I thought the 5 had a FaceTime HD front camera too?

I thought so as well but they were touting it as a new feature for the 5C and then I got all pissed off because fuck you Apple you make a cheaper version of my iPhone and then you go and add improvements to it too? *cries*

So, enjoyed the whole thing. 5C looks good, but the price of unlocked one is ridiculous. For 200$ it's awesome.

And for 5S, nothing new, we were aware of everything. Changing my 4S for 5S in near future.

Damn i can not leave without another laugh about 5C price. 100$ less than 5S, really?

5 has FaceTime HD. What they are touting with the 5C is a NEW FaceTime HD camera.. They specifically mentioned better low-light performance.

I normally don’t mind the hyperbolic ad copy on Apple’s pages but this bit on their iphone 5C page just feels a little too over the top. feeling a little grossed out

Sounds like an IGN review of the 5C inside a GTAV parody ad actually :-)

Apple's been the laughingstock of the mobile industry ever since Jobs passed away. Seems like it hasn't changed today. Thumbprint reader = gimmick. iPhone 5C costs $100 less than iPhone 6S off contract (550 vs 650). Horrible looking covers. Apple's playing catch up, which is good, but they need to do better next year. No wonder this wasn't live-streamed.

Honestly, I hated Jobs, but man did he know how to run the company and force actual innovation in his own company. This seems lazy.

Oh fuck. These "color EXPRESSES something about YOU. It is IMPORTANT" stuff is literally sickening.

EDIT: Oh, and bonus points for the 5S casings making your 5S look like a 5C. That's what I would want.

... Thumbprint reader = gimmick.

ok, so here's a personal rant of mine. For YEARS Android users have almost always said "oh, you still have to enter a code in to unlock your phone?" I mean maybe it's just me noticing.. maybe it's only people I've come across.. But If I had $1000 for every time I've heard that in like 3 years I could honestly buy a new house.. And not just a Detroit house. It's as if swiping some pattern on a screen is mind blowing compared to the "quaintness" of typing in a 4-digit pin.

Yet now a fingerprint sensor comes along that is basically unheard of in the consumer space.. 3D with contours. works on any angle. Encrypted and stored on the CPU itself. Used within the OS/API to provide password-free operation of many apps used almost daily..

and it's a gimmick? yet drawing out a pattern on a screen is next-gen the way most android users sell it?

as much as people love to claim "apple fanboys will buy anything with the apple logo" there is just as much sentiment to the "apple anti-fanboy" who, upon apple releasing a phone that could cure cancer, would respond with "eh, that's fine if you have cancer I guess, but why wouldn't they also put a 6" screen on it? Apple always looking for answers to questions no one asked."

I had slight interest on 5c if it was at a reasonable price. My jaw dropped when I see the unlocked price in my region. I heard it's getting a low 40%ish profit margin from a high 30+% profit margin from previous models, so I'm not sold at all.

It's quicker and faster to draw than to type in. That's why software keyboards like swype can be way faster than hitting each key one by one.

I actually agree with you under the condition that it's not limited to unlocking and your iTunes account. If they open it up to apps, then I don't think it's a gimmick at all.

Of the five colours with “uncommon beauty and depth” (from that ad copy) one of them is flipping WHITE.

sigh. c’mon son.

self parody, indeed.

argh, I just want that iOS 7 GM to get posted now.

Kind of shocked at the Canadian prices and price of the 5c in general.

Figured it would be 499 max off contract and the 5s would be the same price as the 5 at launch but would start at 32 GB. If they are expecting to significantly grow marketshare in emerging markets then they need to aggressively expand into the lower end of the price spectrum. 599 (or comparable in the given currency) is not going to do that. If I was an Apple investor I'd be watching the China event tomorrow very carefully.

Very happy I decided to jump on the rMBP train earlier this year instead of waiting for Haswell. I figured things would be delayed but this is getting crazy.

well clearly it's in the API.. so yeah, it's just a question on if they let us determine if the phone was unlocked with fingerprint or not. That and they need to allow stuff (which they might already) to be excluded from icloud backup.

i.e. the only way I see it working is if a bank can see you unlocked your iphone with your fingerprint, give you an option to save your password locally and use that password-less option whenever you use your fingerprint. But yeah I'm guessing they will only do that if your saved password is then not stored off out on icloud.com

Ready for this. Someone make a thread when they got the details on where an how to install!

where is always illegit.. until apple releases it to the public, only devs are allowed to download it.

How is the same as it's always been for GMs. Get the ips file, hold down Alt (or Option) while clicking on Restore iPhone in iTunes, then select the downloaded file.

What about that new NFC enabled zoom lens that Sony announced a bit ago?

Not to say NFC doesn't have it's uses, but I'd expect fingerprint security for phone unlocking and passwords will be far more widely used than anything NFC thus far.

Also I am going to bed before the GM hits, otherwise I just will probably not sleep at all today <_>
