So this has been asked heaps of times but where is the new iTunes Beta? Or is that the thing... that your phone / ipad can't be sync'd once it's updated?

Here's my prediction.

The iPad 5 gets the 64-bit processor and graphics from the iPhone 5S and maybe the camera and hopefully the touch ID login button if not the iPad 6.

The iPad mini gets the stuff from the iPhone 5 and a Retina. Let's hope the 5's processor is good enough for Retina.

I mean what's in the mini right now? The 4 or 4S' processor? What was in the iPad 3 that made it so bad at running the screen?

The rest of this year is going to be interesting for Apple users. iPads, MacBooks, hopefully Mac minis and iMacs.

My download has 30 seconds left omg.
My 12$ keychain is slooooow.

It's not. The A6 will not be in a Retina Mini. It doesn't have the memory bandwidth to support a 2048x1536 resolution, which is a big part of the A5X and A6X designs.

The iPad mini has the iPad 2's A5 chip; the iPad 3 has an A5X, which is a tweaked A5 with more graphic horsepower - however, not enough horsepower to drive a 2048x1536 display as well as the iPad 2 could push 1024x768.

For the past 2 years I keep convincing myself to stick to this 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro, I think I still will wait for whenever they put Touch ID in there. It should be something developers can mess with, like BetterTouchTool, right?

Especially since it recognizes multiple fingers (one of the hands on videos I saw showed the iPhone telling the user which finger, out of the multiple fingers stored, it had just recognized).

Can you imagine launching different programs or actions with different fingers? Even just a basic multi-user login would be useful.

Not esp wrt notebooks but this is getting me pumped about Touch ID

Then it'll have whatever's in the iPad 4 right now I guess? It better. I don't want the first Retina mini to suffer the same problem as the iPad 3 did. Apple would have learned better from that.

Either the link I downloaded was false or I'm an idiot, it says "thisis not a valid restore for this ipad" etc.

iPads have multiple versions. Did you make sure you got the one for yours? I don't mean number versions, I mean like antenna versions. CDMA, GSM and WiFi all have their own.

The rumor is that they would both get an A7X. This comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, who was the first to say there would be a gold iPhone, and that there would be a sapphire lens on the Touch ID/Home button:

I'm guessing the A5X is still pretty inefficient since it required that huge and heavy battery. Or maybe the split will actually be A7/A7X.

I don't think that the mini will get the A7X, because at that point you're paying $170 more for a 2 inch bigger screen and that's it, instead of that and the processor upgrade.

I could always be wrong, however.

Yeah I made sure as much as possible, but with how difficult it's beenntonfind the cdmanipadminim file I'm guess thrndownlpadm was just a fake or something. Will figure out In the morning. I want to do a fun ha ps o

was the file so yeah hmm

s snow leopard to blame?

Can't wait to find out. Not that I'm in the market for a new iPad mini. I just wanna see it. I wonder if there'll be gold ones. Or if they'll stick with just silver and "space grey".

Edit: This happened last time. I restored from my iPhone backup and iOS is all installed now, but it hasn't started downloading any apps yet. My icons are in the order they were, but all my downloaded apps are missing and the spinny icon is spinning as if it's doing something. But I can't tell if it's actually going to do anything, or if I should just try restoring again? I just want it to download my apps and put them in their places. Wait. It's copying the music over. So maybe it's in the process. I'll let it go for a while before I try again. Wish it had done the apps first though. Oh, and I guess it'll have to download the apps since I deleted them from my computer. Oh well.

My fault really. I forgot I should have removed the music from the phone before backing up so when it restored it would start with apps first. Since I could always put the music back later. Damn. Too late now. I'll do that for the iPad.

Tried to play this back on my Win7 machine that is more than capable via chrome and its choppy as heck. Anyone have any tips? Thanks!

Yeah that stream is not working for me at all.... Goddamn quicktime. Apple should just put it on YouTube, ffs....

Wanted an iMac refresh to order one from work, no luck.

What are the new refresh supposedly presented in October going to bring ? Haswell procs of course ( I know of the advantage for battery life but for an iMac it's not relevant, so what are their other advantages and what's the performance gap ? ), but are there any other rumors ?

Or in short, should I order one right away ( even if it's to sell it before the end of the year to buy a new one maybe ? ) ?

Lack of Haswell MBPr was the biggest disappointment.

Probably the weakest Conf in sometime. I've had ios7 through the betas so maybe that killed my excitement?

GM vs the last beta release feels the same to me.

Really liking iOS 7 so far. Though since I don't keep my apps on the computer, I had to download them manually. It's taking forever. But it's putting them in the right places so that's something. Plus it lets me choose what I want and do some cleaning.

My lock screen looks awesome with the photo of Gillian Jacobs I have on it.

Sad it didn't come with any panoramic wallpapers to try out. Do they still work?

Not sure whether this has been posted or not, but I think Apple made a slight booboo...

That to me looks like a new iPad Mini? - That bezel?

Yeah the current mini does not have that right? I think it's got to be a boo boo in some sense. Doesn't mean that's the new mini or it's coming so soon, but it looks like, at least, a prototype model.

Sure it has, just like the old iPhone 5 has that bezel.

First impression: I love the change but all the effects annoy me. I liked opening folders in iOS 6 but in iOS 7 it's annoying as hell.

Edit: Is there somewhere an option to turn off or change all the effects.

Can someone explain the iOS7 settings icon to me? I know it's a stupid thing, but every time I look at the screenshots I just think "what is that supposed to be" and it's getting to me now.

It's a gear, isn't it? Same as the previous icon, just you see a whole gear now rather than the top of one. Might be a smaller gear underneath it if that's not supposed to be part of the same thing.

Man, iOS 7 is clean as hell. Some of my apps disappeared when I restored though, guess not everyone is on board yet?

Just reinstall them. I had some disappear too, and as far as I can tell it's just because the iTunes backup process is as random as all hell and hasn't really worked properly since iTunes 11 shipped.

Yadda yadda yadda motion compressor this bike fuel band that.. Pet collars. iPhone users love their pets.

this

+ icon colors are to bright. "Messages" hurts my eyes.

+ Control Center: the bluetooth on/off toggle is too close to the "arrow" that closes the CC - I either turn on/off bluetooth by accident and/or need multiple swipes to exit the CC.

+ I'll probably adapt to the new "plastic" look of iOS 7, but "Safari" looks cheap as fuck (speaking of which: sliding up/down to switch tabs? why?).

+ the grey background of the "Dock" is too prominent for my taste, I'd prefer it less opaque

That's the iPad Mini A1455 US CDMA/International GSM firmware. If that's the model you have then the download was corrupted, otherwise you got the wrong firmware build.

FYI. You don't need to drag from the arrow to close control center. You can swipe downward from above the control center area and it will close. No need to grab just the arrow.

For all the shit I read about iOS 7 being "lol new icons" it sure feels really different and really good. All the transitions feel very satisfying.

So you can password-protect the disabling of Find My iPhone, but doesn't allowing access to Control Center from the lock screen effectively nullify this? Someone could just steal your iPhone and immediately put it into Airplane Mode.

I don't understand this. When I Updated (not restored) from iOS6 to iOS7 GM all my apps where there the whole process took like 5 minutes.

ios 7 really isn't that different besides control center until apps start updating. Unless you are a wacko that still uses the default apps for stuff.

I don't agree
