Anyone else dissapointed in the PS4 launch titles?

I guess this can be filed away with this and this. I'll say what I said with the other threads. Since both line-ups are almost the exact same give or take three titles on either side, it's likely one will find both poor, or good, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I was originally buzzed by both, and now I'm a little flat on both. I actually figured that instead of padding uot my purchase with gamesI don't really want, I'd just buy the games I am super psyched over, and use the rest of my savings for the other console, and the few games I'm super psyched over on there too. Imo though, the line-up is not as fleshed out as I expected it would be post E3, in terms of games only available on next gen. Both launches are defined by the same third party cross gen titles. It is what it is.

I think the Xbox launch line up is far superior with Forza, Killer Instinct and Dead Rising, but to each its own...

Killzone and Knack are not interesting looking games to me and i dont buy a 400$ console for Indies and Free to Play...

Infamous looks awesome, shame it isn't it a launch title.

The actual launch title is pretty weak. I might just wait till Infamous drops.

Yes. Both the XB1 and PS4 have a lackluster launch line up. I can't believe MS didn't do everything in their power to make Titanfall a launch game. Seems like it could be a system seller. At least the 3rd party games look interesting. Spring 2014 should be great though.

Best launch line up that I can remember.

Yes, the launch is lame and average.
I'm buying a PS4 at launch because I am bored with current-gen.

None of the launch titles inspire to pick one has my 1st game to the point that I will just download demos and indie games until MGS5 comes out or something

yes, right now im doubting whether to jump in at launch.

driveclub didnt look like it was for me so i started looking at shadowfall and second son, but with the latter being delayed i dont think i'll be jumping in at launch just for killzone.

i think i'll see out 2013 with the PC for multiplats and keep my PS3 for GTA V. but there are a few more chances before launch where sony could announce new titles so i'm keeping my pre-order just in case

Nope.

Pre-ordered Killzone and I am waiting to see how knack and driveclub turn out.

Other than that the indie games and 3rd parties will carry me until Infamous (love that series)

I said this in Xbone threads but we don't even know the whole of the launch lineups yet....

Right now, half the games I may get on PC but the exclusives are good but not great. Not until we know how they are. I don't like calling it any direction when we haven't even played these games.

Agreed lets wait until gamescon so we can't rule anything out

Since Diable 3 is releasing for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in september I can't imagine it not being a PS4 launch title. Everyone seems to forget about this game nowadays.

I'm interested in all three Sony launch titles, but it's definitely not spectacular by any means. And who knows, there may be other Sony launch titles we don't know about yet.

I get this but if you care about specs...shouldn't you have a PC?

It's a lot to put down money to technically play games you can already play. You are paying over 600 bucks to play a prettier version.

This kind of play the best version only comes into play if you have the system already.

Look I'm basically buying one for NBA2k14 a game that won't be super amazing over the ps3 version so I am the guy I'm making fun of but I wish there was a only for next gen game that appeal to me as in the back of mind I'm going "i totally could have saved money and just bought this for my ps3.."

Also if you're planning on getting the system soon anyway. You can move up the purchase a little and enjoy a vastly improved experience in those games. I can't stand current gen games anymore after 7 years to be honest.

I'm torn between thinking both PS4 and Xbone look good or look very meh at launch. On one hand you have many 'big' games on day one like Killzone, Knack, DriveClub, Forza 5, Killer Instinct and Dead Rising 3. On the other hand, when you break each of them down they disappoint in their own ways. On PS4, i'm disappointed in:

- Killzone not looking nearly as spectacular as I once thought. I fear they may have blown their cinematic load at the original reveal. The E3 showing just did not impress me any more than the FPS games that are already on the market or what third parties are doing. The framerate also looked dodgy at 25-30fps and as a result i've heard many reports of the return of the dreaded input lag.

- Knack's trailers have made it look like a fun game reminiscent of previous PlayStation platformers, and it's being directed by OMG Mark Cerny, but despite this all of the gameplay demos i've seen have looked awful. Gameplay seems incredibly shallow and simplistic and the entire thing feels more like a tech demo for Havok physics and toon shaders. The framerate also struggles at times.

