Finally rooted my mytouch slide! Anything I should do right away? Is ADW Launcher better than Launcher Pro? It was preinstalled on the ROM I installed. And how do I do Apps to SD? Thanks!

try both! ADW launcher has some nice themes, and Launcher Pro seems to be slightly smoother when scrolling between screens.

The main pro of ADW Launcher is that its open source and the dev won't charge for extra features. Its the main reason cyanogen and all the other modders use it for their ROMs.

If you have a 2.2 ROM just download Voice Search by Google, or Vlingo. Both free.

Not yet, when I got my EVO I actually looked on their site for an email address I could harass them about putting it on there. Couldn't find anything. If you find it, be sure and post it so I can do so. :lol

But that won't let me do speech to text, right? That's the main reason I want it, since I can use it while driving.

Yeah, I find it baffling when people brag that "OMG I have 80MB of free RAM", I mean, RAM is there for using it. They don't realise the only thing they are doing is killing the battery and slowing the whole system down because every single app has to be loaded from scratch everytime.

When you have a text box up (such as in a text message) click and hold in the typing area and a box will pop up, select "choose input method" and then select Swype.

2.1 had some voice features like "call [contact]", but this expands it with voice actions such as "send text to [contact] [message]", "send email to [contact] [message]", and "listen to [artist/song/album]".

I'm not sure how to fix it, but I thought I'd let you know it runs fine on my stock browser 2.2 (currently using a HTC Desire with Open Desire 3.4 custom rom), and displays all the characters and everything

Good read. But I doubt RIM will ever do that. And even if they do switch over it will be when their backs are up against the wall (too little too late).

Thanks! Swype seems to be messing up on this ROM though. I'll have to keep searching...

If you can't get it to work, I recommend you check out Swift Keyboard, I used it after having used swype for a week or two, and I couldn't go back to swype.

Yahoo themselves will put out an app, I don't know when it is due out, though. Android should be supported this year.

Pure Calendar Widget. I think it's like 99 cents on the market.

Custom. It's LauncherPro with "Suave Icons" used as well as some minor tinkering on my own.
