I was regularly frustrated with my Eris until I rooted it and overclocked it. Now, using LauncherPro, it's the phone I wanted it to be to begin with. Not everything is totally smooth (pinch to zoom for instance), but it doesn't lag and get unresponsive like it used to. It has literally doubled my enjoyment of my phone <3
Is there any risk to doing this? I overclocked a videocard once and it was never the same :( , so I'm a little leery of doing this.

So Shazam can identify tracks by listening to them. Is there anyway to get those tracks scrobbled to last.fm? I haven't actually used Shazam yet, btw.

No, Shazam is really just for use out and about when you hear a song and you want to know who it is.

Bummer. I'd really like an app that can scrobble what I'm listening to on FM or XM radio in my car to last.fm. :(

thats quite a cool idea. it would probably kill the battery if it was running and analysing sounds all the time though.

SoundHound is better than Shazam btw. You can whistle or hum to SoundHound and get amazing results.. Shazam fails in that regard.

No, it's 1.6. Still pretty great.

My mistake. I still don't understand why they released a new android phone on 1.6. Should've been at least 2 and if the rumours are to be believed that might not be until as late as Christmas.

what's the better settings profile app? Settings profiles or settings profiler?
It looks like settings profiler can't automatically change profiles based on a schedule or other triggers? If that's the case, then definitely Setting Profiles.

It's nice looking and I like the ratings. I also like how it has a button for video, since Android doesn't really have anything for videos.

It's nothing unique or special, though. I switched over from Stock, but it's not blowing my mind. It definitely needs a widget and landscape support.

Is there any reason to switch from timeriffic to setting profiles lite?

Edit: just checked it out looks like it has more options, almost all of which I wouldn't need. Dunno maybe ill still make the switch at some point

Is there any way to change folder icons? I started using widgets more and am trying to free up space by throwing some apps into folders but Im not crazy about the plain white folder look

Guys what are the good apps to get or must have?

I need one in particular to clear all non essential running apps in background anyone to recommend?

Thanks for this.

Also, I'm trying to use a Wiimote to control some of the games on the Samsung Moment I'm using. However, it doesn't sync, and after a bit of searching, it seems like this phone, as well as many of the HTC android phones won't configure the Wiimote as a bluetooth device correctly.

Has this been changed, or am I screwed out of using a Wiimote with the Moment?

I like it because it can switch profiles based on other triggers, not just a schedule. For example, enable wifi when I am close to home, switch to my "car" profile when I plug in a headset, switch to silent when I have a meeting, etc.

Is there an app or way that can synch my email faster? The lowest setting I have is 15minutes and that is pretty long when it comes to work email.

Yep the X10/Mini's are nice phones, but a a owner, it's frustrating being behind the curve for the Android updates. Although owners have made it pretty clear to SE on their blog they want 2.2. :lol :lol http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...™-x10-to-get-uxp-upgrade-in-q4-2010/#comments - there's talk that a root is in the works soon, but if I was Sony I'd get this shit sorted pretty quickly otherwise no-one will trust them with an Android smartphone in the future. The 2.2 JIT enchancements will really make this phone fly.

Has anyone used KeyPro (or something similar) to connect a bluetooth keyboard to their phone? Interested in doing this so I can write anywhere.

Are there any good third party apps for watching revision 3s stuff....tekzilla especially. It doesn't look like there's anything official out there.

Anyone try Doubletwist's app? I like it so far, kind of basic as far as features go, but still better than the stock media player.
Yup, I'm using it. Works well, didn't crash once yet (which the stock music player did, a lot) and it looks nice.

One problem I have with my Desire: Sometimes, for no apparent reason, the phone can't access the SD card. Can't listen to music or view PDFs etc. I need to reboot the phone, then it works fine again. I'm using the SD card that came with the phone, any idea what this could be about?

edit: The only thing missing from Doubletwist right now is a widget.

