Are there any 'bad' games this gen you would get for $10 or less?

Sure, I buy lots of "bad" games, because my tastes are pretty far outside of the mainstream. This gen I have bought games like FlingSmash, Dewy's Adventure, Bullet Witch, Way of the Samurai 3, Genji: Days of the Blade and plenty others for at or around $10 and have gotten plenty of fun out of all of them for that price.

I don't know about 'bad,' but I've bought a lot of games for $10 or less this gen that I wouldn't have if they didn't drop below that price point.

Nier, Blood on the Sand, Eternal Sonata, The Club, Kameo, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, Haze, Infinite Undiscovery, Splinter Cell: Conviction, etc.

Some of those are obviously worse than others - those that aren't are from genres I don't usually care as much about, but when they dip that low it's hard to resist. Also, I scored at least a dozen games from Blockbuster at $2.50 apiece, including many in that list above.

Oh, didn't read your entire post. Hmm... I don't know. I don't generally buy poorly reviewed titles.

But at $10 or less I'd be willing to give L.A. Noire a try.

I wish I spent 10 dollars on L.A. Noire :(

That 50 Cent game but only if they patch in trophy support like the Japanese version.
I guess I'll get that version...

i thought dark sector was pretty cool!

I fucking love Dark Sector and will defend it till the end of time, but then I'd have to since everyone seems to hate it. Generally as others have mentioned I don't buy "bad games" because I know I don't have time for them.

Still I've made a couple bargain bin errors:

Wanted (terrible DO NOT BUY IT)
Front Mission Evolved (Enemy health bars the size of the moon, WTF?)
*almost forgot - Stormrise (FUCKING COW SHIT ALL OVER MY FACE, WHY GOD WHY?)

And had a couple successes:

Alpha Protocol (Bad gameplay, love actually feeling like a spy)
Nier (Fucking strange as all hell and I mean that in the best possible way. Combat is not so hot, but the shmup aspects are amazing)
Blood Stone (Great set pieces but very anemic)

A few games I haven't played yet but got cheap:

Overlord 2
Enslaved

I do this all the time during steam sales. Usually it's games I was at least somewhat looking forward to, but ended up being not so great or I just forgot about. The only time I regretted getting a game under 10 bucks was Alpha Protocol. I can't believe Obsidian released such a bad game.

I once thought Nier likely wasn't worth that much money. Then I spent $15 on it and it was some of the best money I've ever spent on videogames.

I picked up Dead Space Extraction on Wii and Onechanbara on 360 for $5 a piece recently. Onechanbara is for my crappy Japanese 360 games collection. Still need Vampire Rain, though, but buying it means I bought Vampire Rain. You can see my dilemma.

I passed on Duke Nukem Forever at $4. It's probably the only game I was going to buy at full price that I now won't get at any price.

How about I'll tell you what I've bought for $10 Cnd on 360/PS3

50 Cent Blood on the Sand
Afro Samurai
Armored Core For Answer
Bomberman Act Zero ($3)
Blacksite Area 51
Blood Drive
Dark Sector
Dead to Rights Retribution
Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard
Enchanted Arms
GH Aerosmith
Ghostbusters
GIG Rise of Six String ($8)
GoldenAxe
Hail to the Chimp ($5)
Haze
Heavenly Sword
Mindjack
Nail'd
NBA Ballers ($4)
Ninja Blade
Ninty Nine Nights
Project Sylpheed
Quantum Theory ($5)
Rise of the Argonauts
Rock Revolution
Secton 8
Shadowrun ($5)
Sonic 2006
Terminator Salvation
The Club
Tony Hawk Ride (ok, this was $20 with the board)
Velvet Assassin
Wanted
Wartech
Zoids Assault ($8)

I wouldn't play a single game on that list if they were given to me for free

I barely get around to playing the games I legitimately love.

I did pick up Other M for $15 though; worth seeing for myself. I might enjoy it eventually. Boney might convince me.

Bought Nier for 10, wouldn't have paid more. Gaf likes it, but it didn't review so well.

