Anyone else dissapointed in the PS4 launch titles?

I really want to buy a PS4 at launch but none of the launch titles hold any interest for me right now. The only title out of the bunch I saw that held any interest for me was Second Son (which is supposed to come out in 2014).

I have a pre-order in for a PS4 @ Amazon, but if nothing changes I'll probably cancel it as we approach launch date.

Why don't you just sell your PS4 for a mark up if you wont want it at launch?

Plenty of 3rd party games too, but as far as exclusives go ill probably get killzone. Bf4 and watchdogs will hold me over until infamous comes out.

I always knew I would be getting a PS4 mainly for the third party multiplatform titles anyway, so I'm okay with the launch lineup. I'm interested in COD Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4, personally, so that's already more than what I will be willing to spend at launch.

No, I'm quite excited about the launch games. I don't know how they'll turn out, but a lot of the titles (The Witness, Watch_Dogs, Planetside 2, Knack etc.) are radically different than the games I've been playing this gen. Hopefully the games will be great and they all make it for launch.

I may just be easily pleased, but Driveclub, Knack, and Killzone all look like fun to me. Throw on top of that a lot of nice 3rd party titles, and this launch has more than my wallet can buy.

Oh and I totally forgot about The Witness and the F2P games like Planetside 2.

Compared to what?

360: Didn't buy one launch game, the onyl good one was CoD2, which I had on the PC. So I rented a few of the games, none worth owning.

PS3: Resistance was great, nothing else worth mentioning.

PS4: Killzone and Driveclub day one. I'll watch reviews for Knack and a few others.

So PS4 seems to be better than most launches, Vita had a good lineup though.

Wii U - Zombie U, NintendoLand, New Super Mario Bros.

Xbox 360 - Amped 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Condemned, Kameo and PGR3

PS3 - Resistance, Madden, Ridge Racer

Xbox One - Ryse, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3

Killzone instead of Resistance
Drive Club instead of Motorstorm
Meh!

Is Primal Carnage a launch title?

Not really excited, hope AC is OK. Anyway, 3rd party stuff should cover a few months.

All the launch games of PS4 are the same kinda games I don't care about on PS3; the big AA samey-fest that have characters and setting that ultimately seem like everything I DON'T want in gaming.

The indies of PS4 fare much better for me, but I think I will eventually be able to get a LOT of those on Vita, so I think I get all I need from Sony, with the systems I already have. If I want the kind of games PS4 is offering now, I have a heap of PS3 Sony exclusive that I still have no played. I can probably get them all for 400 dollars, and all their DLC, lol. Knack looks interesting to me, and it's probably the title that closest resembles something with the personality that I'd want to buy.

XB1 has Killer Instinct, and promise of Crimson Dragoon. For a fighter-fan, and an "obscure Japanese games that get no chances anywhere else!" person like me, those are huge pluses.

Dead Rising 3 also brings back one of my strongest original reasons for wanting a 360. The fact that Dead Rising was a game that concentrated less on resolution and sparkly graphics (the fluff of a new gen), and more on using system power to provide more density and per-object interaction, was the thing that drew me to it, and 360. This new one eliminating loads, adds open world, and ups the density to a whole new level. "FANTASTIC!", to quote Frank...

Project Spark looks like the more well-designed Little Big Planet I always wanted (LBP platform controls feel horrid to me), and Titanfall looks like the best elements of original Xbox Mech Assault, crossed with the human warfare of EDF. Plants VS Zombies Garden Warefare also is the fun, whimsical kind of thing that I could see surprising me, and pulling me in instantly.

So XB1 easily wins with me, for now, and the upcoming future.
I could see the balance changing some, once TGS rolls around, though.

You realize in that future they re-stock supplies right?

Of course, but there's a certain level of enjoyment of getting a console at launch. It's not like there's going to be much of a price cut within the first year anyways. Besides, buying into a console later on can exacerbate the issue of getting through a back log for some people. Fortunately I'm not one of those people but worth pointing out :P

As for the question in the OP - I'm not really excited for anything on either console at launch. If it weren't for there being a new generation I probably wouldn't buy Battlefield. Watch Dogs looks great but that's probably something I'll check out after a price drop.

In all honesty I expect to be playing my other consoles / PC than the PS4 this fall. Nothing different than how I treated pretty much any other generation except the Gamecube (N64 was dead to me nearly instantly afterwards). The only real difference is this is the first time I'm not going to be able to take advantage of backwards compatibility so that's kinda disappointing.

I hear ya. I'm trying to contain myself and hold off but it's hard. I still have plenty of games to play now.

Do we know what all the PS4 launch titles are yet? Because I'm not sure I'm capable of being disappointed without knowing.

Honestly, I care more about PSN for PS4 titles. Launch titles are usually crap, but you can keep the enthusiasm up with great PSN/XBLA titles. Pixel Junk Monsters is a great example. It captivated me more than any launch title.

