Are you going to buy PS4 Pro?

I was pretty sure, but this no uhd bluray drive thing legit shook me, i got to thinking and only 1 the 4-5 exclusives i want actually has a release date, the ds4 remains unchanged, and im not sure how this thing is even putting out 4k res exactly.

i dont wanna drop 349 for another toaster if the proper sandwich maker comes out 2 years later. the exclusives can wait.

Got a decent size 1080p TV and an original PS4 with a 2TB hard drive in it. My games look and sound great, my blurays look and sound great. Right now, I'm perfectly happy with what I've got.

In the same boat. Until I see how significant the differences between old PS4 on 1080p and PS4 Pro on 1080p and until I see how many devs decide to take advantage of the increased performance for future 1080p improvements, I can't see a reason to buy just yet. It's going to be a while before I have a 4K TV, especially since it's my wife who is the major TV watcher and she can't even really tell the difference between 720p, 1080i (cable TV broadcasts), and actual 1080p (on Blu-ray).

I've got the Pro on my Amazon Wish List in case my current PS4 dies, at which point I'd buy a PS4P rather than a PS4 Slim.

Part of me also wonders about the ease with which we can swap drives from existing PS4s. Meaning, if I take the 2TB drive out of my existing OG PS4 and move it into the PS4 Pro (or Slim, for that matter), will it just keep on trucking without a problem OR will it end up requiring a bunch of nonsense about licenses and reinstalling games, et cetera? Given the amount of games + DLC I have along with all the PS+ Games, the drive swap might be a nightmare.

same here... I'm thinking I'll just buy a standalone UHD player. Should be some good deals for the holiday shopping season.

I have a very good PC, and with more games going multiplatform these days it's more difficult to even justify buying a console. PS4 does have some exclusives I want but may just pass entirely on them this time.

The UHD player being included would have pushed me into a day one purchase though, especially as I just got a 4K TV and would like to check out some of the 4K Blu-ray titles.

All in all I'm thinking instead of spending the $400 on a PS4 Pro I'll wait for a standalone UHD player to hit $200 and then put the other $200 towards an NX.

Yeah, boggles my mind. Ps1, cd, ps2, dvd, ps3, br, ps4, still br but look, a mid gen refresh that could push uhd. Nope, not this time. Haven't needed a dedicated player for what seems to be forever.

Preordered, but as it stands NX will probably get my money. Already snagged an Xbox One S which is far and away a better media device at this point. Scorpio here I come at this rate.

Not anytime soon. I was scooping up PS4 games that I want in anticipation of getting a PS4, and then at the beginning of the year when it looked like the rumors of "upgraded" current gen consoles would come true, I held off of buying one. I still think that the upgrades are unnecessary but figured I might as well buy the better one that was on the horizon. I don't see anything that jumps out at me and says "You need this right now!" though, so I'll just get a regular PS4 at a cheaper price. Even if the Pro was the current price of a PS4, I wouldn't bother just because of the minimal HDD space. I'm not going to have a half dozen external HDDs laying all over my entertainment center.

Nah, at least not right now. We'll see a bit later in the gen if the performance differences with titles become too big to ignore even at 1080p (I'm talking like sub-30fps/sub 900p on the base model) then I 'll consider it. Then again PS5 might be on the horizon by then.

I was already in the 'no, my phat is fine' camp long before the announcement, and the presser only solidified my decision.

Looking beyond that, the Pro seems to be a very tepid first step into the all-encompassing iterative-console future. Generations as a design philosophy may yet persist into another round of hardware.

Also my phat now has the benefit of being the best looking PS4 model.

Nope. And I have a stellar 4K TV, mind you.

There isn't enough value in a doubled PS4 GPU in my case. My TV scales up content very well. Everything that was shown looked just slightly better on the new console and not dramatically improved. I'll just stick with the OG PS4 waiting to see what Microsoft is planning to do with Scorpio.

It could be my first non-Sony console since the PSone.

Less interested than before due to no UHD, but as I was already going to get the system for the games anyway...I'm still getting it. Not sure if I'll get one right away though for FFXV, or wait until Horizon.

I'm also wondering if Andromeda will have HDR on PC as well, or if this is going to be some strange Sony exclusive feature.

