Answer five short questions for a chance to win a $60 game (Now Closed)

With all of that out of the way, here are the questions!

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. yes I have considered it, and tried a little

2. neither

3. small/indie

4. several different projects over the same course of time

5. self-publishes

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
Yes I have, I would love to join as a concept artist.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
Temporary, at least to start and get a feel for things.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Indie. AAA just isn't what it used to be.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

Being a concept artist, I would say several projects, as I could probably have the time and flexibility (hopefully)

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

No Publishers. Seriously.

IMO, Pubs care less about the integrity of the IP and the customer satisfaction, and more about the highest dollar they can grab. I'd want to be part of a project that puts the game, and it's players above all else.

1. No/No

2. Permanent employment

3. Indie Studio

4. Several small projects

5. Work in a company that self-publishes

5. Publisher partnership.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

I'm currently a game developer

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

Long term/perm employment

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

I'd prefer indie but not small time. Mid/large size indie like 10+ professionals. But yes.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

At the moment several different projects.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Publishing.

1. No
2. Long-term/permanent
3. Indie
4. Large
5. Publisher as a partnership

1. Not a developer, but had considered it

2. Long term

3. Small, but not 3 person small.

4. Several different projects

5. Self publish

1. Not a dev, but I've considered, several times. I've been fiddling with game making engines for a while, but college, two work shifts and problems and home have been making progress difficult.

2. I usually prefer long term employment, if only due to benefits. They end up taking a huge chunk of monthly income for me.

3. I'd prefer to work in smaller studios, mostly because I would have the freedom to deeply participate in the important aspects of the game. The idea of spending 3, 4 years doing assets for a relatively tiny portion of a game doesn't appeal me, even if I loved the final product.

4. It depends. I'm more on the mood of smaller projects, but just because it allows me to experiment a lot and check people's reactions. It'd be very cool to spend a long time perfecting and expanding something I truly felt would be incredible.

5. In accordance with the answer to question 3, definitely self publishing company. We would have the freedom to choose where to go next, and that is awesome, even with all the hardship that comes with it.

Thanks for the opportunity of participating =]

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. I considered contributing to game development for a time while I was wondering which career field to pursue. I was getting into graphic design and thought I might branch out from there.
Went with emergency medicine instead.

2. Long term / permanent employment. Consistent work and job security are very important to me.

3. Indie studio. Working on a project with a small group of people would be much more rewarding to me as I feel I'd be far more connected to them and therefor care more about succeeding. Both for myself and my friends.

4. Several different projects. That way I never feel as if I'm stuck doing the same thing over and over or being creatively stifled.

5. Self publishing. The fewer outside elements the better.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
No

Long term/permanent
3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Small/indie
4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
Several different projects over several years
5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
Self-publishes

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

1. Yes, I have considered becoming a game developer. I'm not one right now though, but I might be in the future.

2. I prefer long term or permanent employment, I feel like it ends up giving more benefits in the long run and can lead to a comfortable retirement, plus you don't have to worry about constantly finding something else to do.

3. I would prefer to start at a small studio, appealing to a more direct group of fans before getting comfortable and moving up. So, small and indie. More friendly.

4. I would rather work on smaller projects over the same amount of time. If I make any mistakes on one, I know what to improve on with the next few projects.

5. I would rather work with a company that self publishes. I don't want the publisher to try and take control over the whole situation of how the game is made.

Thanks a lot for this chance!

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
No, I haven't. Lacking on the creativity for that part of development and not really interested in game development from a coding perspective.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

I prefer long term work.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

I would prefer to work at an indie studio.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

I would prefer to work on one large project.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

I would prefer a publisher.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. I am currently a game developer.

2. Long-term employment. I'm a father and need dependable income.

3. Small indie studio. The creative freedom is priceless.

4. Several different projects. I love being able to explore a variety of different concepts and challenge myself creatively.