I wonder if you will be able to buy launch games digitally on day one? and if any of the PSN/XBLA games will be there for launch.

Can't be disappointed when your expectations were low in the first place.

It does sort of suck that none of the games I preordered are part of the launch/launch window lineup, but I knew that going in.

I think I'm more disappointed in the performance we've seen so far of the launch exclusives, namely Knack and Driveclub.

P.s. I also dont like this notion that launch lineups are expected to be underwhelming. U.S. Dreamcast launch has put every console launch to shame since 9/9/99

I have gotten as many as 6 games at a launch and I think the PS4's has the possibility of being the greatest launch in terms of quantity and quality.

I've pretty much been disappointed with every launch game as far as I can remember. You can only really count quality launch games on one hand as far back as gaming goes.

Knack, Watchdogs and Driveclub all look good to me. I'm optimistic about Killzone even though I didn't like 2 or 3. This one seems like it'll be more open.

The only games I'm really interested in is Killzone and Jonathan Blow's game. I think it was smart to hold off releasing Infamous until later because of the strong third party support.

Not really, the cross-gen titles pick up alot of the slack for me. KZ:SF is probably the only true PS4 title I'll buy at launch

It would be naive to think either launch line up is complete, especially Sony's.

While true, there is no need for Sony themselves to announce any more of their studio's games for launch. Save some of that for early 2014 and on. Show something at Gamescom for people to be excited about owning in March and May of next year. Same with TGS, though there they will need to show something for the Japanese market to get excited about.

Despite the naysayers there is plenty to play come launch, what is needed is to prove to people that the hits will keep coming and it won't be anything like the Wii U post launch, which is STILL waiting for the "launch window" Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3. Infamous Second Son and The Order are good starts, need to keep building on that.

i like the look of knack but if its run & shoot like ratchet & clank rather than good platforming with real depth then i'm out.

kz has to do a lot to impress me after kz3 was underwhelming.

no pro evo as well which is a let down as i probably would have bought a ps4 for that.

battlefield & cod can go to hell, and well ubisoft need to drastically change their game formula & mechanics before i buy another one of their open world games, as they all play the fucking same.

im looking forward to gta v rather than any of next gen atm.

Im more excited for the launch or near launch DD games for the PS4.

As for the physical games , I'm just slightly more excited for the PS4 launch than the Xbone launch titles.

But overall.... its just like every other console launch.

I will decide on my joy for the launch lineup once I know everything that is in it.

I was very pleased with what I got on the Vita on launch day so lets see how they do.

As far as the exclusives thing goes, I'm not buying an Xbox One, and I don't tend to buy as many games on PC. So the PS4 launch lineup isn't just about exclusives for me.

From the exclusives, Knack, Killzone, and Driveclub seem like a good time.

Throw in Watch Dogs into the mix, and I'll be entertained for quite some time.

In terms of exclusives? Maybe

In terms of every game coming at launch? Maybe the strongest I've seen

Fifa, Need for Speed and maybe BF4 for me.

I think people have way too high standards for console launches. Since when have they ever been good? Actually, these are pretty good launches considering we'll be getting whatever exclusive titles MS/Sony bring and then all the third party AAA games.

which ever 1st party game does poorly will most likely to be first one to prop up on PS+ for cheaper or free. So I won't be itching at buying many games expecting some specials on PS+

It is disappointing that all the new consoles have had solid but underwhelming launch title lineups, particularly in terms of exclusives. Nothing that really makes you want to own the console for.

I'll stick with GT6. Might get a PS4 when Infamous is released but Dark Souls 2 is coming in March so... These are incredibly time consuming games. I don't know if I can justify a new console with mamoth games like these being released on hardware I already own.

That most likely will happen at 2014 e3. I think we will only get indie before that.

If sony is smart they will not have any more launch line up games. They will sell out no matter what they have. The launch line is very strong if you dont have a good pc or getting xbone too. Putting more game against BF4, watch dogs, AC4 and COD is not a smart business move. People are only going to buy so many games at launch...

Really they need to have a very strong 2014 line up to keep people buying the system after launch. Having second son in early 2014 was very smart move. I hope the rest of the games announce will be early to mid 2014. I dont want a huge drought like the wiiu.

Knack and Killzone both look interesting to me but like others I think there's a fair chance more launch titles will be announced at GamesCom/TGS

Yeah, the PS4 launch titles are not too stellar, but the games coming out for it should more than make up for this.

Underwhelmed so far, yes. Disappointed, no. I am expecting more games to be announced for launch window (first six months) by TGS. Truth be told it's unlikely that I'll get a PS4 this year since I'm not in the states and it'd be super expensive for me to import one, plus I would have to ship it back in case something went wrong with it (defective unit, etc).

Last I checked, we didn't even have a final launch lineup yet, less I missed some announcements at E3.

Arguing about the xbone or ps4 titles seems rather premature right now.