- DriveClub is possibly the most interesting exclusive i've seen, but it's a racing game and there are already dozens of them being released, so it's difficult to get excited about that. GT6 and Forza 5 seem to be doing more and are releasing at the same time. 30fps (with drops apparently) also sounds pretty poor compared to what Turn 10 have managed to achieve with Forza 5 on weaker hardware.

Almost everything else I can get on PC. The first genuinely great looking game coming out on PS4 is InFamous, so I might as well wait until more games like that are out before buying one. Or Phantom Pain.

Nope.

I try not rush through my games and go for 100% completion when I can, so The Witness, Watch Dogs, and Knack (or an unannounced title)-- along with PS+ freebies, PS3 backlog, etc..-- will be more than enough for me until the second round of launch window titles like inFamous:SS & Dark Souls 2 hit the shelves.

I'm crazy excited for Don't Starve, Outlast, and Secret Ponchos as well.

KZ looks very pretty but man Im pretty tired of the scripted shooters, now maybe its different from the COD's of the world but I doubt it.

I am interested in Watch Dogs but how much of a difference will it be from the ps3 version, can just pick that up and get the same experience.

For those with a goo to great PC the launch line up is soft on reasons to buy, but for those who don't its a great line up!

I plan on getting Killzone, Madden 25, and WatchDogs.
Then there is DriveClub: Plus Edition and some of those indy games that will be free for Plus users.

That should keep me going until spring or so. :)

It's basically the only thing Sony didn't slam-dunk. They have the better hardware, better price, more mind-share, but they have far less interesting games, at least to me.

Battlefield 3 - looks great, but damn i wish the console versions had more players

Battlefield 4 - why get a ps4 when i can just play it on ps3 with less players?

As far as exclusives are concerned, yes. However, if the PS4 was the only console I was getting, I wouldn't worry about not having games to play

I have like 8 PS4 games preordered, and not a single one is exclusive to the platform.

The Xbone exclusives are far better IMO, but $100 more for inferior hardware does not compute. Having the better versions of multi platform games is more important to me than exclusives.

Good for you guys who get excited over Killzone, but have you seen BF4... ;)

3rd party multiplatform games on the PS3/PS4 were the stars of the Sony conference.
The only games that interested me are The Order: 1886 and Infamous: Second Son.
Drive Club doesn't have the same level of feel as NFS:Rivals and The Crew. Knack looks okay I guess. Killzone: ShadowFall ... meh. It does look pretty though.

I rather play TLoU, Beyond: Two Souls and GT6.

Ill say the same thing I said in the xbox thread on this same subject. How much money do you want to spend on a launch? Youre already buying a 399$ system, probably psn+ if you dont have it already, maybe an accessory and at least 1 game... If they had 3,4 or 5 awesome launch games, I would be pissed. I cant afford that, and I would think most other people cant either with the amount of complaints about a 499$ systems.

Im happy that each system only has 1-2 games I want

Higher framerates and resolution are enough for me to jump to next gen asap, the games will eventually come and i love getting new tech so, i'm ok with the launch line up.

Yeah, I decided to jump ship from MS to Sony because I was annoyed by how much more Sony focused on creating interesting exclusive IPs. But now the launch lineup is kind of like generic space marine fps, generic driving sim, a Lego clone, AssCreed 5243 and Sports and more fps. I didn't sign up for this.

May wait till Second Son comes around, even though that's largely on the nice visuals, I don't think the game itself will be as interesting.

Now if they port TLoU and Beyond over for launch... Seriously Sony why have you not yet confirmed this?

Yes i am, I suppose. On the other hand, I only have to buy one console at launch. My wallet seems happy about that. If infamous was a launch title I would've definitely gotten it at launch. Killzone has never done anything for me, and besides the awesome graphics Killzone has not much going for it. I for one am really interested in Knack, but it's not something I need to play day one. Well see what Sony has up their sleeve at gamescom, but i doubt they'll have more launch games. Definitely buying a PS4 next year though, around the time InFamous comes out. For now X1 has the better exclusives.

Yes I am disappointed. The 1st party line-up is weak. Killzone: Shadow Fall is the best one but I don't think I will buy the game at launch.