My brother bought a Desire, and gave me the included 4GB sdhc because he already has a 8GB... I used this 4GB in my Hero, but I had lots of problems with it. For example, sometimes pictures were not being displayed properly, I tried to reformat it several times but it was still unreliable.
Usually, I needed to unmount and remount the card. I ended up reusing my own 2GB... I thought it was weird because the 4GB was brand new and never used (afaik)

Hey guys I just picked up my EVO but I can't get Appbrain to sync my new apps. I've downloaded the Appbrain sync and logged in but none of my apps show up. I'd rather not manually search for each of the 74 apps I have qued up.

Edit: Just figured it out. I had to add my created list to the My Phone list.

Okay this is really cool information.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/04/nexus-one-gets-usb-host-driver-from-a-dude-with-an-oscilloscope/

Dude wrote a driver to make the Nexus One a USB Host. Keyboards, Display output, etc. (the link also makes mention of rooted Droid getting that capability a few months ago but I can find any direct links).

Is this thing even out? Does anyone with a Nexus One want to see if this works or does anything in its current state? This would be awesome for bringing media over to someone's place if true.

Ive been using Smooth Calendar for my calendar widget. I like its small and simple layout without taking up too much space but Im wondering if there is anything better. What do you guys use for calendar widgets?

The stock widgets by HTC and Google take up too much space or are just ugly.

pxleyes said:
Because Android's OS handles that internally. It is a useless thing, taskkillers.
I agree with this. One of the first things I did when I got my DI was install an app killer. I started to read comments here about how useless they are so I uninstalled. My battery life wasnt affected at all and the phone is still as snappy as ever. If anything, I think my keyboard loads up quicker without the task killer.

I moved from Smooth Calendar to Pure Calendar Widget. The latter costs some money ($2 or so) but is highly configurable, unlike Smooth Calendar, including just about any widget size you could want. In particular, I like Pure Calendar because it integrates tasks and calendar. 2x3 widget size works very well to give you good visibility of current and upcoming tasks/events while still leaving space for other things on screen.

Unfortunately, not working with froyo right now, in case you've done an early upgrade to 2.2

Good choice. That was one of the first widgets I ever bought...although now I can't use it since it's not 2.2 compatible. I need to wait until the Market recognizes Froyo since the Widget is copy protected. I miss my calendar. :-/

If you're referring to the iTunes data, I'm pretty sure iSyncr has done that for months. Ratings and playcounts, too.

I'm actually having trouble syncing video podcasts with Doubletwist. Damn thing kept me up late last night troubleshooting.

A few questions about iSyncr:

Does iSyncr also come with a mobile player for my phone?
If so, does it also come with a widget?

Does it show Compilations I have set up in iTunes?
Will it transfer my iTunes podcasts?

I'm just looking for the closest iPod experience on my Android phone! Really frustrating!

1. No
2. No
3. Yes, it syncs playlists.
4. If they're in a playlist.

How can I configure the clock/weather widget (the one with the large flip style clock and animated weather)? I can't find any place to change the settings.

So I just went from a MyTouch to the MyTouch slide.

Is there an easy way to get all the stuff saved to the old SD Card moved to the new one? It's 4 GBs bigger and I wants the space.

Drag and drop? If you have a card reader you can drag and drop everything from the old sd card's main directory to the new one in the phone mounted with USB. No card reader, do old sd card->computer->new sd card by mounting the phone to the computer.

Every once and a while my DI stops recognizing the SD card. A reboot fixes the issue. No idea why.

Is there a way to get DoubleTwist (or any other app for that matter) to see files that are on my internal memory instead of my SD card? I ask because I haven't bought a larger Micro SD Card yet so I'm relying mostly on internal memory for music and such.

Tap it and at the bottom of the next screen you should see 3 icons, the gear on the right is the settings.

That was so easy. I would have thought of that, if it weren't for the alcohol. Or my not really thinking it through...