4K this 4K that. I feel a lot of people miss that we will get big upgrades even if we won't be shelving out big money on a 4K TV in the next couple of years. The one example we have so far is Rise of the Tomb Raider in which we (HDTV peasants) can choose if we want higher frame rate or locked 30 fps with cranked up effects and shit.

So personally I don't see the need for a 4K tv to take advantage of Pro. I won't be upgrading my tv until most likely around PS5.

This. It's a shame they couldn't list out a whole bunch of games at the same time as the conference that will offer those choices to make it more obvious this is possible but it will be upto the devs to decide what they can or can't do since it's so dependent upon the games, budgets, etc since we don't know how easy or hard all of this is.

Considering when I get a ps4, it will be to play whatever games are only on the system, having those few games look slightly better (thats IF they support the better visuals slider thing they showed off) isnt worth the extra money. I already have my PC for eye blinding visuals, I'll be getting a PS4 for the games that I can only get on PS4 (Bloodbourne, Spiderman, Uncharted, Horizon zero dawn, etc)

sooooooooo if a game offers a more stable framerate and better textures in 1080p mode vs the same textures and framerate at 4K, are we gonna be able to choose which mode we want?

guess we could just set the console video output to 1080p

Legit after seeing that footage for FFXV. I hope at TGS we get a trailer for the Pro mode because that footage looked good.

That's not something a 4k display is doing. That was legit bells and whistles. I can't wait for that game.

I dunno. I feel Sony is just really dropping the ball across the board and really the only reason I continue to support them is Microsoft generally is worse.

I was pretty certain pre-reveal, now I'm pretty meh about the whole thing.

What is the point in buying this if they won't be making games that are multiplayer 60fps, it has been said that games that have 30fps on OG PS4, we WILL NOT get those games upped to 60fps because it would be unfair (disadvantage) for those stuck at 30fps to which i call bullshit because i play overwatch on a old Amd Phenom II 550 with a 560 ti gtx, and average 23-50fps (mostly in the 30's), I GO AHEAD agaisnt people that play at 144hz for fuck sake and I can still hold my own.

This has turned me off from buying this console, i was ready to pre order but not anymore.

If you're content with your PS4 now you don't have to get this. It's just not for you and that's fine.

I am getting PSVR.

I'll need to see some real-world numbers in terms of framerates for existing titles and VR titles before deciding on PS4 Pro. If it makes a real difference for a 1080p non-HDR TV, and it significantly helps VR titles, then yeah, I'll probably get it. I need a comprehensive digital foundry breakdown through to decide.

I'm not excited. But my ps4 has that annoying disc eject bug that comes back from time to time. I wanted a new ps4 anyway. And i'll be in north america in november.

Preordered. I would love to see some side by side comparisons though. Also if lots of developers go the Tomb Raider route it'll be even better.

Between this and psvr it's a very exciting and expensive season coming up, but I've already got the money put aside for it.

Nope, and I was ready cash-in-hand for the preorder too. Thing is, I got a 60" 4K tv last December for the future. I got the Deadpool UHD pack (has UHD + regular) because I knew PS4K was around the corner.

Guess it's X1S this holiday.

They didn't address any of the controller issues.
The design sucks.
No Bloodborne 1080p or 60fps.

Probably not. Unless some of those above things are addressed at some point.

Not when it comes out, but maybe in a year or two down the line when it's cheaper if enough games get a significant enough boost from it. I have no interest in getting a 4k display anytime soon but I'd like to get whatever framerate boosts I can, and I'm a sucker for buying upgraded consoles for no reason (I bought a 360 S instead of a new HDD for my old 360 when it got full just because I felt like it). Right now I'm really not feeling it though.

Already have my preorder down. I have a 1080p TV with no plans to upgrade to 4K/UHD. Looking forward to the 1080p visual and detail upgrades.

Also have a preorder for PSVR. Nice to have VR games looking better.

They said no game that has PVP or Multiplayer aspects to them will get 60fps if the OG ps4 has 30fps because it would be UNFAIR to people stuck at 30fps.

Still gonna call it Neo :D

Got mine down. I can sell my OG PS4 for around £180-£200, a few more games then its just making up the extra £100 so not alot really and worth it for the upgrade.

Nah it doesn't really interest me. My regular PS4 has me content. Lots of other tech to compete with this year and next that will come first than an update to a console I own.
