ARMS Global Testpunch Thread: Let's see if this has LEGS

I did find that most of the time when I tried to block with the Joycons it sent out a grab instead which was slightly annoying....

Man, I wish this game did a better job of telling you it's control schemes. ZL ZR is the best thing it does and there's no mention of it. Just make L guard and it'll be perfect.

Tilt Joy cons backwards and forwards? :p make sure you're using the thumbs up position, which is holding them both sideways

Hmm, I was the holding the controller's , I guess the movement speed is where the dash comes in handy. Just seems always compared to playing with a controller.

I mained Master Mummy, and he was pretty great at playing slowly and strategic. His main problem is he sucks close up and a Ninjara or Ribbon girl can put you to sleep pretty quickly.

I hope it's possible to customize the controls in the full game. I really don't like L3 as guard.

If demand is high, it might happen as a day 1 patch, maybe? I'm not hopeful though. I expect a quality of life patch later for stuff like making L/R on the pad for Dash/Jump. Not sure about fully customizable, but a least more control types.

The biggest surprise is that 50/50 split on motion and traditional controls.

Hopefully 3 for all catches on when people learn the controls better. Guess I wouldn't like it very much if I didn't know how to switch targets.

A Tier list for this game is viable. On the outset a tier list would take I to account movement, abilities, and the default arm combonations the fighters. From their it becomes alot more complicated trying to add in the different combonations of arms.

Three for alls are great fun so long as you know how to switch targets. Suddenly KO's no longer matter and it's all about keeping both opponents at lower health than you. Highly strategic, and you feel like an evil genius for winning.

Didn't have any problem whatsoever.
Found a terrible mechanica in the lobby, I faced her while trying master mummy and she completely crushed me. She was just standing there a pummel me with hammer and triple shot. The timing was so precise I didn't have the time to react.

Did same thing to a spring man, its just realy easy to get to that timing and just keep kicking down from downed state with triplehit stunning and then hammer kicking down

Holy fuck at this Helix player.

He was dodging every fucking attack during 1v1v1 including throws by shrinking.

I beginning to think skilled Helix players will be a nightmare lol.

Do we all agree volleyball is shit?

My first time playing I lose 4 straight matches until I was placed in Volley Ball mode. It was the first match I won.
The trick, like all alt modes in games, is not to approach it like a typical match. I find using one punch followed by he other punch immediately afterwards, forces the ball far out of your opponents reach and secures victory. I won several volley matches in a row using that method.

I didn't really like 2v2 volleyball because it usually felt like a clusterfuck with little team coordination, but then I got paired up with a Helix player that actually knew how to properly position himself as a team and was just generally very helpful and I started to see the potential of the mode.

I'm surprised a lot of people dislike 3 for all. 2 v 2 I dislike most because of how limited in room you are because of the tether to your teammate.
I really hope there is a non tethered 2v2 in the full game. If your partner doesn't know how to avoid getting thrown the whole round is just a waste. You can't even try to carry the team because anytime you get a rhythm going you get flung across the stage.

A couple of times I got a smart team-mate playing as Min Min or Ninjara that would see I was Master Mummy and hang back to cover the rear of the court with their superior mobility, while I panelled in the hits near the net.

I think people are so initially dissuaded by playing Helix because he is all about methodical and thoughtful gameplay as well as the fact he is extremely slow compared to most others of his size.

Volleyball is actually very fun, especially 2v2 and when you know when to set the ball up and how to spike it. 1v1 is pretty fine too but 2v2 with someone who knows how to play it is very great to play.

If there's one thing I can complain about that mini game is that coming back is almost impossible especially if the lead is like 3-0. I wish it's not timer-based in the final online version, especially since the ball explodes when the rally is taking so long, so there's always a guarantee of ending the game even without a timer.
