Not surprising, I'm assuming you own an iPhone and are in love with it and don't also own a phone with NFC because most people own exactly 1 phone.

To be fair, NFC has been largely worthless. Not that passbook was any better. But Apple tends to implement features a lot better than any Android manufacturer.

LoL....

Apple must be on a crusade to boost their operating margins since their stock price took a beating this year.

Those retail, non-contract prices are beyond ridiculous, especially for the 5C.

There was never ever in a million years going to be a redesign of the phone this year. It's an S model, they only bump the specs. If you want a bigger phone, wait until a solid number model comes out.

Also they don't do multiple screen sizes due to fracturing the user base and ruining compatibility between apps.
They already fractured the userbase once by moving to 16:9. Now that they've jumped that hurdle, making the screen bigger won't fracture jack.

WHY APPLE, so much ugh

I would have bought it if the standard space was 32GB but I jut dont know if I am on board for this.
I preordered a Galaxy Note 3 with 32gb WITH sd support as well, for $299. I'm not one of those "hurr durr functionality" jackasses who shit on Apple because iPhone doesn't have an sd slot or tacky chrome/carbon fiber icon sets released by a community of 12 year olds, but damn with these prices they did absolutely nothing to make me switch back again.

I just realized Apple stopped making the all black iphone 5 entirely. they’re not selling the 5 at all and the new 5S only comes in grey.

I love my monolithic all black iphone 5 even more. it’s a collector’s item, guys!

For one thing the 5C has LTE and will be marketed as something new. They showed a commercial they made for the 5C. They never made commercials for the 4S in 2012. China Mobile (largest carrier in the world) is just going to turn on LTE this year and never had an iPhone before. So there will be a lot of people buying it because it is either "new," the first time it's available on their carrier, or the first time getting an LTE device.

The iPhone 4 sold more than the iPhone 4S last year. Apple is trying to model split so they have better margins. I doubt it'll make much of a difference. The people in that demographic are extremely price conscious.

iPhone 4S for $450. Wow lol

That said, this was a solid show from Apple. Good incremental upgrades but no game-changer.

seriously that 5C price hahaha my sides

after all the speculation about a budget iphone and for so long

Apple is ripping off Canadian non stop.

iPhone 4S at release: $649
iPhone 5 at release: $699
iPhone 5S at release: $719

Just looked, you can get S4 for £500 sim free in UK, complete with 8 core CPU and 1080p screen.

My contract is up in Feb, I was going to go IOS but I don't think I'll bother now.

Now with the prices I'm seriously thinking about waiting for Google.

Do you have an iPhone already. I'm so deep in the apple app/itunes ecosystem now I'd literally be throwing old money down the toilet if I shifted platforms at this stage.

I have a 4S. I skipped the 5. 5S seems pretty good to me, so I shall be pre-ordering a 32Gb sim-free on the 20th. Not sure on colours though. Not sure at all.... I've always gone black before, but the black 5 is nicer than the black 5S that's for sure. With iOS 7 being so white I might actually go white this time...

For real though, should I hold my breath for the ios gm today or not?

That's something maybe if you keep it mint, otherwise the paint job starts to look like shit pretty quickly.

We're getting very chicken and egg here. People who want NFC may realize that you need both the hardware capability as well as the infrastructure that would let you use it. Same with wireless charging. Saying both are worthless "because I've never used them" is silly. As pointed out finger print sensors aren't new but the hardware/software integration makes this new implementation more interesting and likely more useful.
