Are you going to buy PS4 Pro?

Pre ordered, i also bought an 80 dollar amazon gift card to put towards it but so far its showing me the only payment method being used on the order will be my cc?

It really depends on the type of trade in programs. If I can trade my launch PS4 and get a PS4Pro for €200 or less, them I am in. Otherwise, who cares: my son won't see the difference anyhow.

The fact that doesn't support UHD kinda killed the vibe for me :( That and the fact that the new PS4 is ugly as hell :(

Don't really care about the lack of HD Blu Ray playback as I don't have a 4K TV but I have some questions I need to answer before I find value in it. As a current PS4 owner I can't find $400 value there.

What's the trade up program?

Where's the list of games that will get patched?

Do I gain anything if I'm just 1080p?

Is the console really going to play games in 4k/30 or 4k/60? They kept saying 4k gaming but I thought that we were shooting for 6TF to do that?

Just because of the UHD BD? Because Pro actually makes the games themselves run better as it's 3x more powerful than original system, that's not what the S is for.

For my money, a UHD BD and the handful of exclusives not on PC seems to add more value for me then what the PS pro seems to offer. If the pro actually runs games better (outside of higher resolutions) than thats another story.

Nah. I don't care about 4K, and would rather have 1080p 60 fps. However, that's apparently not going to be the focus, especially since MP games can't have improved framerates (which means no Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3 performance improvements). Can't see myself upgrading if they're not going to actually make frame rate improvement a major focus.

I think the right question is did this conference sell you on buying an HDR capable 4K TV? It feels Sony is using the PlayStation to push more Bravia 4K TVs.

The press conference didn't sell me on the Pro. I don't see the point in upgrading if I don't have a 4K TV or plan or buying one anytime soon.

This tread really needed a poll.
Keep reading. Devs have that option.
I think the framerate will be more stable...

People here were expecting a 60FPS boost for 1080p.... but the fact is most developers are lazy and probably will just release the game identical except for 1080p ( which most PS4 games already are ) and more stable framerate.

Nah I'll pick up a UHD Player and a NX. I already have a gaming PC and og PS4. Nothing they've shown is a reason to upgrade.

I might get it, the blu ray thing isn't a deal breaker for me. Also I saw some people complaining about the name. I think it's fine. I'm actually glad Sony is sticking with these simple names instead of some metaphorical bullshit about you as the consumer and your values or some nonsense.

Yeah, at first I didn't like the name, but they didn't even call it PS4K and there are still people complaining that it's useless without a 4K TV and doesn't offer anything at 1080p despite the news that games can receive enhancements at 1080p (both graphics or framerate) if devs want to offer it (as modes, or sliders, etc.) so now I can see why they didn't use that name. The confusion would endless...

Yeah. The reveal was about as underwhelming as possible though. No surprises with the specs, no 4K BD support and duct tape-esque visual design.

my ps4 is essentially a streaming box + a few badass exclusives. so i can't justify plopping down $400 for it ,though i think it's a perfectly reasonable price. i'm guessing lots of PC-centric folk are in the same boat

i will get on the 4k train eventually and this may be my go-to. i don't buy blu-rays anymore so i could care less about that aspect. but for now nope

Maybe. I got $200 from GameStop for my launch Xbox One towards Xbox One S.

Yeah, smoother and more stable at the original framerate will probably be standard but Tomb Raider apparently will have an unlocked mode at 1080p, it could get close to 60fps.

I don't know, I'm not sure if there is a point. I don't own a 4K TV nor do I care to have one so what real benefit would I get out of it except more storage space when I still got plenty left?

Plus I'm mostly a PC gamer these days anyways.

Yup. Just pre-ordered on Amazon. Was hoping they would go crazier with the specs and release for around a hundred bucks more, but I'm in. Also probably buying a 4k tv during black friday.

I will for GT Sport at one point and to play Uncharted 4

The console and specs are not impressive. Holding out a year would've been better but whatever.

£350 is not a bad starting price though.

Sold my PS4 during rumors of neo. Really thought I was done with Playstation but love VR so kept my psvr pre order. Bought a Vive, built a new pc. VR is awesome, warmed up to neo pushing psvr beter but started to feel that psvr will be sort of a step backwards on a tech level and not really digging the idea of two headsets. My hd plasma bites the dust, upgrade to 4k hdr set, now I care about uhd media. Thought neo would kill 2 birds. Now, pretty sure I'll ditch psvr and may either just get a dedicated uhd player or maybe an Xbox s

same here... I'm thinking I'll just buy a standalone UHD player. Should be some good deals for the holiday shopping season.

I have a very good PC, and with more games going multiplatform these days it's more difficult to even justify buying a console. PS4 does have some exclusives I want but may just pass entirely on them this time.

The UHD player being included would have pushed me into a day one purchase though, especially as I just got a 4K TV and would like to check out some of the 4K Blu-ray titles.

