That just means the finger print information is never available. That doesn't mean you can't have an API that accesses it and says either yes or no to the app.

This is because Samsung and all the hardware makers don't make services, it's a feature in a vacuum. Google has mostly tripped over itself with Google Wallet but the ideas are good, we just need someone who could execute on multiple fronts. Ironically, Apple's passbook continues to be useless without it.
Anyone who seriously thought Apple was going to make the 5C a sub-$400 off-contract phone is a fool. It's an iPhone 5 in a plastic shell. It was never going to be that cheap.

Whether some of us think its smart or not, Apple is not going to make a move on pre-paid markets. Theyre conceding that to others.

The meaning of the S has never changed. People might have assumed it was for Siri or now I bet they'll say Security to be cute but it's always been for speed. The main numbers come up with the new phone design and features, the S phones always just improve the internals with a faster processor and better camera.

It was perfectly reasonable to think Apple might replace the 4S with the 5C in order to have all the phones at the same screen size and all the phones using a lightning connector.
How about Passbook combined with NFC? That would work great together.

I know what unlocked prices typically are. Ive bought 3 unlocked iPhones since 2008.
They were expensive but they were TOTL build quality devices. An iphone 4 for $650 felt like it was worth $650 in your hand.
The 5C is, well, not. Its a budget looking device being sold at a high end price and requires the contract to be palatable.

There was never ever in a million years going to be a redesign of the phone this year. It's an S model, they only bump the specs. If you want a bigger phone, wait until a solid number model comes out.
Also they don't do multiple screen sizes due to fracturing the user base and ruining compatibility between apps.
