Oasis concert cancellation fuels split rumours

Oasis have cancelled their second gig in the space of a week because of “an altercation within the band”, it was announced tonight.

They were expected to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris but the crowd were told by Bloc Party, who were due to perform before Oasis, the Manchester band would not be taking the stage.

Many of the crowd thought it was a joke – until the big screens at either side of the main stage showed the message “As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled”.

Ben Clover, 28, who travelled from south London for the festival said: “I was hoping to see the band on the top of their game – now I am not sure we will ever see them perform live again.

“There are a lot of British Oasis fans who have come over for this gig and they are very disappointed.”

Last weekend the band pulled out of the V Festival in Chelmsford which they were meant to headline.

The band pulled the plug on their show at the annual music event because frontman Liam Gallagher was struck down with viral laryngitis.

However, their non-appearance sparked rumours they were set to split.

Earlier this month Liam revealed his relationship with his brother, Noel, is so bad they no longer speak, travel separately on tour and only see each other onstage.

North London 80s favourites Madness – who played the festival earlier today - stood in for Oasis.

Here was another news article from a bit ago. :(

Blur wins again!!!

Blur sucks.

But yeah after the 90s Oasis kinda seemed to fall off the face of the planet though. At least in the U.S. To be fair though, Oasis was an awesome band and I've liked most of the stuff I've heard by them.

Oasis...popular musical act appearing in the late 20th Century. Little is known about the act that reinvented and reshaped the 21st Century. Historians claim they changed the economy, solved world hunger, and ended the fabled War On Terror. Still others claim they were the first to travel to (and play on) Mars; officially kick starting the Galactic Era and leading the way to the now fallen Galactic Empire. The band was lead by two brothers, Jesu and Jesus. Acording to Oasayan legend, Jesu (known as No-Elle in some religions), sacrificed his life to save the colony of Parryi. Jesus (sometimes known as Liamma) went on to live 400 years become first Emperor of the Galactic Empire. His line was long and strong...

Noel always was the smart one.

But this seems like a sibling spat more than anything else.
He is a hell of a singer and composer.

Too bad most of you had written Oasis off post 1996. (Although you probably had good reason).

They released their best album in over a decade last fall and the band had somewhat of a big resurgence after 2005 - selling out stadiums all over the world their last couple of tours.

I'm pissed. I never got to see them live and they were at the top of my list. My wife and I were going to plan a European trip next summer and plan it around going to one of the big music festivals they usually headline.

I've become a recent Oasis fan as I completely missed them in the 1990's here in the U.S. They're big everywhere in the world except here. When they were at their peak, nobody in the U.S. was buying their kind of rock music. Outside of Wonderwall, they never got much airplay here, and that's a crime because Wonderwall isn't close to one of their best songs. The music buying public was more interested in slitting their wrists along with their 1990's grunge band heroes Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Nobody had time for feel-good rock-n-roll.

isn't noel the one who actually writes all the songs whereas the other douchebag just sings? lol.
Yeah pretty much, thats why i know that Noel is going to do a solo album.

And to think I gave up my Oasis avatar... shit shit shit...

This is my MJ dying of the year... fuck all of you who think that is insane.

Certainly not the first time. They canceled 2 American shows (one a full tour) on me back in the 90s. :( Never went any farther than that though.. :(

WOW, I would like to know the ages of the folks you have NEVER HEARD OF OASIS???

Didnt realize these people existed.

Same here. And as much as everyone wants to laugh and say that "OMG OASIS SUX," they must not have been around over a decade ago when Oasis debatably was the biggest band in the world. They have also written plenty of superb songs. I'm not a huge fan by any stretch of the imagination, but to deny that they have been influential and important to British rock music is ignorant and asinine.

All great rock and acoustic rock songs.

I'm pretty sure that they were joking.

FUUUUUUUUCCKKKKKK

Meier is right, fuck Michael Jackson, this is much worse :(

They were at the Man City game last weekend (at opposite ends of the stadium). They're too difficult to read, this come out of nowhere, yet I'm not surprised.

I'm just glad I got to see them at Heaton Park and Wembley in the last two months.

I can't see this being the end, Noel has walked out before, but his statement seems pretty definite. Whether he patches things up or does some solo work, the core and extended fan base won't just allow things to fade away.

How can anyone hate Noel? He's the talented one with all the brains between them and still remains the most honest person in the music industry.

Liam can carry on with his fucking clothing line.

Is anyone else imagining some sort of Wibbling Rivalry moment this time?

Yay no more shitty pub rock for over 40's.

And since the other thread got locked, I'll just re-post it here.

Ok .. so the rest of us Oasis fans who apparently have the worst fucking taste in music of any human who ever walked this planet.. here are some of my favorite performances from the last tour:

Argentina - Noel getting choked up at the end of this one:

Pretty much everything from the iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse in Camden last month - I've got a bootleg mp3 of the entire show and its probably one of the best they've done in years. Liam got pelted with a pint as soon as he walked on stage and he spent the rest of the performance taking it out on the audience and the songs.

oasis aren't relevant? typical american arrogance.

Not all of us are arrogant. But to be fair, see my take on why very few people here care about Oasis on the previous page.

If Man City win anything this year then they'll probably get back together.

So no reunions for a long time then.

Well, for a band that I thought had already broken up, they lasted longer than they should have.

But hey, here's a replacement band for ya!

Creed? Brilliant! And MJ fans could idolize Pee Wee Herman instead. It all works out.
