What exactly did people think an iPhone 5 with a plastic shell was going to cost?
It's more a matter of perception. Of course the bill of materials is not much less on 5C, but we know that Apple sells phones for massive profits, so introducing a plastic one seemed like a decision to introduce simply a lower margin product. Turns out they decided instead to create an even higher margin product than it would be if they just kept selling 5.

Do you have an iPhone already. I'm so deep in the apple app/itunes ecosystem now I'd literally be throwing old money down the toilet if I shifted platforms at this stage.

How much do you really have invested? How much of it do you still use? Apps are cheap especially relative to the cost of a phone or your monthly phone plan.

Does anyone know which game this is?

Something people are forgetting is that the 5C and 5S also come with iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, pages, keynote, and numbers for free.

Nokia invented colors, after all

Every iOS device can get these for free now. They just dropped the price to free on the App Store.

Yeah, wonder if they fixed that or will just sweep it under the rug again.... >.>

There's a reason the black model has a "grey" finish now instead of the previous black slate finish.

Why would they do that though? The whole idea is that the previous phones were still costing too much. The cheaper bill means they can improve margins. If it didn't, why would they even do it?

Oh, I'm in deep. It's not just apps. It's my productivity with omnifocus & the sync, the sync features between iphone and osx, reading list, ibooks, iTunes music & video.

Not just the apps, but the whole shebang.

Music is DRM free now, so that's great, but I've got a fair few digital movies on the service now. I haven't bought a DVD/Bluray in years. Same with iBooks as well.

So, as a first time Iphone buyer, do I really need a 32 gig? Would it just be for music mostly? Because I'm fine with streaming my music.

Depends, how many apps are you going to have on your phone? I don't play any games on my phone, so I think 16 will hold me off pretty good.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Apple don't want people buying sim-free unlocked devices.

They're in cahoots with the carriers. It's all one big conspiracy to lock people in to two year contracts.

I have no idea why they introduced the 5C, giving us a worse end product than just lowering the price of the 5. Must have greater profit margins.
Pretty much. I'm the biggest Apple fan but I hope the press calls out on their bullshit. Or that the 5C bombs.

I had so much hopes for a more democratic iPhone... it's just a worse iPhone for the sake of profit after all. Cheap cash grab.

This is true. My sister moved to android and was worried about shifting ecosystem. She wasn't a user of iCloud so I asked her what is she really losing? Not much.

Most of the apps are just games that are sort of consumable to begin with.

I find it a bit more difficult to switch because I actually live iCloud. Not that there aren't alternatives to every feature, I just like the all-in-one solution.

Wait, the 5s camera doesn't have OIS? Disappointing.

As a former 4s owner and a current Nexus 4 owner, I'd recommend you hold out for the Nexus 5 which is due any time now. It's going to be a great phone at a great price.
I'd think OIS would be a given, but maybe it just takes 10 pictures and uses Photoshop to antiblur, who the fuck knows.

And I'll echo waiting for the Nexus 5 since someone from Google told me to wait specifically for it.
