I really wish i had recorded this run.
Nice job man. I was wondering how long you were going to stand around for him to keep the #1 spot.

I took back Reckoner tonight, as well as Street Spirit.

The #1 on Street Spirit had me by 11 points. So fucking close.. but I did a run just then that blew him out by 1,000.. but it hasn't updated!! FUCK!!

There we go!

On that note. I don't think I could ever beat Tekno's "Welcome, Ghosts" track by Explosions in the Sky. As much as I love the song it's just too fucking hard in some parts.

i tried the demo today finally. much more fun than the videos led me to believe. of course i still have no clue what is going on, or what im doing.

also every song i tried had zero people on the ranking boards. but it was giving me wierd connection issues to friend lists and whatnot. i dunno if its just because im playing the demo, the songs i chose are just not widely used (i have a feeling God's "Goldteeth Atlas Remix" hasnt been played by more than one or two people so far. :lol but it was fuck awesome with this game), or because of said odd connection issues.

but i think for $10, i cant pass this game up. even if i dont spend a huge amount of time with it, it seems to be well worth spending 10 on to have some fun with.

now i just need to figure out what the hell im doing.

The game is far, far more popular than the developer had expected, and even after multiple server upgrades, they still can't handle the traffic reliably. The leaderboards come and go.

Arrgh! I've had the same shitty performance ever since I bough it. None of the patches have made any difference. I'm still only able to play with Normal graphics @ 40 FPS, and even then it drops to 30 FPS in really fast songs. When's Nvidia gonna release new drivers?

I should probably play Pointman long enough at some point to have a clue what they're talking about.

They put arrows over the "best" upcoming blocks as hints. I actually find it to be a little distracting. I guess Pointman is for noobs or whatever, but I just can't get the hang of Pusher and Eraser is still a little tough for me in terms of maximizing points.

My problem with it is that it doesn't update fast enough. Lets say it's pointing to a blue block and you run over a green block instead. There is a delay before it stops pointing at the blue block and it really causes serious problems on congested areas. Maybe they fixed it with the patch, but I doubt it.

Maybe its just your PC? I'd imagine calculating that might take a bit of power.

After the update I got logged off and I can't recall my password. It is strange that I have not written it down somewhere. Do I need to create a new user? Because I can't find a option for them to mail it to me...

That's sorta what stealth is for. Just dodging instead of collecting.
Yeah I'm aware of that.

I'm talking like something that would give you a bonus for hitting every (or close to every) colored block or something.

"I'm talking like something that would give you a bonus for hitting every (or close to every) colored block or something."

It's unnecessary since you get bonus points just for picking up blocks.

"If it's unnecessary why are mono scores usually spanked by other ones? Something needs tweaking."

Because it's an easier mode. In the beta, it actually completely dominated the other modes scores, which didn't make that much sense considering it was simpler than the others.

Pretty much.

Play something else! Other modes are better. Besides, I'm tired of getting first place and everyone below me being Ninja Mono. It's not very satisfying. \:

I enjoy mono more. Just want the devs to make it a less simple mode! (But I guess improvement is unnecessary.)

Wait, you get to be an elite minority and you have a problem with this?

I believe you need to hand over your PC gamer membership card for something like that...

I actually have similar complaints about Pointman. I think without the hint arrows and shoulders, I could force myself to get a lot better.

Meh. Fuck the elite. Well, no. I have a lot of respect for people who can do Pusher on insane songs, but seriously, I just want some more competition for the coloured modes. I found it incredibly confusing and difficult at first, so I just spent a couple hours on casual and pro, then worked my way up.

Me and TheOneGuy are actually ntards in disguise. Don't tell anyone.

I like competition. ):

Luckily (or unluckily) I woke up this morning to find that I'd been kicked off the number one spot on five different songs.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Shhhhh.

EDIT: Come to think of it, our avatars don't exactly scream "disguise".

The correct response is to unleash a scream of rage and reclaim your thrones.

Like I'm about to do for Hunting Party from HL2 Ep. 2.

For the second time today.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

Well I already reclaimed my thrones. Immediately after posting, I began my quest and now they're mine forever! (Or not.)

I wish I was good enough to compete with some of the crazy people in this thread.

Like you.

You don't have to worry about me unless you name the tracks in question and I happen to have them.

i.e. don't do what Nabs does.

This is me before I got my email:

This is me after I do a perfect Ninja Mono run to try and reclaim my (barely lost) throne:

DAMMIT.

Oh man, They updated again and added "sharper turns". This is HORRIBLE in 16:9. You can barely see your vehicle on turns. Seems like all they did was make it so the camera goes further in, through your model. Horrible update. Look at this shit, you can barely see your vehicle so it throws off your perception of where you are:

Not only that, but now the mouse cursor lags behind your actual one in menus.

Audiosurf

* Improved performance (especially for Mono characters)
* Improved score potential of Mono characters
* Updated strategy guide
* Sharper track turns
Mono fans should be glad.

edit: Well, not too glad. The point cap for mono was bumped up to 200. I think the time before a chain clears was increased slightly as well, but I'm not exactly an authority on the fine points of mono. I don't think it'll be competitive with the rest of the modes, but at least you can stop complaining as much about not being able to hit gold.

Can't tell any difference in performance, but then the last performance update didn't do anything for me either.

I haven't seen any track turns quite as severe as that screenshot (playing in 16:10), but they're definitely a bit different now. I get the same mild sense of vertigo that corkscrews give me.

I really appreciate that the dev(s?) are working hard to mess with the gameplay, but honestly I'd rather just see the graphics polished more.

Wow.... that's a horrible thing to say.

The camera is a huge part of the game. Now, instead of following you around turns, it looks off to the side, keeping straight, so you cant see as much ahead. Though I will say, Performance has been improved a TON. I'm able to breeze through some songs now.

Previously, I held the record on a song at 75,000 and got both Clean Sweep and No Gray Blocks hit on Mono, now, the same run produced 102,407. I think they finally fixed the Mono class, since even if you had a perfect run on songs, you'd never get gold until AFTER your bonus' were calculated. Now, I get gold just before the song ends. Awesome.
