It's probably buried in this thread by now, but I released Custom Car Home awhile back for this very reason. It's on the Market. The normal Car Home sucks pretty bad, and 2.2 having those extra spaces was a pretty weird idea.kaching said:I don't think you're missing anything. I've tried everything I can think of there too. They just seem to be unassigned, just keeping the overall grid layout because they had some overflow from the first page of icons.
Thanks! I looked around a bit more and found out how to hide the D-Pad. Still can't align the screen to the top though.beje said:I can do that with Gameboid Lite, to use the hardware pad instead. Double check around the options, it should be there if it comes from the same dev. The option is called "Screen upside-down" and you have to combine it with "Orientation -> Landscape"
Cool, ill check it out.BigFwoosh said:It's probably buried in this thread by now, but I released Custom Car Home awhile back for this very reason. It's on the Market. The normal Car Home sucks pretty bad, and 2.2 having those extra spaces was a pretty weird idea.

I would like to be able to enter the feed in an app and it will check for new shows periodically and when there is one I can download it right to the phone.

But Android might get some special love in a form of an update to a mobile app (maps perhaps?). Who knows.

Kinitari said:Hrm, over time I notice the amount of free memory on my phone will drop from 115 or so to something like 50 - and while that really hasn't given my any noticeable drops in performance yet, it's worrisome. I have to do a hard reset to bring it back up.
Another thing is that even though I have handset sms, the default messaging app will run alongside it, and whenever I turn on the gps on the phone, the default gps app turns itself on. I can't figure out any way to just 'disable' these apps from auto starting, is there anything I can do to fix that?
Galaxy S btw.
Oh one last thing, I am having the annoying problem of only being able to hook up my phone to my computer (or any device) when in the default launcher (not launcher pro) and after installing samsung firmware on the phone, alongside going into kies mode (mass storage mode does nothing).
Jamesfrom818 said:Android and Windows are two totally different beasts so you shouldn't view memory allocation in the same way.
zedge said:So I noticed with my Galaxy S when I plug it into the AUX jack in my car a voice will speak out the song title and artist when I start playing music. Seems to only do this for the first song.. I cant find a setting for this feature, or even knew it existed LOL! Anyone else have this?
On a side note, goddamn I love this phone, its a fucking joy to use. There is the odd stutter here and there but it does not bother me. People at work are just in awe when I show them the screen. I have already potentially swayed two people who were getting Iphone 4s to get a Galaxy S. :lol

Bitch I've already gotten 2, and there is potential for a few more, this is definitely a great eye-candy phone.

First, one of our readers tipped us off to the fact that a couple changes are showing up in the Market tonight. In the screenshot on this post, notice the History and Search icons in the suggestions. Those icons were not there earlier today, and as far as we can remember, the suggestions only previously included terms from your Market search history, not general search suggestions.
Delving into the truly speculative, we hope that the Market enhancements announced tomorrow will include a web-based interface and/or media purchases via the Market, both features previewed at Google I/O.
I noticed the icons earlier today when I was searching. It'd be a nice surpriseSimleuqiR said:You might get what you want, or some of it:
The might be Market centric, maybe including the Sony gaming platform?
Which would be good and all, but you're not supposed to be able to use proper nouns. That's one thing I like about wordwise, if you try an invalid word twice, you lose your turn.jayb said:Jo is the feminine spelling of Joe. I at least knew that.![]()

And its not really cheap to use two letter words, you're limited to them towards the end of a game sometimes.
Play a real person... LordFarquaad, I blow so you should get a good winJamesfrom818 said:He's been using short words the entire game and it ruins the board.

I don't know but I have so many issues with contacts. It could be some of the ROMs I've used, I'm not sure, but it seems like a lot of times, my changes to contacts are not saved. I tried to put in birthdays for a bunch of people and add them to different groups and most of my changes were not saved when done from the phone.GoldenEye 007 said:The people widget, though, is an issue. It definitely is linking to FB and other information when I click on a contact, but it is not loading pictures of anyone. Does anybody have a clue why that could be?
Contacts have been fine for me.. up until a couple weeks or so ago actually. Whenever I've added someone lately and ensured their name is spelled correctly, pictures or other information have not been syncing with FB. Existing contacts and FB friends update as usual, but lately new additions haven't. But that's another issue from what I just described earlier.CrayzeeCarl said:I don't know but I have so many issues with contacts. Also, the People widget doesn't show all the people that are in the group I have selected. The People app shows 14 people in my Favorites group but the widget only shows 8. So I just created a new group called Faves and added those same 14 people and they all show up fine in the widget.
Come to think of it, some of my contacts are showing their picture and some aren't.GoldenEye 007 said:Contacts have been fine for me.. up until a couple weeks or so ago actually. The People Widget from LauncherPro Plus just straight up isn't displaying any pictures, although it displays all contacts it is supposed to.
Yeah, and I'm seeing that no FB information is syncing to them at all. Pictures, additional information, email addresses.... nothing. Weird.CrayzeeCarl said:Come to think of it, some of my contacts are showing their picture and some aren't.
unrevoked forever is a tool to set your Android phone's security level to S-OFF. The security level is a flag stored on the radio; when the flag is S-OFF, the bootloader (HBOOT) will no longer check the signatures of firmware images before flashing them. This allows custom firmware images to be uploaded, including unsigned boot, recovery, splash1, and hboot images (as well as official images that have been modified). When the system is S-OFF, the NAND flash memory protection is also reduced; this allows all partitions (including /system) to be written to while the operating system is booted.
The most substantial benefit of unrevoked forever is that the change is stored in the radio's NV memory; no ENG bootloader is necessary to continue to flash firmware images. Even if an unrootable OTA update is accepted, a device on which unrevoked forever has been run will still be able to reflash a custom recovery image.
