method then choose SlideIT.

Meh, Swype is so much nicer looking and it looks like the function identically. I see no reason to switch at this point.

BTW, I officially feel sorry for every iPhone user having to touch type everything.

i can never go back. Swype just needs to add a voice input button on the keyboard and i'm set

I prefer ShapeWriter for a variety of reasons, but yes, this form of text input is truly superior. Although I use the Voice-to-Text for searches mostly these days. It's honestly spot on 90% of the time.

EDIT: You can tap and hold on any text field and choose input method to switch between the stock keyboard (with the voice button) and your replacement on the fly.

The SNESoid emulator can now run Super Mario RPG. Hell, and might I add, yes.

I would if I could. But I can't. I can make paid apps show up and buy them, but not when they're copy protected. I hate how the fragmented the market is.

i always get email notification ages before i get the facebook ones as the fastest you can set the facebook notifications to update is every 30 minutes

When I tried bTunes it was annoying because it had issues reading id3 tags.

I don't mind using the built in music player, it only annoys me when I have an album by multiple arists and it lists the album individually for each artist. Other than that I guess I'm just not that picky.

And for people using iTunes and Android, iSyncr is the fastest and easiest way to sync music and playlists.

I'm waiting for the guys at Beejive to get on the ball already. It's the only app I really miss from my iPhone.

Also, not sure why Google doesn't just make the Gtalk client work with more than just AIM? On mobile it's broken as I can't even access my AIM contacts through it. I would be happy with just Gtalk supporting multiple protocols. It's not like Google Contacts doesn't have fields for these services already (AIM/Yahoo/MSN).

App Brain is cool but not as cool as I thought. It's a great web browser for the market, and it'll sync your apps to show recommendations, but it's not a real install from the web and then sync solution, it just "bookmarks" the apps you've chosen to install and shows them in the App Brain app, where you click them and install them from the market as usual. I thought it had some background install syncing going on or that it would be automated, but it's more like bookmarks.

It's still cool, I'll be using it and it's definitely where the Android Market should be headed for an OS so built on syncing, but not the miracle I thought it was at first.

^no disagreement there. It's a nice backup list at the very list if your phone crashes or you get a new one, and it's certainly a step in the right direction.

Ok up until now Raging Thunder was hailed as the best racer but Gameloft released Asphalt 5 on Android and the graphics are absolutely gorgeous by any handheld standard and its a deeper experience with Need for Speed and Burnout Revenge influences...I'm on my Droid now so I can't post a tag but its worth checking out, even if you're not too into games and just want to play around with the gameplay and graphics and refund. Its about six bucks.

You can refund any app you buy within 24 hours by going to my downloads, clicking it and choosing uninstall & refund. Your card isn't charged, so the charge simply never happened (they wait until after the refund period to charge). You can only do this one time per app. Its pretty awesome, you're basically never screwed over thanks to the awesomeness and fairness of Android Market and its refunds.

yeah, I've ben using Zedge for a while now. Cool app, I like the favorites gallery and that it let's you download wallpapers. I don't like how many have artifacts, though.

I'll try to type "cool" for example, c->o->l, and it shows up col, if I'm not mistaken, cool is about 100 times more likely than col for someone wanting to type using a sliding method, why can't it figure out I want to type "cool"? Having to stop and press the swype key every time for situations like this is very annoying and time-consuming. SlideIT has this down perfectly. I'm hoping it's some setting I'm just missing because it seems so trivial.

I really like Tweetcaster, great UI and features. The only negatives for me are the ads on the free version get annoying on an HVGA screen, splash screen shows every time you open the app, and the price of pro is $5 (I'm not spending $5 on a Twitter app, sorry).

Right now I'm using Twidget Lite, basically a Twitter Widget that's pretty lightweight and has all the features that I use, like snapping a photo in the app or posting a pic from you gallery. I would try it out, see if you like it, it's free.

Not much known except that it's happening, Google is rolling out a Youtube.com update today to change a lot about the look and user experience to the site. Changes to the Android app to follow within the next few weeks, iPhone whenever.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I've been using the new engadget app and it's pretty cool, better than the web app. I like how classic and mobile are separate and the top stories are swipeable. The podcast integration is pretty cool, though I haven't tried it yet. Can't imagine it's worse than Listen. Need to check out the vid integration also.

Edit: just checked out the podcast integration, suffers from the mp3 closing when you exit player syndrome. Also, only Engadget podcasts are available, not mobile or HD. Looks like I'm sticking with Listen for my Engadget family podcasts.

I had been alternating between Touiteur and Twicca, both very good options. Currently, I prefer Twicca. TweetsRide is a lighterweight client, so it's a notch faster than Twicca.
