I indeed think communism is a well-intended idea, but the nature of man is incompatible with it. It requires self-sacrifice by those in power and those that have a lot. Amusingly, feminism could be seen as a form of communism as it is men giving up their natural physical superiority over women and creating a society where they can exist as equals - which, unsurprisingly, is a good thing (talking about actual feminism, not its degenerated 2020-variant). Germany's public healthcare system is also communistic in nature: Everybody receives the best possible medical treatment (ofc, there's an optional private system next to it, so capitalism exists here, too, but not as strongly).
So yes, I'd say communism fails because of corrupt leadership - and that seems inevitable, because even our democratic systems are sensistive to corruption. I could tell you lots about my German government politicians: Scheuer who wasted more than 500 million Euro because he ignored the legality of a traffic project; Klöckner who keeps pushing "voluntariness" in areas where it's obvious that it doesn't work and only benefits the big corporate lobbies; our otherwise okay Green party that keep supporting homeopathy that is evidently bogus; Esken who openly supports the Antifa and implies there's latent racism among all German police; Altmeier who keeps defending coal energy; Söder who keeps wind powerplants from reaching the necessary numbers, and so on. All this obvious WRONG bullshit, and that as part of supposedly strong democracy. These people would lead communism astray just like any historical figures.
But the core idea of communism isn't bad. And certainly doesn't deserve to be put equal to nazism which is pure egotistical evil.
You're describing socialism, not communism. A quick google search of the definition would help, but I'd suggest more reading on the subject if you're going to advocate for a political system which has killed/starved 10s of millions of people.
It's a complex topic, but the quick and dirty definition: a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
Everytime true communism is tried from Josef Stalin's Soviet Union to Mao's Culture Revolution, it ends in starvation, political inquisitions, and concentration camps. Maybe had the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis) had more time before their not-soon-enough demise, they could've racked up a higher body count to be "worse" than communism, but that didn't happen and communism has un-doubt-ly been more evil for more humans on the planet than nazism.