All in all I'm thinking instead of spending the $400 on a PS4 Pro I'll wait for a standalone UHD player to hit $200 and then put the other $200 towards an NX.

Probably, I need something to play PS4 games on and I sold my old one in advance for this. For 12 months, it will be the hottest place to play console games at their maximum potential graphical output.

Then I'll upgrade my Xbox to Scorpio and use PS4 for exclusives. The UHD thing has no relevance to me.

Who's interested in it after the reveal?

Fuck yeah dude, who the hell go on living without Sony's newest and most powerful gaming console? Im there day 1 even with my high end 1080p Panasonic Plasma. If people think dev's will be catering their resources to 4k TV's only, are kidding themselves. 4K HDTV's take about 8% of the owners of HDTV's. Analysts have said a few times now that they do not expect 4K HDTV's to be the majority until 2020/2021. It has taken a long time to get people onboard with 1080p HDTV's...most recently did 1080p become mainstream....do people really think all those people are suddenly going to toss those 1080p sets and go buy a 4k? Nah...not gonna happen. Besides...developers will quickly see that 1080p is the best target for a 4.2TF console.

PS: Those that are down playing PS4 Pro as weak because of it only being a little over two times as powerful as PS4....well maybe you haven't seen Sony's latest most recent games running on PS4...they are some of the best looking games on any platform including PC....so to have double that power will produce some amazing visuals in a closed boxy system such as Pro. Can't compare it to a PC...even today, they are still two different beasts.

No, I use my PS4 mostly for Japanese games, which likely won't benefit much from a Neo mode. My money is going towards an NX provided that Nintendo don't fuck that up ( a big IF I know).

I have a sony 4k tv but doesnt have hdr, so my actual ps4 wont see great benefit from the firmware update, maybe pro is the answer, gotta wait for reviews and a few games on it.

yes, will sell my ps4 phat.

then settle in fort the wait untill next gen arrives with PS5

basically 4k TV's have resulted in this situation .. if they hadn't been introduced, we wouldn't have this mid life crisis going on. but it is what it is ,and hey if that means i get nicer textures and effects on my HD TV until i can afford a HDR4k set ... then all good ..

It's fun how people did shit on MS when they pushed "TV TV TV" and all those media stuff that "we don't care about, we care about games", and now when Sony announced that they don't put a UHD player in the PS4 Pro, prefering to focus on gaming (4K games, improved graphic assets in 1080p, etc), then people "hey, what I cared the most about was 4K BRs!"... What?!

The way I see it:

Xbox One S 1TB (still a traditional XO horse power inside, same graphics) : 349$
PS4 Pro 1TB (with x2.5 horse power of the PS4, enhanced graphics/assets) : 399$

So just for 50$ more than a One S I'll have a WAY better gaming experience? Sign me in! I buy game consoles to play games.

I understand the dissapoinment on some people about no UHD BR player but it is going to far to me, really hyperbolic. If there was a 4KBR player the console would cost 499$ and then a looot less people would be able to enjoy it, just for 5% of people watching BR in UHD... (and honestly in France less than 20 UHD BR has been released so...).

no I dont have a 4k tv and I honestly dont forsee myself getting one till maybe late 2018. which is when i expect to replace my 1080p set.

For my money, a UHD BD and the handful of exclusives not on PC seems to add more value for me then what the PS pro seems to offer. If the pro actually runs games better (outside of higher resolutions) than thats another story.

It can do this. But it will be upto devs if they want to offer it or just improve the graphics and get closer to 4K. Now if you want UHD BD and the non-pc Xbox games interest you more than the PS ones that's a different story.

Nah, my OG PS4 will be fine. If they had added something like PS1/2 disc BC, that would be a "Pro" system to me. And I heard it doesn't support 4k BluRay movies or 4k games, so why bother?

It just doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade to warrant the purchase.

Won't be getting a new TV for at least a year so unless the Pro can pull off 60fps consistently then not anytime soon.

Unless I'm missing a valid reason to upgrade now

I'm not as wildly excited as I thought I'd be, but the presentation was more than enough to convince me to put a preorder in at Best Buy.

In 'years' the PS5 will be out and there will be no need to buy a PS4 Pro. PS5 may support 4K Blu-ray as well

Who says I want a PS5 though? I'll maybe buy one of those years after its release once there's games to care about (and its price has been reduced).

I also couldn't care less about 4K blu-rays. I watch film and TV digitally.

4K this 4K that. I feel a lot of people miss that we will get big upgrades even if we won't be shelving out big money on a 4K TV in the next couple of years. The one example we have so far is Rise of the Tomb Raider in which we (HDTV peasants) can choose if we want higher frame rate or locked 30 fps with cranked up effects and shit.

So personally I don't see the need for a 4K tv to take advantage of Pro. I won't be upgrading my tv until most likely around PS5.

Yes.

Only when Tekken 7 comes out though. By the time of release, I'll have saved up enough money for one, a new tv and I'll actually have a game I wanna play on it.