That's literally the only game I can think of, because I wouldn't pay any amount for a game that was truly bad.

Besides old sports games I'll buy practically any game under 3 dollars and I've actually got some decent games out of this practice!

and it was amazing, right?....right?
Haven't finished it yet, but what I've played so far has been pretty good. GRIN was onto some good ideas, but poor level design and the lock of polish really hurt.

Why pay $10 for a bad game when there are plenty of good games for $10 or less?

I bought Halo 3 at gamestop for $9. Psy Ops for like $4. Hitman games for well under $10.

Really?

I admit I buy some stuff that most people should avoid, but none of them? As a few said, 50 Cent was well worth the price of admission, and there's quite a few of these that do were enjoyable enough for their moneys worth.

Afro Samurai
Dark Sector
Dead to Rights Retribution
Ghostbusters
The Club
Wanted
Nail'd

Then there are these:

Bomberman Act Zero ($3)
GoldenAxe
Hail to the Chimp ($5)
Haze
Ninja Blade
Quantum Theory ($5)
Tony Hawk Ride (ok, this was $20 with the board)

sometimes I go out of my way to grab the worst of the bunch, and see whether the unanimous hate was really right, and what went wrong, and how did they go so wrong.

I'd snag Dark Sector or FF XIII if I saw 'em in a $10 bin.

Edit: Also Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Seemed like a fun little romp when I demoed it awhile back.

Prince of Persia 2008 was a great game. I'm still pretty bummed out we'll never get the sequel it deserves b/c of its poor sales.

The bad game I'm currently waiting for a $10 bargain on is The Force Unleashed 2. I didn't like the demo, it reviewed poorly, and almost everyone who played it says it was trash. For a cheap enough price, I'd like to play through it myself just to confirm.

This thread is just asking for outrageous replies so I'll bite.

*deep breath*, Final Fantasy XIII. I have this huge morbid curiosity about this game but every time I research a bit into it I get so put off by what I see. I'll get it eventually, no hurries, but I don't want to spend much on it.

To people thinking about purchasing Quantum Theory: it's not even about money - it's really not worth your time, not even for the lulz. I had to play through it for a review. I'm still emotionally scarred.

Not really.

I think for under 10 dollars there are really good games to get, unless you really already have all the good games in your library, and you've gone through all of them in your backlog, I didn't think it would be a good idea to drop 8 dollars on games that are just bad, for the price of 2 bad games, you could probably get a really good game. It also disturbs me a bit to buy 2 bad games I wouldn't even enjoy much than to buy a pretty decent game that nobody bought and sold really bad.

but then I guess I'm just really cheap, I buy games like Batman for $7.50, I wouldn't buy something that's worse at the same price...

Bionic Commando and Dark Void. Both games have great parts mixed with abysmal mechanical execution. If both games would stay in the sky they would be genuinely great. The Club is also pretty good. It would fit perfectly into an modern arcade. Splinter Cell: Conviction and HAWX are also quite nice but don't justify a price above 10-20$.

Deadly Premonition (Red Seeds Profile)

I desperately want to experience the trainwreck gameplay and ludicrous Twin Peaks story and character (no, YouTube is not an acceptable alternative!), but from what I've watched read the gameplay is so bad it transcends the tolerance level I have for clumsy gameplay when there's other good stuff going on, into a realm of torture. I wont play it unless I can play it cheap.

And unfortunately, as a PS3 owner, I'm stuck trying to get the Japanese release (Red Seeds Profile), which is much harder to find than the Xbox 360 localisation, and costs way more than its worth, especially given the Australian dollar to the Yen.

I liked it as well. I picked it up at $20 and I had fun with it. Game looked great, loved the art style. Traversing the world felt a little "auto pilot-ish" but it was nice to play a game relatively stress free. :)

These games don't seem to be "bad", but I'd like to grab Brink and Kane & Lynch 2 at a cheap price. K&L I've already seen at Amazon for about $15. I had some fun with the demo.
