Atlus Japan Opens New Teaser Site

3DS makes sense. The Persona game listed, Atlus already releasing games on the platform

On the other hand there were rumors about Vita having a quite RPG-heavy launch lineup with one of the games being a PS2 game.

It can be for psp too, I guess, if they managed to find the method to include content missing from P3P.

This is what Hashino had to say about Persona 4 Portable early last year

However, in answer to fans hoping for a Persona 4 Portable, he comments that they will not be producing it unless they can find some method of including certain content that they couldn’t when they developed P3P. Maybe he means the realtime 3D cutscenes that were in the original PS2 game but were removed in the portable version?

He goes on that if they did indeed produce P4P, there would be some sort of cross-over in it with other games which, I presume means that they would have some P3P cameos as Atlus tradition goes

I'm sorry but we really don't need more Persona 4. I really just want something new.

I don't know about need, but I want and am willing to buy more Persona 4. Hell, if they offered the original P4 with no changes other than running on PS3 or PSP I'd buy it. I'll preorder an enhanced version today if someone will take my money.

And if a quickie port funds P5, all the better.

Now I'm kind of hoping that this (if it's a Persona 4 re-release) will be on PSN in a format that would allow it to be playable on PS3, PSP, and PSVita.

A direct sequel with the same cast a few years older would be great but unlikely.

I think so too - the characters of Persona 4 have already gone through their arcs, faced their true selves, discovered the cause of the situation in their town, and are more than likely done.

I can see cameos in the next Persona game, but I can't imagine characters that haven't had the chance to grow/experience in the ways that P3 and P4 characters have be part of the main story/gameplay elements.

Reselling people their past successes is part of how Atlus keeps the boat afloat to continue providing you something new.
Maybe I should revise what I said. I don't mind enhanced ports/remakes like Persona 1/2 because there has been time since their release. But Persona 4 isn't that old and it also had an anime announced for it. And by new I don't mean a sequel, or anything, just some form of new content(ex, Persona3->FES is a good amount of new content)

Actually I would love a FES like expansion to Persona 4.

Regardless of system or the extent of the new content, there is only one important thing they left out of the original that they can improve upon with a remake/port:

Not a matter of "would you", but "could you".

It's P3P2: The Answer edition!

One thing I do know about the game is that Europe will get shafted with the release date. Why don't you like Europe Atlus. What have we done to you :(

Apparently Natsume (Harvest Moon) have delayed their 3DS titles until they have a bigger install base.

I wonder what Atlus thinks of this.

This is the preview section from the back of the latest issue of Dengeki Maoh, a sister publication to Dengeki PlayStation which focuses on manga. Just ahead of the start of the Persona 4 anime and the release of volume 5 of the Persona 4 manga, the magazine is going to have lots of Persona 4 coverage in its next issue, including a special booklet containing interviews with the anime cast and a look back at the world of Persona 4. More notably, the magazine is hinting at a "major announcement."

Although Dengeki Maoh isn't a video game magazine, it wouldn't be too surprising for them to tease a video game announcement for something like Persona 4.

The next issue of Dengeki Maoh doesn't hit until September 27, so if the Persona announcement is video game related, expect to hear about it first elsewhere.

would it be surprising if i was PS2? Atlus delivered Persona 3 and 4 which were released towards the "end" of the PS2's AAA releases.

Since Persona 5 PS3 is pretty much impossible at this point, i'll settle for P4P Vita with all the cutscenes intact. Will be delighted if they add a new female protagonist like P3P.

Development-wise and install base-wise it just makes more sense for the PSP at this point (which can be played on Vita if it's distributed digitally).
There's also the untitled Persona game listed for the 3DS to be in development.

Develop for the PSP you can get it on two systems, when that time comes. Also Atlus historically has never been first to jump on the new-system-bandwagon really for any game.

Actually, this isn't quite true. Atlus published Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner on PSP in its release year. Then there's obviously Overclocked on 3DS. While they're not pumping out original games, they have supported platforms early with ports, and guess what a potential Persona 4 Portable would be? ;)

microsoft handheld to be announced next year at CES.

Persona 4 HD for 360/PS3 with additional content, enhanced graphics, redrawn high rez anime videos, and most importantly a simultaneous release in US/EU whenever that happens.

DO IT ATLUS !

With the effort on the Vita, why not just make it PS3/360 instead (or those and Vita)? Still a much bigger user-base. My general point is, why would they want to sell it to the smallest of handheld markets (A new console)?

I always feel like, if you're going to put anything on the Vita (like ports), why alienate the home consoles?

This would seriously be a dream come true.

Because it'll help break the ice for future games and Sony's not adverse to releasing PS2-visual calibre games on Vita for full price?

It just sounds too financially risky from a business perspective. I mean, I know they publish smaller games and such and even bring them to the West, but it just kind of seems like a waste of money to limit yourself to just the handheld if you can easily move it to home consoles at that point.

Edit: Also it could be good depending on attach rates and such too. Markets are unpredictable, so it could totally go either way to be honest.

lol With this opinion Atlus should still be developing PS2 and DS games. Eventually you have to move on and hope for the best.

A Persona 4 Portable game would be a port with some new content. That won't be breaking the bank any time soon.

Atlus was also there at GBA and Wii launches, though not with SMT.

Hey, Persona 4 released on the PS2 years after the 360/Wii/PS3 were out. Anything can happen at this point lol. But no, not PS2 and DS. Keep it PSP (and Vita digital) and things would be smooth because users of both platforms can play it, and you don't need to spend the extra development money making the game HD on the Vita.

I guess what it comes down to is, is this going to be an HD remake or a Portable version? I don't think it'll be both unless they splurge on it, and I think it would be a solid guess to say it'll be multi-platform somehow. The question is... Which ones?

Okay so Persona 4:FES HD. I love it.

Sounds great.

But wouldn't it be nice to hear something about P5 at tgs?
Most definitely. We're all (or just me) frothing at the mouth over some text on a yellow background though, because that's the only thing we have right now, heh.

Catherine engine, voiced social links, female MC, trophies, online versus mode pokemon style and P5/SMT4(5?) teaser video at the end.

Yeah, that would make me happy...

If his is a enhanced version of Persona 4 I really hope that it is kept in its entirety...

I liked P3P but I really missed all the stuff that was cut out.

This would be perfect. I love the Catherine engine.

Had some frame dips. Nothing I couldn't deal with, though. Catherine was a mighty fine lookin' game.

For their first foray into HD, it was a lovely job. I did notice the dips though.
I hope this becomes their permanent engine for the rest of this console life cycle.

Anyone else live in constant fear that we won't see Anime/Cartoon type graphics over these "realistic" ones?

Ill buy a Persona 4 Portable with new content for either PSP, Vita or 3DS. That being said, Id like Atlus to develop some new console games. The had so many titles released for PS2, so Id like to see a similar situation on PS3 and 360. They gotta notice the great numbers for Catherine. Gimme a Persona 5, a new Devil Summoner, and something new in the vain of Digital Devil Saga.

Huh? I haven't played Catherine but I'm under the impression that it still has very stylized graphics.

I hope Dengeki leaks out soon.
