Anyone else buying the Slim over the Pro?

The exclusive games I will buy for the PS4 are from japanese devs so I doubt they even try to improve the games for the PS4 PRO.

So Slim for me.

I am.

Don't care bout the Pro because I have a PC, I just want a Playstation for exclusives

This is exactly why I'd go with the Slim if I wanted to buy a PS4. If most games aren't going to run at 60FPS anyway, I might as well just save the money. The Pro is a serious disappointment.

I think sony knew what they were doing in pricing. Pro with increase in visuals for 1080 will be worth in for some titles, others no

and especially VR

I would not buy a slim other than a collectors item which I will do

We live in a world where 900p vs 1080p is a big deal for some people, 30 fps vs 28fps and digital foundry videos.

The bump is a big deal for some people.

For me?! Eh, I would upgrade just to refresh my console and getting 1tb and a slight hardware bump along with future proofing 4K seems worth $100 to me.

IF I were to need a new PS4 I would absolutely go with a Pro, but I gots me a 4k HDR TV.

Supersampling is no joke bro.

I'll wait to see it with mine own eyes. Shit looks great on my PC tbf

In particular as 1080p owner I'd go for Pro over slim if you don't have a PS4 yet. That framerate and IQ increase alone makes it a no-brainer at that price point.

I feel like people with 1080p tvs benefit more from the Pro than people with 4k tvs tbh.

I feel the same. There is still a long way to go with 1080p before jumping to 4k
(it is just easy to see if you compare 1080p with a GTX1060 or RX480 with OG PS4)

I'm going pro exactly for this. I have a decent PC and want the best version for the PS4 exclusives.

The 1TB Pro is like a Domino's Pizza dinner in price over the 1TB Slim. Yes there is the 500GB PS4, which if it is all you can get it is worth it, but the tiers Sony set up it is difficult to resist the Pro if you need a PS4.

I wouldn't honestly. For a bit more money you'll get a system that runs better even at 1080p

Though I can understand the appeal of a game and controller

Everything said here is right on. I'd sacrifice the extras and the $100 for more long term performance.

Maybe right now you're happy with PS4 performance, but a game might come down the road that would make you glad to have the Pro.

Buying a slim over a pro is hard to justify for the minimal extra cost. Even with just a 1080 set you're going to get improved frame rates graphics and on some of the newer games (Horizon,FFXV.Mass Effect Andromeda, Battlefield 1, Cod Infinite and God of War) you are going to want that extra performance boost.

Slim makes no sense to me. People should just get Pro. Its like $50 extra if you compare 1TB to 1TB.

nah, however ive been thinking that i cant fucking wait without a PS4 this long so im in this debate with myself if i should buy the slim now then sell it when i get my Pro

I'll probably buy the Slim on sale during Black Friday or something. I just want the lowest barrier to entry to PS4 for exclusives, Remote-Play, and Persona 5. And Slim seems like a solid version with only improvements over the previous model.

I primarily play games on my PC and I have a Rift, so I'm not necessarily starving for PSVR, which would ideally be paired with Pro, although the games look solid.

Of course they did. It's the decoy effect to get people to buy a Pro.

Did you only read the first three words of that post?
There will be Pro bundles too like every other console... it will be released in time to Black Friday.

That didn't change the price difference is $50... Sony went crazy with Pro price.

I'd go with Pro even I have a sub HD Sony Bravia atm. Pro is certainly faster and snappier and I'm pretty sure games will have great improvements and more stable fps when the output is 1080p. I'm not concerned about 4K and hdr anytime soon cuz I believe when those become mainstream we will be talking PS5 by then

That makes me thinks who Sony wants to sell Slim... these prices just killed it.

Preorder on Amazin are far way better for Pro than Slim.

I'm planning on getting a Slim for my brother. I'd love to get him a Pro but $100 is $100. I've budgeted $300ish for him so the Slim will have to do.

Make sure you get a gift receipt so he can exchange it for a pro.

The slim needs to be 199-249 to be valid. At 299 it's too close to pro price to even consider Imo.

I am also buying a PS4 Slim for Bloodborne.

Not interested at all in specs race (I have Xbox One and never once mattered about multiplats looking better on PS4) and for now it seems there will be no exclusives for PS4 Pro over OG PS4 and PS4 Slim.

And of course PS4 Slim is $100 cheaper. I hope to get it on Black Friday/ Christmas for like $249?

Pro is far more future proof, with a huge power jump that will be more and more obvious as developers get accustomed to the best way to use all the extra GPU power.

It will also be great if you ever want PSVR, which you may not want now but there may be a killer app for it that comes out down the road.

Supersampling alone would be worth 100 bucks to me, let alone extra effects and improved framerates, but we all have different budgets. Also, I plan to get PSVR which will benefit from Pro.

Parents buying for their kids probably.

The relatively small price gap really does make Pro seem like a good deal. In reality, Slim should probably be $50 cheaper but, profits.

Me! I don't care for graphics and 4K crap etc, happy with standard PS4 graphics.

I will wait for the eventual PS5 for bigger leap.

So for now I will trade in my OG PS4 for Slim PS4. Better WiFi, cooler, quieter, smaller.

Yeah I'm getting the Slim over Pro. No 4K, no plans to get one and I like the Slim's design better. I'm really not a big graphics junky( and I don't freak out over 30FPS vs 60FPS) anyway so saving 100 dollars and getting Uncharted 4 is good enough for me.

There's really no need for the pro without a compatible TV. And you've said you won't be getting one anytime soon.

The enthusiasts on here will insist on pro because of frames and resolution. But really, the skim will do. And you get an extra pad and fifa.

There's your nights in with your mates sorted. Won't be much fun showing your mates the pro with marginal graphic improvements and one pad to play.

Go with the slim.

These two sum it up for me. That's how I feel. I knew the majority would suggest the Pro - this is GAF after all - but glad to see some people share my thoughts.

It's this simple for me I guess:

£350 for Pro 1TB
£310 for Slim 1 TB
Or... £330 for Slim 1TB, controller and Fifa 17.

When you consider the controller is retailing at £50, Fifa 17 at £40 and a 1TB hard drive at around £40 that's £130 worth of stuff bundled into the 500GB Slim which costs £260. So separately that would be £390. Thanks to the bundle I can save a lot of money....

And ultimately price is more important to me than frame rates / shinier graphics etc.

Pro won't deliver this 4k games people are expecting... it will indeed increase the 1080p gaming experience for a new level.

That for $50 more.

And I'm sure they will be Black Friday bundles with one retail game st $399 for Pro.