5. Self-published games. Investing in yourself is important to me.

1. I have considered and I still am considering.
2. Temporary
3. Indie
4. One large project over several years
5. Self-publishes games.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. Considered, yes.

2. Long term is certainly preferable.

3. I would prefer a small studio.

4. One large project is preferable to juggling multiple smaller projects.

5. It would depend upon the publisher, but in most cases I think a smaller self - published studio has a lot more freedom to make what they want.

1. I always wanted to make a game at least once in my life.

2. I prefer a more stable long-term employment. Contract/temporary work sounds too stressful.

3. A small indie studio seems best, seeing how you can more effectively communicate with each other at that level moreso than the bloated AAA studios (outside of a few exceptions).

4. It really depends. I think I'd prefer several different projects to really get outside my comfort zone (seeing how I really hate devs getting chained to working on one big franchise only for most of the time). Though, if I'm really passionate about the big project, then that's fine as well.

5. Again, like with question #3, this has a variety of pros/cons. The publisher partnership seems to be the best choice, but as long as there isn't much corporate meddling with the game. Self-publishing seems to be the second-best choice otherwise.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1) Not seriously, and no.
2) Long-term/permanent
3) Indie
4) One long-term project
5) Self-publishes

1. I considered it. Went into college as a CS major and was thinking of doing the game design concentration. But it wasn't for me.

2. I like the stability of long term employment.

3. It would depend on the studio, but I think I'd rather work for a bigger studio.

4. I think working on one would be good, but it would depend on the project. It would be interesting to see it evolve and grow.

5. Self publishing is the dream but I wouldn't mind working for a publisher.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
Yes, I've considered it in the past.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
Long term / permanent.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Large / AAA studio. I like the idea of working on something big like Halo or CoD.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
Large project overt multiple years.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
Self published.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. I think it would be awesome but I don't have any of the necessary skills.

2. Long term employment

3. A small indie studio without a doubt!

4. Tough question. I gueeeess one project over several years.

5. Self-publishes for sure.

Thanks OP!

Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

Hell no

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

LONG term

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

AAA Studio

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

One project.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Self published. But, if I was I'd want to experience both.

1. I once considered it, but have never had a job in the industry. I took coding in school and thought I might aim for a career as a programmer. However I would probably have taken work in a different field rather than compete to work in development.
2. Long term.
3. In the middle. Size of company would be less important than pay, benefits, team compatibility, etc.
4. Probably several small projects. Any creative endeavor can hit a roadblock, and then it's helpful to work on something completely different.
5. Self publishing. I have no faith in committees making good design decisions.

I've considered it, I've screwed around with Unity, RPG Maker and GameMaker Studio but I've never released a game.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

Permanent employment definitely.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

Small indie studio.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

Several different projects over the same course of time. It would be a refreshing change.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Self published, a lot less publisher pressure to have something released by a deadline.

1. No - I can barely get Excel to work
2. Long term employment with set milestones in place for promotion/raises
3. AAA - rather be in a management role to help get game to completion rather than the actual developing of the game
4. Both - all depends on scope of what you are creating
5. Publisher - let someone else deal with all that bs

If it matters statistically, I'm in the U.S.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
Currently a game developer.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
Long term permanent employment with my own company, ideally. Some occasional temporary consulting can be nice.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Small independent studio.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
Several different projects. I've taken forever on projects, but it would be nice to take no more than 1-2 years per project.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
Self-publishing.

Large project.
5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

wouldn't mind either but i prefer AAA; again, it's about the project and my role in it.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

Several Projects

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Self-publish, or a publisher who will actually give the studio creative freedom

1. Briefly considered it back when I was big into Modding but never anything serious.

2. Long Term/Permanent.

3. Would depend on the title, though I'd probably prefer a large studio.

4. One large project.

5. Self-Publish

1. Never considered it

2. Long term and job stability is more preferrable

3. Related to the previous question, I'd imagine work in a AAA or such would be more secure than with an indie

4. One project through several years

5. Publisher as partner
