So to the actual gunowners in here, what kind of storage to do you have?
I got a 14 gun stack on metal cabinet. Its not a super high quality fire proof safe, but it gets the job done. Keeps all my rounds and supplies in there easily.

I store my handguns in one of these, which is bolted from the inside to the wall of my linen closet. I live alone, so keeping kids and what not away from them isn't really an issue, though.

I have that exact safe. Same make and capacity. Nothing special, and definitely not fire proof, but it works.

But, if I were to have one. I have a panic box mounted under my bed, holding a .45 and 2 magazines.

Well I'm a law enforcement officer so I'm required to carry a gun on duty hours, and I'm encouraged to carry a gun off hours.

Next purchase will be a nice Upper for my AR build. Wouldn't mind trying to build something like Golgo-13s, I think it's more of an A2. I hear it's best to spend the money on a good Upper first, and always build yourself to save the sales tax of buying a complete rifle.

I grew up without ever touching a gun. I've always liked playing shooters. When I was 17, I was taught how to shoot an M16 and did a pretty good job. Despite loving shooters and having access to bad ass weaponry, I found I really dislike guns. I just don't see the appeal. I'm comfortable as long as its make believe, but when it comes to the real thing, I just don't like it and feel disturbed when men talk about guns and shooting to me. I'll pretend with military friends, but gun aficionados are disturbing to me.

Some people do take it a little far (like anything else, everything in moderation) but I see nothing wrong with wanting to defend yourself or going out and shooting some paper targets.otake said:

I like the curve of it better than the glock and the XD, but you do have to pull it back pretty far each shot (as opposed to the glock where a consecutive shot beyond the first doesn't take fully releasing and resqueezing the trigger).
The grip in my hand is the biggest reason I got the gun. It was the least obtrusive and it gave me one less thing to worry about. Whenever I shot a glock I felt like it was uncomfortable in my hand so at least part of my concentration was dedicated to overcoming that feeling.
Now if I could just find a cheaper way to buy some damn ammo I'd be shooting every day. I've seriously considered reloading ammo but the machines to do it seem fairly pricy and I don't have space at my house for it now (I'm renting; maybe once I buy a place I will).
I don't really care that much about guns, but I've always wanted to at least have a license for it as well as have trained for it just in case.
Problem is that I don't live in the US, I really doubt it's even possible to own anything but a hunting gun here in Sweden, and even that I think requires some sort of permit.

I'd say start wherever you want to for your ar15. Most people I know start with the lower though and go from there. That's also the same way I did mine. Either way, you can't really go wrong since you are gonna build it yourself anyway~

I traded a Taurus 92 and paid $150 so in reality around $550-$600

Never owned a gun before, but I do have a BB gun from when I was really young. Went hunting once or twice with the father (I think?) and grandfather when he was alive. This thread is cool, but I feel uneasy owning a gun where I live. I'm across the street from an elementary school.

I shot with a modded SIG last year. It has a new grip with picatinny rails, a vertical hand grip under the barrel, a 24x Leupold scope and a custom chick laying cross thing. It's amazing how easy it was to put rounds in the 7/8/9/10 of the target at 200 meters even for me who never fired .223 cal (5.56)
And after that, for the lulz, with setup the bipod and the silencer. It felt even more badass.

Except longer (it was 551, this is 552) and without laser and red dot. It was a real scope.

First time I shot with it I was kind of expecting some bone shattering kick-back but there was barely any. Although when you switch the rifle to burst fire / full auto that's a different story.

I'm really warming up to the S&W MP 15-22, at only $500 MSRP its a great price for an AR platform plinker.
Wow this might be a great first rifle for me. I wanted to build an AR, but with the price of ammo .22 might be the best.
The only thing is I bet there is 0% recoil, so it might get boring quick.
Either way it looks sweet.

Too bad ammo is so expensive.I'm not a gun owner I just happen to have a roommate in the possession of guns who advocates using them if necessary. 5 arms in the house and well I have no qualms sleeping at night should someone unexpected decide to pay our home a visit. I love handguns but nothing is more satisfying than a shotgun or rifle.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between a same plane aperture and the standard a2 is? I'm looking for a rear sight for my ar15 and the one I want gives me those 2 options.