Too bad inFamous: Second Son isn't one of the launch games. That game looks fantastic and fun!

Luckily there is still Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4 and Need For Speed: Rivals waiting for me.

Yeah, nothing looks that wow-worthy. But I wasn't gonna buy a PS4 at launch anyways, so no worries. A year or two down the line, the PS4 will have some killer games, I'm sure.

It'll depend a lot on reviews/impressions I guess, but when I get my PS4 about a month after launch or so I can see myself having a lot of options in terms of what launch titles to get. Never played a Killzone game as it's never appealed to me before, but Shadow Fall actually looks really great and different enough from past titles that I can definitely see myself grabbing it early on. Knack has left me cold since its showing at E3 so I'll likely give that a pass; it just looks too barren and simplistic, and for a supposed platformer there's a distinct lack of platforming going on. DriveClub, regardless of quality, will be free courtesy of PS+ so that's nice. Third-party wise, things are shaping up really well. Watch Dogs is probably my most anticipated PS4 game of the year, so that'll be a no-brainer as long as it doesn't end up being shit-tier, but I don't see that happening. Need for Speed: Rivals is always an option if DriveClub turns out to be total and utter crap. Shame it's not being wholly developed by Criterion, so jury's out on that one, but it does look ace so far. I can always get The Witness and Transistor for my indie fix too, although I'm unsure if they're out this year.

Not a bad line-up if you ask me!

It's just a shame Second Son has been delayed to next year, otherwise that would have been a guaranteed purchase.

thanks for that jr. Not sure what you point is other than to say you don't care for 10/23+ games.

Yeah dude. Lego games are awesome if you have kids. I know this might blow your mind but different people have different taste and they wouldn't be making these games if they wouldn't think it would sell.

Hey. I think that is a completely fair reason for you to have for being happy the launch line-up is what it is (if not strange; surely you want to know there are more good games for you to get once you've finished what you've got?), but you can't put that reasoning, and your financial constraints on others, it doesn't work. What is contextually right for you, is not right for everyone. I literally have enough saved up for 7-8 launch games. Perhaps my own mistake, but I thought coming out of E3 I'd be falling over myself picking launch titles. I would have taken that in an instance. I'd have taken that if I could only afford 2, so I would know there was a ton to get past what I can afford.

A bit disappointed so far, after how they hyped it up to be a huge one.

I wanted The Witness and is slowly getting interested in InFamous: Second Son but they're coming out Q1 2014. Then I wanted Daylight and Outland but they're not launch either.

The only one I'm getting is FIFA 14, and it'll be the first time I'll only get a football game for launch. I'm still considering Watch_Dogs and Killzone: Shadow Fall though.

But it's not horrible at all. I'll play FIFA every day and also try out PlanetSide 2 and War Thunder (F2P). So there'll be lots to play, especially if I decide to review DriveClub and Knack as well.

Actually, it's a DECENT line-up. :)

Kinda, but I'm more interested in the indie titles.

this, the f2p titles will suffice until more comes. no more AC for me, im done with that franchise but the rest of the multi platform titles would be swell. knack is looking more and more enticing.
hoping something real nice and surprising is announced

I really want to buy a PS4 at launch but none of the launch titles hold any interest for me right now. The only title out of the bunch I saw that held any interest for me was Second Son (which is supposed to come out in 2014).

I have a pre-order in for a PS4 @ Amazon, but if nothing changes I'll probably cancel it as we approach launch date.
You captured my feelings exactly. I really hope that there's more stuff to be announced. I'm not going to cancel my preorder or scalp it but my PS4 may be sitting for a while in the box until more games come out.

I don't buy consoles for launch titles. It's an invest in the future of the platform and a safeguard against any crazy shortages that may happen.

Noooooo really?

First show me how much diablo 3 will sell and how it will be rated

Compared to what?

360: Didn't buy one launch game, the onyl good one was CoD2, which I had on the PC. So I rented a few of the games, none worth owning.

PS3: Resistance was great, nothing else worth mentioning.

PS4: Killzone and Driveclub day one. I'll watch reviews for Knack and a few others.

So PS4 seems to be better than most launches, Vita had a good lineup though.
