Audiosurf on Steam NOW! Feel the waves.

Seeing as how somebody posted that wicked video of Daft Punk - Encore/Human After All/ Together/One More Time (reprise) - Stardust - Music Sounds Better with You (holy crap long song title) I had to check it out for myself..


Amazing, thats all I can say... my heart was racing, I really really got into it. Its pretty insane how this game increases your hand-eye coordination to the point where you are dodging blocks and pulling off amazing manoeuvres you didn't even think was possible.

most addicting game ever? I think so.
 
Tip: Check the track of the highscore and compare with your own (and others). You don't want to waste a bunch of time playing against a cheater :lol :lol ... :\

Does anyone have any experience with 'Click and Buy'? I used it last night to buy AudioSurf, because I don't have any CC or PP account.
Only there was a small problem, it seemed the 10$ was without taxes :P, so I didn't have enough money on my Click an Buy account so there is still a small amount op cash 'pending' (like 1.80$) . That's why I transferred some more money to Click and Buy so it should be enough, but nothing happened that money. It's just saying there is like 5 Euro on my account and still 1.80 to be paid.

And a second question: which programs have to get acces to login and stream the music. I gave clearence to the 'gate' program and audiosurf itself with my firewall, but I still can't login.
 
did you ever download the beta and alter the hosts file for unlimited play? if so, you need to remove the extra audiosurf lines in your hosts file.

I used a debugging tool and it seems to work fine just now, without doing anything.... weird. Thanks anyway :)

I use clickandbuy, I think you'll just have to wait a little, maybe they check things. It usually takes some time before it takes money from my account
 
this sucks.... I go on this epic ninja mono duel against this other guy with me finally getting the perfect run and some random elite eraser comes in and takes the top score :lol ........... :((((((

You know what sucks? Picking a 12 minute song to do Elite Ninja Mono on only at the end realizing, after successfully avoiding every gray block, that it's a live recording as the crowd starts clapping causing every lane to get spammed with gray blocks... in the end I think I hit more blocks then I avoided. Stupid spontaneous show of appreciation...

lmao I feel your pain, I haven't gotten around to getting that achievement yet because of that.
 
I just checked out Ironmode Ninja Mono with Sigur Ros - Hoppipola. I think I might go Ironmode exclusive on Ninja Mono now.. makes the slowish songs seem much more fun.
 
What the fuck is this bullshit?! I bought the damn game and now it's telling me to buy it again?!

Can somebody give me some tips? In Mono mode, should I just collect every coloured block and miss every grey? I assume so because of the 30% bonus, but I've finished without hitting a single grey and only got a bronze medal. Is that mode just not good enough for high scores?

Well...the game tells you that an advanced strategy in mono mode is to use gray blocks to pull off insane combos. But, that seems hard to pull off, so most of the time you can't rank very high with mono.

Anyone else's game keep crashing when they restart a song?
 
Ninja Mono mode used to garner huge scores in the betas, so they nerfed it quite a bit.

i.e. when you hit a grey block and get rid of it, you cop a -777 point reduction, instead of what it used to be - something like -444. Also the squares disappear much faster so it's a lot harder to get a 11 block bonus, or even a 21 block bonus.

Yes, it was -444. Also, they lowered the cap for how high the consecutive color bonus will go.

Like most modes in audio surf theres a greater scheme of things. The general concensus is to use greys to block small combos then break em to nail the 11+ combos. I've learned with ALL modes in audiosurf it's always better to sacrifice something for more points. Like in eraser mode I like to focus on 3 colors RED, Yellow, and Blue. depending on the song, red is going to clog your boxes. So you gotta be prepared to either delete reds constantly (deleting counts towards seeing red btw) or try to make it work by deleting blues or yellows.

Using that strategy i obliterated the other scores in Orbital Hyclon On & On.

Yeah, I'm starting to see the "right" way to play. I tend to stick to collecting two or three colours, and hope for a bit of luck in getting a big combo :)

I've been trying to beat his record too, it's particularly hard because the song ends so abrublty.

Edit: I beat it! But..someone else got to #1 first :(.

why do that when the bonus for dodging all the greys is much higher than getting 11+ combos? plus with the penalty for breaking greys for clean finish it is definitely not high scoring strategy.

first, greys break on their own if you pull combos on em.

second the 30% is gonna be dependant on your score in the first place. You aren't gonna beat a good eraser or pointman run depending on a clean 30% run. If you can get a few large 18 to 21 combos.....watch out now.

greys do not break in ninja mono so there goes that.
 
Not sure if this still counts for the normal mode, but greys do break in ironmode

EDIT: Yep, can only break if you break 'em yourself normally
 
I'm pretty sure the blocks don't break in ninja mono. I think the only thing you can do is clear them from the board by right clicking, but you lose points.
 
can someone tell me why I keep getting last place on all the leaderboards with ninja when I hit every block a few times and never hit a grey. I get KILLED on leaderboards wtf? what else can I do? i sitll suck at all the other modes seriously. They are way too hard for me and I can't think of so many colors at once.

Because, unfortunately, ninja mono won't give you as much points as other modes, even if you play perfectly, and, also unfortunately, the different characters aren't separated on the scoreboard... only the different difficulty levels.

Does anyone know what this game does to recognize songs when it compares over the internet? If my copy of Für_Elise is named ThroughtheFireandFlames, how does the game tell which song I'm actually playing?

It looks at the ID3 tags.
